Hurricane Francine updates (full experience)

I like to shoot updates for hurricanes to keep everyone not from Louisiana in the loop for what happenings. There is some bad singing, wind and rain and a old techno man involved. #beekeeper #bee #hurricane #hurricanefrancine #louisiana #livingstonparish

Always bring a lighter for your smoker. They are helpful for moving bees and sugar water doesn't work so well for that. #bee #beekeeper #beekeeping #honey

It's August 7 and I've got to go see if I killed a queen when I marked her and check to see if the released queen survived. #bee #beekeeper #beekeeping #honey

I would definitely recommend combining that Hive with a stronger one because there is hardly know population there at all and no significant brood pattern at all or maybe condense them down to a five frame nuc
That’s not a defensive hive, but the low population makes it a weak one. If that’s your only hive it won’t make it through winter, if you have other hives combine them.
This
Looks like you have laying workers...Queen is likely gone...which explains why they were irritable before
Got to look after that mullet...lol. But well done for growing it, hope you keep it going too! Are you going to get curls? Hope so, would be a look.
I want full permed mullet but I'm not patient enough to do that
@@goofycur The gain is worth the pain Friend...lol! Got to get the curls for perfection 😊
I noticed a lot of ants on your boxes
What brand is your hive?
That's a HiveIq box. I really like them
That hair is wild!
It's come a long way from being shaved lol
Enjoying your night crawler vests. Wondering where you are located. Weather seem similar to my location in Baton Rouge La. Thanks Jay
Right outside of Denham
Good job
Thanks
Where are you located?
Baton Rouge area
Why wait a week? Give a frame or a new queen now. Then the hive will sooner have a new, laying queen.
I want to make sure they are 1000% hopelessly queenless before I give them eggs
awesome , good luck with the new queens.
Fingers crossed!
I agree that we need to show our successes and our failures. I hope everything was fine when you got back two weeks later. ~ Sandra
That looks neat!
Is that free bees or freebies..??❤❤
I just thought the same thing 😂
Nice
Just buy some new colonies and sell the honey to recover.🤷 Hopefully, you didn't kill them. 👍🍻
Great info I am a big wormm guy! Cheers!
Lol, love it!!
Oat meal and corn flour
You are a nice guy! I like your channel.
Worms don’t eat peat moss nor coco coir .. that’s why they get angry at you if you don’t feed them 😊👍🏽
Thanks. Great info. I'm just starting out with ENC worms. I've got Red Wigglers already.
Matt made a double walk a way split all worked now have 3 hives.
Your doing a great job
Thanks!
That's a lot of smoke for a colony that doesn't even look strong enough to be in a deep yet. Don't bee scared homie <3
It’s intimidating the first few weeks in this
Awesome Matt! Bees are pretty cool and especially helpful with gardening. Glad to see your back posting. I missed some of your videos and will start catching up. Are you still doing anything with your worms?
We moved when I retired and I’m just now getting my life back together lol. Worm content is coming back within the next two to three weeks
@@goofycur sounds great hope you are doing well.
Your queen excluder on the big hive is the wrong way around. Flip it 90° and the bees can move to the other boxes easily.
Face palm….. guess I messed that up
Spray some honey water on the new frames, works great for motivating the bees.
Great tip!
First year bees thrive on neglect. Personally I wouldn't add a super for another couple of weeks and you can stop feeding them. When you do add frames make sure that they have a decent coat of wax. I also paint a bit of honey on mine so that the bees move across the frames. The honey that is filling your first frames is from the sugar water that you are giving them.
I checked them yesterday and they are moving into those new frames thank goodness
Hi Matt, looking forward to watching your progress this year. Greetings from 55° North in England. If you are only running a few hives, as a new beekeeper with fiesty bees you may want to consider a perspex viewing panel under the metal roof.
Thank you! They have calmed down I think. Hopefully they stay that way
Good job on the smoker lol. keep up the work with the bees.
Thanks, will do!
This is great! Pawpaw Sammy has a suggestion if you’re having an ant problem. Find something to make small legs for your hives (could be anything- like tea light candles or pvc pipe), and place those “legs” in water. That way the ants can’t go through the water and up to the hive! (The water makes a barrier)
Paw paw Sammy for the win
Hi well done Where did you get the yellow internal frame feeders please?
Amazon!
hi from Greece !!
Welcome!!
Welcome the the club.
Thanks!
Looks like you did a great job. Keep us informed on the progress of the bees.❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Will do!
My Texas bees will light you up without a suit, but gotta love it... Great start
Thank you!
When you bend over your veil touches your face, bees will find that eventually and tag you on the tip of your nose/chin. If you wear a cap under the veil the bill pushes that veil out, some veils have a flappy stiff piece that velcros it out.
Thank you for the tip!
They did get me on the chin at my friends hive
Earth worms and red wigglers love cardboard.
😂😂😂😂
Congratulations on your 🐝 🎉
My dad won’t wear a suit. He had me filming one day and sure enough I was the one who got stung…not him!
These ladies where very angry from the car ride but calmed down after about 5 minutes. I probably will end up without a suit
@Nightcrawler Composting maybe pickup a veil at least. It's all good....until it's not! Enjoy your bees!
One day your dad will get stung directly in the eyeball, and everytime people ask how he lost an eye he'll have to tell the story about how he used to think he looked tough because he used to refused to wear a bee suit, and now he has to wear a suit because he realises hes only one eye away from being handicapped from bees 😂
Hey Matt saw your post on Pawpaw Sammy’s channel and decided to check out your channel! New subscriber
matt do not have your number, Call Rusty he has not call me back.Call him and ask for my number ,
Where do you get your worms?
Hey man cool video, what temperature do you have to keep them at in order for them to live?
So do red wigglers!
Followed you for a while and looking forward to a return!
