Переглядів 1647 місяців тому
A honey bee colony outgrew its hive, so the colony was split in two. Half the bees swarmed a nearby tree branch for a day while scouts went out to find a suitable new home for them. I was very lucky to be there just as they all departed for their new home.

Two apologies: sorry for the blurry first clip (not sure what happened there), and sorry for the deceptively dour music - while the little critters might not agree at the time, prescribed burns are a good thing in the grand scheme of things.

Really great shots very cinematic very good job!!!!

Awesome footage! I’m looking into getting a drone for storm footage, do you have any preferences or specific reccomendations for a beginner?
For storm footage, flying drones is a risky business. I don't know of any water resistant drones, so if it's raining, you risk ruining the motors. You also are at a greater risk of losing the whole drone either because of rain or strong winds that either blow your drone away or force it into a tree, water, or other obstacle. Also, capturing timelapse photography like this is a challenge because while drones try to stay relatively geostationary, there is still going to be some drift as it fights against the winds. There is a feature to lock on a target, but in cases like in this video, there is no strong target to lock onto. So what I do is use a stabilization tool in your video editing software. I use DaVinci Resolve, which does a good job of stabilizing and locking the camera. Also, another challenge doing timelapses is your limited battery life. I had to descend twice to change batteries to capture all this footage, and you can see a transition partway through the timelapse. Because of that, I tried to stay consistent with location, I just went straight up from my property with the same orientation, ascending to the same altitude and hoped for the best.
@@JeffreyGreene Awesome advice, thanks - any recommendation for a drone to buy as a beginner who has little flight experience.
@@OneNationWX start cheap, and under 250 grams so you can decide if you want to invest further. Learn about the requirements to getting a drone license. Also about impacts on ever increasing legislation limiting what you can do it even what you can fly. That said, I've had three different DJI Mini Pro models and have been happy with them. But if you get more serious about flying near stormy weather, you'll eventually want to consider something larger and more stable. But you would be amazed at how well a little mini pro sub 250g drone can do, considering
@@JeffreyGreene I appreciate you, man! Thanks for your help. Have a great weekend!
was there a tornado warning? from what im seeing, those are shelf clouds, supercells, and possible condensated tornado
There was no tornado warning issued for the Madison area. According to the NWS, there were small tornadoes reported to the east of Madison.
@@JeffreyGreene good to know.

What do they eat?? Dont they need grain or something?
Wild turkeys are opportunistic omnivores, they'll eat almost anything. Around here, they scratch around to find insects and seeds, and they will pick berries off various plants.
@@JeffreyGreene thank u
