Great video. I was guessing #1 would be the Raiders from the start. Maybe I'm thinking of Super Tecmo Bowl, but you could select the plays for each team, swapping out the default plays. Also, on every team defense, you could select the nose guard and 99% of time sack the quarterback on the snap. I played through to the Super Bowl with each team and destroyed them by 50+ points most of the time, but it was still actually difficult to go undefeated. Each season there would be that one game where your team fumbled 5 times and your all-star defense couldn't tackle for sh%t.

At least my Raiders are number one at something.

Otis Williams for the Giants is a monster at RB 100 hitting power. Chiefs are the best with Okoye at RB and Derrick Thomas terrorizing rushers and recievers.

We REALLY got into TECMO BOWL big time back in the day. We liked it much better than Tecmo Super Bowl to play each other because we made modified rules. 1) NO UNSTOPPABLE PLAYS - If the defense "picked the play", then the offense can't pass the ball. 2) PASS INTERFERENCE - If the offense accidentally completes a pass on a "picked play" then the offense has to take a sack on the next play. 3) KICK PROTECTION - No blocked extra points. And no blocked field goals if the line of scrimmage is in the red zone. 4) FUMBLE RULE - One time per half, the defense (at anytime) can announce a possible fumble. The offense rolls a dice and if it is a "2-6", nothing happens. If the roll is a "1", then it is a turnover...which would be an unsuccessful field goal attempt. 5) ONSIDE KICK - An intentional muffed kick off. Then the defense gets a free Fumble Rule (dice roll of 1 out of 6). Here is the general ranking of Tecmo Bowl with the modified rules that we played with: 1) Chicago 2) San Franciso 3) Giants 4) Washington 5) L.A. Raiders 6) Cleveland 7) Denver 8) Seattle 9) Miami 10) Indy 11) Dallas 12) Minnesota Yeah....we really got into it! Good Times!!!

Cleveland was the best kept secret on this game.

Combst mechanics can definitely be improves but its very good for an rpg of this scale. Just progress mainquest until bernard trains you. Learn some of the basics. And then learn on the job. And every now and then take some extra lessons from bernard. Learn a combo or two. The combat itself is ok. But the sense of progression is amazing. How u are a peasant unable to make a dent in some butter to a capable warrior near mid game depending on playstyle

In my opinion it was San Francisco and Chicago. I seen people beat Bo Jackson and them raiders.

Never played the original. But if it was Tecmo SB then you'd have to add Detroit and KC to the list. My best friend and I would have epic battles of Sanders vs Okoye.

Boy, it would be really nice if the game communicated some of this. It kind of annoys me that the game keeps pushing you to jump into the next quest when you need to spend hours training to actually be able to do anything in the game. Absolutely breaks me how pointless ripostes can feel in the game when your opponent just ripostes you right back.

Raiders were my favorite team on Tecmo Bowl. I used Greg Townsend on defense. The slant to Todd Christensen was my most reliable play.

KC is really good too, Derrick Thomas is the only defender in the game who can tackle Bo 1 on 1 and keep up with him running the ball.

Honorable Mention. Eric Dickerson with the colts

Take a horse to bernard and hop over the fence into the ring, then leave the horse there. Initiate training. Climb up the horse and start swinging your weapon, or jump out of the ring with the horse. You can break a lot of sequences in the game with horse jump as they can hop onto buildings and such.

Tecno Super Bowl is better.

Solid video and advice, i would however not recommend a buildguide/leveling guide from the start. Just get going, try some stuf out and check it if things really start to stand still for a while. I think comparison is the enemy of joy, and i enjoyed my first 20 hours completely blind on launch with everyone else way more than i did with a buildguide later on in the game. That said, for a more casual player who only wants the gameplay, and not so much the numbers and mechanics this works well.

Solid tips. I uninstalled in endgame. It basically becomes a different game, and I'm not welcome to the club. It is a shame, there is so much potential there.

For me I use the bears playbook and here is what I do, Gun, Spread, Inside zone, and most of the time it is a weak box so just pound it up the middle, when they tighten and load the box, then go play action

Glad to see Elway's Broncos make the list, and Mecklenberg get some love! But i was surprised Mark Jackson got mentioned since he was very slow from what I remember. the combo of Elway and Tony Dorsett was the offensive weapon I remember using the most. Dorsett could be hit on the slant even if covered if you timed it right and then had the speed to take off.

when i was a Freshman in college we used to hook up 2 TVs to 1 Nintendo and have the TVs in separate rooms 2 players would go in 1 room while the others sat in the 2nd room, and the 2nd room would place bets on the game not knowing who was controlling which team so you didn't know which of your buddies was at the controls. it made for some unpredictable games and lots of fun during boring winter nights in the mountains. of course, by Junior and Senior year I found other ways to have fun, hahaha.

I hope the game fix the bugs it had with combats. The game is both very animation heavy and has physical hit detection. This means that some combos and master strikes will miss the enemy completely if the fight is not taken at a flat ground. There’s a combo that can knock people down to the ground, but the lock on still target the air as if they are still standing, making that combo pretty much useless.

The Giants are the best team. The Phill to Bravo pass is unstoppable. The Giants whole defense is fast. Joe Morris is nice also. The Redskins is neck & neck with the Giants. Their WRs is better than the Giants.
