No he didn't. Mercedes appealed but no investigation needed. That's because max was ahead going into T1 and T2. Lewis just broke later at T1 so it looked like he was alongside but he was never making the apex at T2. Max did put a squeeze on him tho. Any driver would because there's only one optimal racing line into T1-T2 and max had it. Would've compromised max if he gave more space to lewis. It was an agressive move but fully legal. Lewis would've done the same especially considering the kind of chicane it is.

You’re not required to leave 1 car’s width of space on the exit of a corner. Only on the entry of one. It’s entirely up to the stewards to penalize this on a case by case basis depending on how they feel that day. Nearly everybody gets this wrong. Nobody has ever looked at the 2021 sporting code, but they’ll be super confident citing ‘black and white rules’ that don’t exist. 2022 and onwards is different however. I think they slightly changed the rules to make sure the car that’s ahead at the apex must get at least a car’s width of space.

The rules allow it, they even favor the driver on the inside. So why shouldn't he exploit these rules if its possible? Only because its 'not nice'? Being nice doesnt bring you championships. And with Hamilton having a arguably faster car throughout the year Max had to go 110% and use every advantage he could get.

@@zammyxzant but that is only true because red bull fell off towards the end of the season In the opening rounds they were by far the quickest car. It was only strategy mistakes and driver errors that allowed Mercedes to go 3/4 early season And that red bull was utterly ridiculous across the mid-season, it was virtually untouchable until Turkey when Merc drew level then they went ahead in the final 4 rounds

The only reason Merc took 3 from the first 4 was because of driver error and poor strategy From Spain to Turkey they were well clear (Silverstone was a blip which I put down to home turf advantage) Mercedes levelled out at Turkey but weren’t the quickest until the final 4 rounds
