Not well researched. You didn't mention the kevlar lining and the quality of pads that they provide. Sure u can get knee pads and jeans. But if u get good abbrasive resistant jeans (which even then won't have kevlar lining) that'll be at least 4k. Good knee pads are at least 3k. So for 7k, you get a less protective pant system that is a little less effective (due to fitting issues of pads), bulky, ugly, and impractical (which was your original issue with riding pants). For 10k this pant is definitely worth it.
