Thx, lovely landscapes! Would love to have seen scenes tied to a map and routing!
Glenns Ferry is where my 3rd great grandfather died. Indian attacked ferry burned.
Roger: Thank you for viewing my video and sharing your family story. I'm curious.....Where do you live currently? Just wondering if you are an Idahoan?. Ted
@@tedbohlman2953 Ted I have the actual letters from 1877 from my 3rd great grandfather ( William Ashmore) lawyer letters to his family back here trying to settle up his expenses for care while sick at the the old Walker Staion blockhouse or Glenns Station blockhouse and payment for the burial cost.. I was told he is buried outside of Glenn's Ferry beside a 14 year old girl at the entrance of what is today private property. I was told being private property i probably could go to the gravesite. An old timer showed my grandmother where he is buried she visited his grave and paid for a cross in the 1960s. I wanted to get a picture. Any way I sent all the first hand information about the Indian attack to Glenn Ferry to their library. I love you stories and videos thank you very much. Those early setters were special people.
@@tedbohlman2953 Here in Illinois but have documented my family from the Ark of Dove. Rev. War, Battle of New Orleans, Mexican War and so on. My 3rd great grandfather went to Idaho in the the early 1870s and never heard from him until my family got the letters from the lawyer. The people from the stagecoach were trapped in the stagecoach station that had 3ft thick walls with a well inside. They all stayed inside maybe a few days until the raid was over and all the horses were gone. We have the actual letters and story from some of the people who were there and cared for my grandfather before he passed away and the 14 year old girl. I am almost 72 years old. Keep up the good work!
Music does not fit the History!
A ferry was established there in 1869. Why the town is called Glenns Ferry
Yes it was. When you visit the park, part of the labeling and a ferry boat is preserved there. Thanks for watching.
Great video. You could lose the music though.
Thanks for viewing. Good comment on music! I do agree.....it adds little to the video. Keep watching! Ted
I wish I was in a position to be able to record all the historic trails, end to end with drone footage. Good on you for sharing this.
When Im able, I hope to find other Oregon Trail Sites and bring them to my channel. Ted
Very interesting, thanks for sharing 👍
So glad you enjoyed it.
So pleased you liked it. Getting over back surgery, hope to be active again soon. Ted
@@tedbohlman2953 O my ! Praying for your full complete recovery, definitely take it easy
Thank you. If you look on the OREGON CALIFORNIA TRAILS ASSOCIATION web site you will see the route out of the river. Did you come across any trail markers while you were there ?
It is my understanding that they primarily used the first 2 islands. They entered west of the pivot on the south side, crossed the first island heading northeast to the second island, then all the way to the east end of the second island. They then went northeast from the end and exited the river about where the corner of the plowed field meets the water (southeast corner of the field). You can see ruts along the first and second islands in your footage.
Tim....I appreciate your viewing the video and your comment. MANY OF THE REENACTMENT VIDEOS I HAVE WATCH SUGGEST YOU ARE CORRECT. I HOPE TO DO MORE OREGON TRAIL VIDEOS IN SPRING. TED
@@tedbohlman2953 I am planning to drive the entire Oregon Trail soon and film it.
Really enjoyed the video. Just subscribed.
appreciate your subscription and so glad you liked the video. Getting over back surgery so not been to active lately. Hope to start the channel with more content soon.
Loved it but hard to tell what was the trail and what are other trails and modern trails. BUT, still loved the video and the history! Thank you.
Thanx Norman. Good point. I need to revisit some sites around here and better define the trails. Trd
I missed it Ted! Sara and I were in Florida!! 😄😄
Lucky you! Although it was beautiful!
There's a pioneer grave in the Oregon desert near Bend. I can tell you where to find it. It's a mile or two from any paved road, but a flat hike. I'd love to see ruts running to/away from it, if it exists. There are also stage coach routes near Bend, with landmarks of camp sites and such. You could come visit and I'll show you around. I'd love to share it with everyone.
Thanks so much for viewing my video and the information provided about grave sites. FYI there is a grave site overlooking the Owyhee river where Pocahontas son Charbonneau is buried. Quite a story. Educated in Europe and quite a man, but wanted to be buried in the Oregon desert overlooking the river. I want to go there some time in spring. Ted
I have always, always wanted to see this! I didn't know that section of the trail even existed!
Conestoga wagons were not used on the Oregon trail.
Not True. They WERE used but NOT the main wagons used. Many references confirm that. I do appreciate your comment, and am very glad you watched the video. Ted
False, they were NOT used on the Oregon trail.@@tedbohlman2953
