Targaryen Dynasty: The Complete History & Lore (Game of Thrones)
I guess Euron wasnt around
And we have Jon Snow who didn't want it
Why did Robert let the Greyjoy brothers live after that?
“Lord Hammer, my condolences.” “For what?” “You died in the battle” Fucking top tier hardest lines
She did refuse, and burned everyone alive. No blood was spilled.
You cant spill blood if it evaporates before falling

Daenerys should be the one to kill the Night King, because she is the fire of the title of the books: a song of ice and fire, and the Night King represents the ice.
The fact that any history about Targaryens or dragon lore that Daenerys knew was taught to her by his brother Viserys is wild . Still can't believe Viserys raised Dany from infancy and still chose to let him die like that !
Grayjoys are perfect examples of Scandinavian vikings. Lots of pride. And lots of losing.
They simply didn’t feel the need to invade, though that’s not to say that some houses weren’t interested in doing so at some point. The establishment of Dragonstone, driftmark, and claw isle by Valyrian houses that weren’t dragon lords heralded the eventuality of a future Valyrian conquest, but one that would have not happened for many years, possibly even decades or centuries had the doom not fallen upon Valyria
Dorne never did really “bend the knee” huh
Roberts army was absolutely stacked with great warriors idk what Balon thought he was
Tom, do you have a video showing the build-out of your cabin’s fire table? That would be interesting.
Imagine Tywin,Ned, Robert, Stannis, Baristan, Jaime, Roose, Jorah, Paxter, Randyl and Thoros of Myr are united agaisnt you. What chance u possible have lol it was definetly a stupid rebellion.
"Greyjoys are on the side of black" .....yeah not really....
Balon might've gotten away with it if he'd just declared independence. I doubt Robert cared enough about the Islands to go to war if they left. But attacking the mainland? Yeah, that wasn't gonna end well ^^;
Bobby B was strongest and healthiest during war Could have profited from a war against Dorne, the last Targaryen loyalists
A real big brain move for Balon. Trying to fight the entire kingdom in a period of internal stability. When it was obvious that every great house, except the Martells and potentially the Tyrells, will support the throne.
As a lions fan this isn’t how I wanted to win the division damn it packers I wanted the lions to kick your ass the old fashioned way Mano e Mano in a blaze of football glory you get better soon Jordan
Yeah idk about this. Aegon 3 was said the be a cold and distant man, but it specifically states the wealth of the realm increased greatly because of his frugality. And Aegon V was at wars all the time because he spent his reign trying to strip powers away from the nobility and give the power to commoners, sounds like a pretty good king to me.
Balon was enamored and delusional about the old way, instead of trying to build smth better on top of what his father did, which could still include reaving and plundering, he chose to destroy and plunge the Iron Islands back into the hole.
Because the hbo guys didn’t write it in that’s why wtf is this short trend where they claim the books are gospel responsible for the hbo show like I’m pretty sure it was production just being lazy and payroll budget y’all need to stop. Edit bro who tf even makes all this fan art I see ten new shorts a day all with OC art production???
I love that the Dothraki are slowly developing as a civilization, despite remaining the same dumb horseboys they've always been. Some more centuries, and they'll own fantasy Wall Street.
It's just bad writing
Well aerys thought rheagar was a traitor. He thought the Cornish betrayed rheagar. Plus he was mad and probably thought viserys would be better than rheagars son. Plus aegon was only a babe
Short answer, wasn’t worth their time or effort invading it.
Too bad GRR marting isn't going to finish the stories before he dies of morbid obesity
Absolutely ridiculous how they treated Theon when he came home. Faulting him for being essentially raised by the Starks.
That’s because his dad was a stubborn moron. Theon was weak for reverting to that mindset. That was the beginning of his fall!
“And that my children, is why you yell “Retard!” When you see an Ironborne walk past!”
We're censoring the word "naked" now?
Why would they even rebel outnumered 10:1 😂😂😂
😢😂😂😂
Exactly 💯
It's worth remembering that Ned grew up alongside his brother, Brandon, and his best friend, Robert Baratheon, so he must have trained with them and sparred with them numerous times and both were great warriors. He is also a lord and was the son to a lord which means he got some quality training and equipment right from an early age. He's also fought in two wars and come out alive and without any permanent injuries. He is not on the same level with the likes of Arthur, Barristan or Jaime, but he is way above an average fighter.
😮😮😂
I’ll really like to watch this as a series
Not probably. If Cregan doesnt play a significant role in the Dance the shows lost. Literally a whole section is about him marching south and serving as Hand.
The GoT spin-off I want is about those men in their prime! They are too cool
And somehow, Nightfall ended up in the possession of House Harlaw by the time of AGOT.
A lot of people don’t realize it, but the Starks taking Theon as a “hostage” and then training and raising him as one of them instead of treating him like a prisoner is practically the same thing Tywin tried to do marrying Tyrion to Sansa and Cersei to Loras. Securing a kingdom for the future generation. When balon died they would have installed Theon as lord of the iron islands and his loyalty likely would have remained to the starks/robert.
