Night in The Life of An Austin Comic (VLOG #2)
I had Ramon follow me around with the camera again for comedy vlog #2. We filmed this all over the course of a few hours on Friday December 6th, 2024 in Austin Texas.

In this vlog, Joe takes viewers through a packed evening filled with personal reflections, comedy, and camaraderie. Starting with updates about his new apartment, he shares how running helps him stay grounded before diving into preparations for the night’s activities (feat Dean Stanfield).
The night unfolds with stops at Rozcos and Sunset Strip, where Joe performs multiple sets and mingles with fellow comedians, including Spencer Cavins, Josh Francis, and Bianca Parado. Memorable moments include a lighthearted disagreement with JJ Liberman, gear try-ons, and unexpected encounters on the streets of Austin. Joe also shares insights on show production, overcoming booking challenges, and reflecting on his growth over the past year. The vlog wraps up with Joe’s post-set reflections, a walk home, and a recap of the night’s highlights, offering a thoughtful and down-to-earth look at the life of a working comedian.
This stand-up comedy set takes a detailed and engaging look at Texas culture, audience interactions, and the challenges of performing live comedy. The set opens with an introspective exploration of a universal question for comedians: when a joke doesn’t land, is it the idea itself or the way it’s delivered? This behind-the-scenes glimpse into the joke-writing process sets the stage for a performance packed with cultural observations, crowd work, and humor that feels both thoughtful and spontaneous.
The focus quickly shifts to the quirks of Texas life, with a humorous critique of the Texas football app and its design. The discussion deepens with a playful examination of Texas A&M traditions, diving into the unique concept of “yell leaders” as opposed to traditional male cheerleaders. This comedic exploration of Aggie culture brings a fresh perspective to the traditions that define Texas, blending wit with cultural analysis.
From bantering with audience members about their clothing choices to riffing on a cowboy hat-wearing attendee, the crowd interactions bring an element of unpredictability to the show. Highlights include a memorable reference to an “anaconda squeeze” and playful exchanges about audience behavior, creating a performance that feels lively and unscripted.
The set also provides a detailed look at the creative process behind stand-up comedy. The performer reflects on the trial-and-error nature of joke writing, emphasizing the importance of testing material and refining delivery. These insights offer viewers a rare behind-the-scenes perspective on how comedians craft their art, blending structured material with spontaneous improvisation.
This performance is a masterclass in balancing cultural commentary, audience engagement, and personal storytelling. From Texas traditions and football culture to the real-time challenges of live comedy, this set offers something for everyone. It’s a celebration of the unpredictable, interactive, and highly creative world of stand-up comedy.

Attempting a Triathlon with No Training

For episode number two of Joe Does, I sent a triathlon with no training. This is how it went. Here is a longer description that I did not write for SEO: In this video, I attempt the ultimate endurance challenge: completing a triathlon with absolutely zero training. Join me as I dive headfirst into the open water, struggle through the swim, push my legs to their limit during the bike ride, and s...

In December of 2019, I recorded this tape at the Elbow Room in West Hartford, Connecticut. The overwhelming majority of the crowd was friends and family. This venue was not a comedy club. The budget was $250. It was a two camera setup in the basement of a loud bar, shot on one take by Jesse Green. As such, there are a lot of rough cuts and transitions in here. Moments where people interrupted, ...
How to Spot a Fake Shure SM58
Переглядів 1944 місяці тому
I brought a fake Shure SM58 on eBay. I'm obviously not too happy about it. I recently purchased what I thought was a genuine Shure SM58 microphone on eBay, but it turned out to be a counterfeit. Needless to say, I’m feeling pretty frustrated and disappointed with the situation. I had expected to receive a high-quality, industry-standard microphone, but instead, I ended up with a fake. It’s a fr...

Great video man! What's the software you're using for your joke writing process?

King Joey taketh thine throne 👑
Observations: Joe Begley is naturally funnier than any of those garbage Kill Tony/Mothership regulars. This vlog series is incredible and deserves way more views; feels cool to get in on the ground floor because dude takes off, though. Dean Allen Stanfield is cool...instantly puts me in Beavis and Butthead mode, like he's Todd or something..."huh huh, Dean's cool."
Joe is always saying the exact same thing man, I totally get you
My major takeaway from this? Is that my go to couch to crash on in ATX is starched now that Joe has a roomie to abide by.
really gets good around 46:15
