so i used Procreate Dreams along with normal Procreate for this one, and while it's a little difficult to get used to its timeline and the fact it doesn't have a select tool, i gotta say it's much easier controlling camera movements and quickly adding frames
anyways YEE i had a very vivid idea for this song, so it's very satisfying to have done it pretty much as imagined :] we'll just ignore that Marya's hairstyle makes n o sense ":]

when my best friend said "natasha's so dramatic" i thought she was joking... istg girl.. But the art was amazing! specially the faces, the mannerisms, how natasha covered her ears because she's so sure of their "love", damn, this is my second time hearing the song and i want to hear the whole musical just to comprehend better whats going down here. you're a great artist!
Teenagers, man, so dramatic... 😔 (said the 17-year old) PLEASE DO listen to it if you're curious!! This might be a slightly awkward song to discover the musical through continuity-wise, but REGARDLESS Great Comet is SUPER worth your time!!

No way, not only a Great Comet animatic in 2024 but of one of my favorite songs?? The emotion you draw from this is so good, it really sucks you into the emotions of the scene, and I feel you really managed to highlight how young Natasha is in a very natural way, which is such an important facet to understand her character and the tragedy of her situation. I'm never getting over the sheer sharpness and emotion Marya's voice

It's so interesting to think about how without context, Marya seems like the villain in this equation, but after reading the context in another comment, you can see that she's absolutely in the right??? Is there like. Anywhere that I can watch or listen to the musical? Is it on UA-cam? This was super interesting even without the context, but now that I KNOW the context, I'm kind of MORE interested...

She sounds awful and cruel when taken out of context, but in the musical it makes so much more sense, and Maria and Sonya were just trying to protect Natasha from a man who tried to whisk her away in the middle of the night and was trying playing with her, emotions were just runming high in the moment :<, Maria's actually quite nice
Yes absolutely!! Honestly I kinda dislike how much I exaggerated Marya's fury here. It was fun to draw her so emotional but MAN it paints her character in a worse light than she deserves lol ":\
@@mmishelovka Your animation is lovely and I love how you displayed her anger though! Of course she's mad, honestly I wouldve been too. She has a bit of a short fuse, and her god daughter nearly put herself in danger along with everyone else because she was young, naive, and didnt think this through. Natasha didnt know it, but she was technically in danger, and doesnt even seem to know it still. Of course she's mad! The god daughter she loves did something stupid that couldve been really bad! This is more for the people who may have not see the musical and didnt know the context, I love your animation, I love poor Sonya trying to comfort and be comforted by Natasha :c

@@mmishelovka No,no, you did perfect on showing these emotions. If I remember correctly Marya is described as stern too. I think her reaction makes sense with her character, but her being furious doesn't mean that she doesn't care about Natasha. My grandma is exactly like this.

A Great Comet animatic in this day and age? I love how every time I find myself dragged (willingly, to be fair) back into the fandom, some one has just made an incredible animatic for it. Like, this is amazing and I'm so happy the fandom is still going strong. It's also hilarious how many people it seems you've converted just at a quick glance through the comments. I love how you've drawn all of them; your art style in general is just amazing. You portray emotion so well and there's so many little details I could point out that it would take hours! This is, quite frankly, incredible.

Oh absolutely! I love when animatics make people learn about media! And you absolutely deserve all the recognition this is getting because damn, this is gorgeous. Great Comet really does deserve more recognition!! I will say, in genuinely the kindest way possible, the fandom for it is kind of like a cockroach because it just refuses to die (and I absolutely love it). I've definitely been in and out of it since maybe 2017 and it's always so fun to see that there's still people making stuff for it :D
I swear, when I have time, I'm definitely going to come back and write down all the little things I adore about this because it's just amazingly done!

God the art in this is so good! This whole scene really heightens just how YOUNG Natasha is in all this. When Marya points out the obvious red flags in this entire failed elopement Natasha acts like a child throwing a temper tantrum because she doesn't have any real answer to her questions other than her and Anatole being "in love". This poor girl was manipulated by a man nearly ten years her senior into giving up her engagement, her status, and nearly her life. Yes, Marya could have been nicer to Natasha about it, but at this point Natasha needed the bandaid ripped off because it could have gone so much worse if she hadn't stopped them from running off.
Right?? It's so telling that even from the start Natasha sees Anatole as good-natured and almost naive like her. You really get the sense that she just can't imagine anyone having ulterior motives, not Anatole, not Hélène convincing her to visit the ball,,, It's pretty understandable too that Marya would be so furious - if a little recklessly so - over all this, having learned something that's been going on for weeks (i assume? if more time had passed during "Sonya Alone"??) behind her back, RIGHT before Natasha was to run off, it would make anyone frenzied to make sure the girl stays Just MAN this song is 🤌✨
It all just highlights why Natasha's character is introduced in the opening as being young. Not good. Not nice. Not kind. Natasha is YOUNG!
