Thank you for this. I am a therapist currently studying for EMCC Senior Practitioner in Coaching. It seems that most of the coaching books I have read so far have little or usually nothing on trauma. As it happens, some small scale research I conducted (unpublished) on qualified therapists a few years ago; most felt that their core training did not adequately prepare them for working with trauma. It's heartening to see that you deliver trauma informed coaching. Another step towards us being a trauma informed society.

Thanks for sharing this with us. There are many important considerations. I have found that the coaching space can sometimes be a place where you can bring and continue to process grief, but also a space just to lay it down for a while and reconnect with the person who was always there underneath it - both in role as coach and as a coachee. Coaching is often a tool to identify needs and considering what resources might be helpful to support the client in their journey. This feels like a good way of signalling options that lie more clearly beyond the boundaries of coaching. So important to talk about this - it touches us all!

A really valuable exploration with great insights for coaches of people transitioning into senior leadership. I found it helpful to consider the three themes emerging for these leaders - Competence, Identity and Relating to others. I agree the particular importance for the coach to create a safe space, be fully present for the leader, and work with what they bring up. Thank you, Ruth and Damion, for this conversation.

I’ve always believed that being outside is freeing, as nature is an energy of blue/green in vibration it’s automatically healing and it encourages transformation on an inner unspoken spiritual level as well as a physical level. Enabling the client to connect to themselves without interference. My true love is systemic coaching thank you Damion for doing this.
