Broken Retro 1970's Handheld Football Game. Doesn't Power On & Damaged Buttons. Can It Be Fixed?
Or maybe it is smart of you want customers to buy another one!
You need to spray the solution first, then scrub it in, the vacuum it up, for tougher material you can use a drill with a scrubbing brush on the end to agitate before vacuuming Thanks for the explanation, mine stopped spraying recently so I'll dive into it and see if it can be fixed Handy tool for auto, sofas or pet messes but shame this issue occurs on quite a few of them... Motor location is not smart as directly below tank and prone to water exposure....
I've got one of these with the same problem. I investigated and found that the motor had corroded and was unable to spin freely when it was connected to the impeller. I've yet to get around to sourcing a replacement motor but there is a further problem that there is a coupling that is moulded/glued onto the motor shaft that connects into the impeller. Getting the coupling off and onto the replacement motor might break it it!!!!
Mine worked fine like 2-3 years ago, and now after just sitting there, the PSU was all dead. Makes me think that paste on those resistors might cause corrosion or something
Sweet!!!!!!!
My old N64 had both of those exact same issues after we took it out of the basement for our kids to play. I used to be able to turn it on and off and wiggle cords around and eventually got picture and audio. Then eventually the power supply died coincidentally when I worked on the console to figure out the AV issue so I thought I did something, but it was just perfect timing. So now we both know what the issue likely is for the power issue, now to figure out the AV issue... Wish I had more to contribute, but my only clue to give is that either turning the unit on and off and/or wiggling cords eventually gets it going.
Bonjour, Le trombone vous sert à quoi je pas bien saisi l'astuce ??? Cdlt
epic!
I wanted to drop a quick line and say "Thanks". Your tip about using a paperclip on the external power jack works. I have a Lynx Model 1 I am trying to fix. It arrived DOA with no signs of life. After testing primary power components on the board, using batteries and checking anything else I could think of the Lynx refused to turn on until I did this trick. I have ordered a couple power jacks to replace the one on the Lynx 1. I used a really small screwdriver bit as I didn't have a paperclip lying around.
The other solder joint of your power connector is also cracked. Why didn't you re-flow the other solder joint?
Ah didn't see that, I will have to go back and do that joint too, cheers!
Anyone know if there was ever a part 2? I've recently acquired a N64, was great for a couple days but now no power to console, I've bought a new power supply for a "quick fix," as my OEM PSU reads 0V for all outputs, I'm assuming its those same resistors as I've tested the fuses and big cap, all work fine. I was just curious if there was a part 2, in the dreadful scenario where I get the new power supply and have the same issue with no video/audio. I can't imagine I will as like I said it was working yesterday, so I'm praying its just the PSU. Great video none the less and I'll be back watching here when I have time to check those resistors properly (I could reach the 220Ohm one without taking the isolator board off, but cannot accurately reach the 1500. Cheers.
Here is part 2, enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/z1_BAG6IWdE/v-deo.html
good look you got a working one. It happened to me, I got a polystation and put in the same eliminator that I use with my NES, the 78l05 regulator burned out. I replaced it with an l7805 from a famiclone board I had around and got the 5v flow back to the board.. but I have no video or sound, however testing the video output with the multimeter I have a voltage of 1.3-1.5 variables.... which tells me that the console is sending some signal... but I don't know why I can't see anything on the screen.. not even glitches... do you know what's going on.??? unfortunately this polystation is one of those 1chip consoles... there are only some smd caps and resistors in sight... and 2 chips... note that the 78l05 and l7805 regulators are the same only the polarity of their legs changes.. something I took into account... helpeee.
Just a quick tip, if you get a stand with an alligator clamp to hold your board, I think you/ll find the work goes much easier.

sir that mouse serial number has GAY at the end, and its called China Mouse. need I say more?
Ah never noticed that with the serial!

Thanks!
Im trying to figure out what a small diameter threaded connector is called so I can screw some regular F coax cable to the much smaller male coax connector on the bottom of my cell phone booster. does anyone know what that size of connector is called?
Maannn I never thought to use a latex glove for grip on stripped screws I’m over here thinking e z grip is the only solution
I got mine fixed at a place in Springfield, NJ.
I have a similar problem and this helps me know what’s wrong a little better. Thanks
Great to hear!
I know this wasn't meant as a tutorial but it was really helpful as I learnt that my n64 is not the issue and that my 220 ohm resistor on the power supply was faulty. Thanks.
Glad it helped
same problem with mine those 2 resisters. i used a old broken PlayStation to fix those resisters they were slightly bigger but worked lol
The washer is meant for attaching the Master System's official adapter, along with the Japan-exclusive Mega Modem.
