Do you need a bigger spring because it sits vertical?

They are usually bigger in length smaller in wire size to allow more turns.

Hey man so I’ve got my garage door I’ve wanted to convert to holiday my concern is I wonder if the end bearing and shaft can be positioned from under the bracket as opposed to over the top Over the top will have the top of the tracks close to 8” from the ceiling since the cable pulleys and all are 6”+ from the top of the horizontal rails I’d like the rails to be a little closer than that more like 4” just to where the doors outer doesn’t scrub the ceiling when making the turn or when opened all the way flat My question is have you heard of it being done or can foresee any issues with doing that way I’ve studied it, measured, double checked, amd in my head I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work

Unfortunately you can not get the door any higher by having the spring line below the tracks as the door crests higher than the tracks when it opens. Walk out and watch your door now when it opens the top section will go higher than the tracks usually about the same height as the springs. 7-8" from the ceiling is about all you're going to get. Any less and the top of the door will hit the ceiling as it tries to go up.

I have a craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener. I removed the codes and put in a new pin in the keypad recently. That works great. When I pair any remote to my opener, two of my neighbors remotes now open my garage. I've gone through everything on the internet, but they simply say to forget the new codes and reset them. I've done it plenty of times and it still doesn't respond to only my remote. Any ideas? TIA.

It sounds like the neighbor has an older opener without the rolling code. Some of the newer remotes with work older openers. It has been a problem for a few years now. the only option is to program a keypad to the neighbors older openers (which is sometimes hard to convince a neighbor unless you know them well) or have them update the older out of date motors. Give us a call if you have any questions. 919-841-0030

I would have made it a 10ft door

This would require a contractor new engineering for the load beam and most homeowner associations would not allow the change to a taller door due to the aesthetics. Not too mention there are two doors and at that point both garage doors would need to be replaced as well. This setup did exactly what he needed without any exterior modifications 👍

I’m assuming you could have gotten rid of a lot of that unused track on the back end?

Yes you can we normally do but this one went so high it would not of interfered with what he was doing and he didn't want to patch holes and paint the ceiling.

I'm assuming if I want my rails up higher but not that high I could do the same ? I just need to go high enough to be able to install a side exterior door without it hitting the rail when I open the door.
