Aluminium precipitate
Some potassium aluminate solution from my previous video is placed in test tube. Few ml of vinegar is added to solution and stirred little bit. White precipitate of aluminium acetate (maybe?) is formed.

Putting some KOH drain cleaner grains on aluminium foil and adding water to grains. Reaction is really exothermic and it boils the water. It products hydrogen and potassium aluminate. Reaction goes something like this: KOH Al H2O = 2 H2 K2Al2O4. You shouldn´t try this experiment without proper safety. Please don´t breath the steam from the reaction because it has small amount of hydroxide disol...
It was Uyeno method method eh? ...... Bubbles were hydrogen?
Can you explain me to how changes the solutions ph
Isn't this the same they use for chemical cremations?
Can you ignite lace soaked with KOH + H2O?
Ashraf Soliman So thats not a good idea for making a fuse
The hydroxide should have been dissolved in water. You can make up to a 50% concentration lye, which would get hot but would not boil. Then drip the lye onto the aluminum foil. You never add water to dry sodium or potassium hydroxide, as you risk some violent splattering. In this instance, the boiling probably launched a larger amount of caustic into the air.
i have done this experiment in my home. my home was filled with a VERY irritant gas.
+Epzilonz Do you have a good Lab Report for it?
+Teodor Micic i did this in my kitchen
+Epzilonz Well, me to.
+Teodor Micic it gets really hot.
+Epzilonz I did it and it produced tons of Ammonia gas...whole area was filled with ammonia. don't know how..
According to wikipedia, aluminium acetate is water soluble. That may be Aluminium subacetate, which is normally water insoluble.
potassium hydroxide is highly caustic
thanks
exothermic
where is the acid? potassium hydroxide is a base!
isn't it also very endothermic?
acid on water, never water on acid oO....
It’s alkaline I think
nice video, wat do u plan to do with the alumnium acetate? :)
how do u get the alumnium back out of solution in a insoluable form to make alumnium powder? plz and tyvm
2KOH + 2Al + 6H2O = 3H2 +2K[Al(OH)4]
It's 2kAlo2 +3H2
Not problem i undestand :P