The level of fear fo electricity makes me laugh... but im an gen-x'er who grew up taking apart more dangrous things for fun.. "can i fix it"... got a free tv by replacing a cap that blew with one out of a busted clock radio ;) good stuff and fun times... some how, im still alive and well despite a few nice shocks.. and a lack of fear or electronics exploding.. more a "damn, i gotta replace that too now" LOL (the part of the unit itself.. sometimes everyy part you replace shows anothr failed cap.. ends up being easier to recap the whole thing then just keep following the chains... a tip with this for anybody who has to do this repair, use a non-surface mount ver of this same psu component and just solder the legs to the pads... also makes replacing it easier if it fails again ;) surface mount stuff this size is a pita if you jack a hot air table.
Возможно, 11 вольт недостаточно для запуска. У меня на руках блок питания выдаёт 11,19 вольт и приставка не запускается.
The voice over reminded me walter white jr.😂
Wow, thanks. I had exactly the same error with exactly the same resistor. Thanks to you, I was able to save my power supply unit.
Interesting and helpful mate, cheers.
Surface mount soldering tip - Clean the old solder off and apply new to one side only. Then when you mount the new component and apply heat to that side it sits flat immediately, then solder the other side.
i have an n64 that has no audio or video will this fix the problem on the system i have
No
May do, give it a try, can't hurt to clean it.
PLZ clean your tip and use some flux, those joints look so dry :(
nice video, I have a question for you, would it be possible for you to measure the value of the ZD101 zener diode in the power supply?😊😊
Sorry I can't, I don't have it anymore.
Love the vids but the thumbnails make it impoissible for me to figur out which video I had watched before since the thumbnail includes a red border and the indicator how much you watched of the video is also a red line on the bottom
Ah never thought of that.
dude shouldve used a bit of tape -__- this would've been less of a pain in the ass
what do you mean what does that do
Cheers for the video - gave me an idea what to expect if I buy a faulty N64 power supply in the hope of fixing it. One trick that might help soldering small surface mount components with an iron is to have one pad tinned and the other wicked clean so you can lay the component flat, then you can move the component into place with tweezers while keeping the solder molten on your tinned pad. Once it's in place, remove the iron and hold the component steady while the solder cools. Then you just need to add solder to the other pad(s).
Great idea!
Can I please send you some of my systems? I have many Game Boys on which the start button activates again when released on certain titles (such as R-Type and Mario & Yoshi), can you please fix them? Thanks
I can try, shoot me an email at: justforparts.tony@gmail.com
2:53 The LED connector is soldered directly to the motherboard, if you had kept pulling on it you would've broken it off.
😅
Really enjoyed your video! You should maybe look into getting a "third hand", so you have something that holds parts for you, while you work on them.
Thanks for the tip!
Outstanding video. Very clear and well made. Learned a lot especially on the 64 power supply. Glad I found your channel! Looking forward to more. Better music than Vince! 😅 Perhaps a revisit in the future if you figure out something...👍
Thank you 🙏 I will definitely be revisiting this one in the future.
Button B can be jumped to pin 2 on the cpu
Awesome job on that power supply!! I really enjoyed how in-depth you went with it!! For the N64, pull the cartridge slot out and clean underneath it. They are usually filthy and it could be causing your issue. I have a n64 tear down video on my channel and under the cartridge slot was super dirty!! Here’s the link if you want to check it out ua-cam.com/video/ATdFuR6NNrI/v-deo.htmlsi=W_nyN3zIk3jKJNQY Hope you get it up and running!!🐺😁
Thank you! Appreciate the video too - I will give this a go.
Hey dude, not sure if you're aware but you can pull the main cartridge slot straight off once it's unscrewed. It's amazing how much dirt and debris builds up under there. Could be your issue. Thanks for running through the power supply issue, that was super interesting.
I had no idea, thanks for letting me know, I will be giving it a try :)
'Promosm' 👀
Hope your channel grows. Clear display, easy to listen to and slow enough pace to follow along with. Keep it up!
Thank you!
Do yourself a favor and get some Deoxit and lint-free swabs. Q-tips and vinegar are just awful to work with, not to mention probably not great for your electronics.
Thanks, will look into it!
You have va4 board, Which is the launch/first board revision for Pal region.
Thanks for the info!
Love the videos but please get a new Multimeter :D That noise is god awful
Thanks for the feedback, will do. This is my Multimeter when it beeps 😂: ua-cam.com/video/0cVlTeIATBs/v-deo.htmlsi=i5Ja72SPrvKhSasr
just4parts336 That was epic!
instead of reflowing the chips, you should first check for loose pins, not saying reflowing all the pins is bad, but IMO its best to find the fault first so it'll help in fixing others, the games are old so there is a high chance for cold solder joints
Came across your videos the other day - keep up the fantastic work!
Same
Thanks, will do!