Um, No!!! Context is everything. He was trying to secure the North with Tyrion’s marriage, Stark’s were securing perhaps a sane future for the Iron Islands(minus direct control). Cersei to Loras? Hoping to get a functional, non-little person/Kingsguard heir out of Cersei’s womb. What in the world are you talking about? Each of their intentions were completely different. You cannot state “securing a kingdom” without details. Stark’s securing a kingdom, yes, securing a “stable” kingdom with the Greyjoys maybe more sane. Tywin? Only securing something for his own house. How in the world is Tyrion and Sansa as the head couple in the North “securing a kingdom”? Northerners would essentially rebel against that bloodline and create instability. Maybe a son, once of age and named ‘Stark’ may make that situation better(in 10 or more years), but that’s a long 10 years to think Northerners would have an ounce of respect/regard for the Lannister lord(Tyrion). Wow!
As a ward. He'd only be hostage if balon mis-stepped
He was a hostage.
Man can grow a majestic beard
Even for as stupid as the whole endeavor was overall, bro waited FIVE YEARS after Robert ascended the throne and shook up the order of things to make his move. When you make a breakaway move like that, you move when everyone is off their footing and can’t react right away, not when everyone’s regained their footing and can focus completely on you as the problem. Should have made his move during Robert’s Rebellion or just after he ascended the throne.
Edit: it was only after further watching other video shorts that I, an admitted non-book lore reader, have come to realize that Balon didn’t ascend his throne until after Robert took his, and the likely reason he “waited” five years is because he was using that time to rebuild the Ironborn Fleet.
The Greyjoy rebellion would be a good just 1 season show
It’d be great. There’s a lot more plot going on than I think many realize. Things were tense between Ned and Robert after the sack of King’s Landing. Working together to defeat the Greyjoy rebellion brought them close again. Plenty of drama to be had.
The disrespect Robert showed his own brother is absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for. Stannis could've easily betrayed Robert to King Aerys II, but instead he stayed loyal. Stannis held Storm's End while starving, took Dragonstone (Even though the Targaryens got away, which wasn't his fault), and decisively defeated the Iron Fleet. And yet, Robert still didn't appreciate any of this. King Robert only "awarded" him Dragonstone and a seat on his council due to duty. Robert was a terrible King, Husband, father, and brother. But yet he'll always be remembered as a conqueror, while Stannis will always be unliked and despised.
Robert gave Stannis a castle, a seat on his council and titles.
Dragonstone is the traditional seat of the legitimate heir and Master of Ships is a powerful position.
I think with the death of Lyanna he became a broken man
@@chapel3339only by the targaryan not the baratheon
@@chapel3339 ur not wrong. But stannis is the middle brother and next in life to inherit storms end. Instead he was giving dragonstone instead of his home and storms end went to his younger brother. He got shafted when u acc compare the 2. Storms end also had tens of thousands of loyal bannermen whilst dragonstone had a good chunk less. His council also wasnt appreciated or listened to by robert so bis time was wasted there
People dont understand that in his descriptions of faraway people in asoiaf hes reflecting how innaccurate and wild accounts got in the medieval times when talking about people from far away, like for instance people really gave accounts that people in east asia had animal heads instead of human ones
Did the Frey's ever have any honor? And after the Red Wedding, they definitely had absolutely no honor.
Cersei's thought process is questionable to say the least, but you'd have to agree with her when she said that Robert should have killed the greyjoys rebels after their defeat and put someone else more malleable in their place, perhaps a child theon or one of the distant branches
Cersei suggested genocide. She was wrong as usual. If there's anyone Robert should have killed, it should have been Balon. After killing Cersei herself of course.
@@CatotheEexecute Balon and all his brothers, make Theon a figurehead, take hostages of all houses, keep them divided by giving more power to that house that everyone hates cause their are descendants of thralls, limit the navy they are allowed to keep, sponsor the Faith of Seven to expand like never before in those territories, give the Reach and the Lannisters the power remake those Islands, a lot of things that could had been done but let's be frank who has the time to actually try to shape the Islands and their people into something other than a pest for the rest of the Kingdom, that could take decades or more. I can see why in such a limited mind like Cersei's just going full Assyrian could be a good idea, she doesn't consider that it sets a bad precedent and any new rebel would be galvanized to fight to the bitter end since genocide is a very real possibility or that the place left open by the Ironborn could be filled by new invaders, that being said Robert's reprisal was absolutely pathetic.
@@g.sergiusfidenas6650 Robert's plan wasn't a bad one. If he hadn't been murdered by Cersei, Theon would have gone home, inherited and been a friend to the STAB alliance. He should have executed the older Greyjoys though. Leave a regent and take Theon as a ward. Send him back when he turns 16 (adulthood). He also should have married a Hightower instead of Cersei. Release Jaime from the kingsguard, execute Gregor and Lorch and arrange a marriage between Renly and Arianne. Stannis can have Storms End. Unite the Stormlands and the Crownlands again under him.
Bobby B in his prime was an absolute beast. And Stannis was equivalent to the god of war. He fought on water, a relatively inexperienced territory for him, and won against the bloody greyjoys, whose whole life was spent on the seas reaving. One is charismatic and inspiring for the troops, and the other is a genius strategist and tactician. Grrm knows they'd be too powerful if the two brothers had good relations and worked with eachother
