Don’s jewelry making and Japan Travels
United States
Приєднався 22 жов 2011
This channel is about the making of jewelry and travels around Japan. I’ve been a designer and jewelry craftsman for over 35 years. Worked for all the major retailers in the US and traveled just about everywhere in the US making jewelry. Also traveled in Japan found demonstration on making jewelry as well for many years. This channel gives a small look at both those. Hope you enjoy watching and hopefully will get a little something from them as well.
Will also be sharing my experiences in Jewelry CAD designing and making the transition from Matrix 9 to Matrix Gold. I will be uploading Gemvision Matrix 9 and MatrixGold how to videos in order for you to have a better understanding of the program and design techniques. I attended several in house class lessons and hope to pass the knowledge on to you. Matrix 9 is an awesome designing software and MatrixGold just adds another dimension for you to explore.
Safe travels and good designing!

Hi Don, just found your videos while going through matrix academy looking for more help. Great video - I'm wondering how you got Matrix to show a thumbnail picture of your custom ring profiles? Mine just shows the rhino logo
I can’t remember but I think it has something T X with one drive. They say turn it off I believe. I’ll see if I can find it again.
@@donsjewelrymakingandjapantraveI will try, thank you. Looking forward to watching some more of your videos!
Thanks a lot Don.
Thanks for the very good info. Don.
Thank you Don sir very helpul.
Hey Don, thanks for explaining the steps when going from a polysurface to a nurbs surface. Really enjoy your videos!
thanks Don, this is great ! With my german keyboard I have to use str or ctrl for deselect instead of alt
Thank you Don! Always incredibly helpful!
How come some times you can turn on points but sometimes you cant? It seems to be when something is a "surface" you can turn on points, but when it is a "polysurface" you cant. What is the difference between a polysurface and a surface? And if you have an object you cant turn points on, is there a way to convert it into a surface so you can? I did a sweep 2 on something yesterday and in one instance it turned into a surface, but when I performed sweep 2 in another instance on something else, it turned it into a polysurface, so I was not able to edit points and got stuck. Sorry for the long question!
I will upload a video on the differences between polysurface and a nurbs surface to try to explain it a little better. But basically, a polysurface is made up of more than one nurbs surfaces. A nurbs surface is one single surface which you are able to turn on points for editing. You can explode a polysurface and merge the surfaces together to make a nurbs surface and then turn on points for editing. Polycurves will give you a polysurface because the curves are made up of more than one curve joined together which some profile curves are made of. You can rebuild those curves which will change the polycurve into a nurbs curve. Difficult to explain with text so maybe the video will offer a little better explanation for you. So please be watching for the upload.
I just uploaded a video on Nurbs and Polysurfaces and how to convert to be able to maintain shape and edit points. I hope it will help you. If you have further questions, please let me know.
@@donsjewelrymakingandjapantrave Thank you so much! You are always so helpful!
Can anyone tell me why my rectangles turn into ellipses after I draw my fourth point?
More than likely you have the view set at smooth instead of box mode. If you click on the cone shape on the far right, you can switch from box mode to smooth mode.
You are the best, I learn with your videos every morning drinking my coffee!
lol, thanks for watching. Just know my mug of coffee is always sitting in front of me when I am making the videos so basically, we are drinking coffee together. lol Love the comment.

You can click on any of the cog wheels and go to preferences and click on troubleshooting and just reset User Interface. That should take you back to all the defaults.

Thank you sir.its very helpful..for learning 3d design cad
Excellent tutorial I like 👊
Thanks Don.
Thanks 👍❤
Don, this is a different kind of work.
lol Yea, I just ran across a new software AI program and wanted to play around with it. Sorry!
Thanks a lot Don.
I made this video complete. But there is a problem. If you smartflow the design, then make intersection its ok. You get a closed polysurface. Then mirror that also ok. You get two pieces of closed polysurface. Then boolean them the result is open polysurface. I analysed it. In the middle of the two pieces where you booelean them is by one side an opening. How do we have to solve this?
Can you give me the time in the video where you are talking about? I'll check it out.
Nice work. I’ve done similar but I’d sweep1 I always forget about loft
