Mom’s Beaker Kigu
My most recently completed project, a beaker kigu for my moma. After posting the original video on TikTok i got many requests to see mom in the kigu! So here are both parts. I am so proud of this and so happy my mom likes her new Kigurumi. 💚🧪
I take custom kigu commissions on my site FoxAndOtterCreations.com or through Etsy 🪡

how to turn thigh highs into tights! need... - thigh highs (or leggings, or boot covers, or another pair of tights, etc.) - dance tights (or leggings) - scissors - pins - preferably a serger. this might be possible using a stretch zigzag stitch on a regular machine. also I apologize for the occasional terminology mix up, filmed this on the fly after work.

    Is there any historical context for that tie or is that just author making Victorianish stuff up?

    • @foxandottercreations
      @foxandottercreations 7 місяців тому

      There appears to be some historical precedence, such as ascots tied in a bow. but it seems like the manga artist made the tie knot WITH the bow out of thin air.

      I made the tie itself. Its basically just a long tube of fabric, turned right sides out. Then cut the ends into shape and use a ladder stitch to close them with the raw edges on the inside.

      @@foxandottercreations Cool. you should make a video on how to make it, I was thinking of maybe using a nice silk material so It could actually be worn out with an actual suit. I think it be a cool idea.

      @@ScreamingBanchie i may do that. Thank you for the suggestion. (and yes silk would look so nice. I used a crepe fabric so the texture would help the knot hold)

    May I ask what embroidery machine you use and anything else to convert what you design into patterns for it? My mother has been looking for one for some time but all the machines we have looked into don't allow you to use your own patterns. They only let you use pre-made patterns and text, or buy extra ones off of their brands store.

    • @foxandottercreations
      @foxandottercreations 2 роки тому

      I use “embrillance stitch artist” as a digitizing software to turn images into embroidery designs. It has a bit of a learning curve but there are lots of great tutorials right here on youtube. My machine is a Bernette b79 combination sewing and embroidery machine. They do make a just embroidery machine as well. It has preloaded designs but will also accept a USB stick for new designs. Whether from your own work or bought from other artits or etc. The only learning xurve to the b79 i have experienced is because it is an international machine all the settings are indicated by symbols and there are no words. However its fairly easy once you get used to it, has a large embroidery space, and can make a lot of adjustments. Good luck to your mother!

      @@foxandottercreations Thank you so much for the reply. But hooo that's a costly machine. All the ones we have seen are average sewing machine prices between 200-500. But almost 2k? I guess that covers the idea of accepting patterns outside what comes stock. My mother got a brother brand two years ago but found it had no means to load in custom designs and made you buy designs off their website. It was a swift return due to not having even the basic of patterns she wanted, like eyes for her plushes. She does stuffed animals and other cute crafts as a hobby and has wanted something like this for ages but that is far too much for just a fun hobby. Would you know of any other machine that can accept user made patterns?

    • @foxandottercreations
      @foxandottercreations 2 роки тому

      @@samanthalorenz7410 there are many machines on the market that can load custom made patterns. Unfortunately most of them run in the same range as my machine. The cheaper ones also have a smaller embroidery area. If you have a local shop I would suggest going in and asking them what they would recommend. it might also be worth looking at older machines online (such as ebay). My last machine i got used for $500 and it could load custom patterns, but had to be physically connected to a pc to do so.

    I'm practicing this knot entirely based from your tutorial and I'm really grateful! I wonder, how did you find out this thing? It looks exactly like Alucard's 1:40 that line delivery was cute LOL

    • @foxandottercreations
      @foxandottercreations 2 роки тому

      I'm sorry it took me so long to respond! Honestly it was a lot of trial and error. I researched a bunch of different modern and historical ties before just spending time just messing around untill i had a knot i think looked right. The biggest clue for me was that Alucard’s tie knot had a Windsor look. Instead of a bow. (and thank you about my delivery lol)

    • @foxandottercreations
      @foxandottercreations 3 роки тому

      Unfortunatly I do not have a great way to explain it other than how I did in the video. The “bow” is part of the tie, and is just two loops where the fabric is folded over on itself. I’m sorry i don’t know how to make it clearer. Slowing down the vido might make it easier to follow along.

    I'm curious I some pattern companies more in the costuming category. I'm familiar with the main companies and a few others, but where to you go for the more costume style patterns?

    • @foxandottercreations
      @foxandottercreations 4 роки тому

      I often use Simplicity. They do have a costume section and tend to put out more in fall. Butterick & McCalls also both have pretty good historical sections. after that It would really depend on what you are looking for. for example if you are doing a cosplay reaching out to other cosplayers who have made the same garment to ask where thy got their pattern and/or do they sell the pattern. big names like Yaya Han and Fireflypath often contract out with commercial pattern companies to sell their stuff. other people like Kamui cosplay have their own website with patterns available. For historical garments finding a local reenactment group can be really helpful. don't be afraid to buy multiple patterns and piece it together. like if you want the silhouette of one garment with the sleeves of another. I hope this answers your question. feel free to reach out again and good luck!
