Wolseley WD8 Stationary Engine circa 1950 - side valve four stroke reverse rotation (from standard). This is my first engine restoration and this is its first run. Still a few jobs to do, but its a real struggle to hold the speed down, what you see here is with the speed control knob screwed (fully) out. Also, while it runs a little better on choke (its not on choke in this video) it also runs ...

Do you know how to find a spare Valve springs (Stainless Steel) to this pump? Located inside the accumulator...

Nice setup that. Nice length video as well, gives a chance to see it all properly.

Hi can you give the types of paints you used, especially the type to preserve the cast iron. Rgds Mark

I too have a Stuart Turner A type pump. It got flooded in the floods. I need a service and maybe parts. It does work but mucky. Any offers?

Most wolselys run better with the lever in the middle, this is how mine run smoother, and less misfire

You can slow it down by, taking off the valve inspection plate, and the is a screw which is the speed control,if you take it out , you can drill a hole further down the screw, when you put it back together make sure the split pin is in the right hole, by doing this you can have more control over the speed

Try a champion N21 long reach plug, mine go like a watch with those fitted. Yup, always something going wrong!!!!

Thanks very much Phil. I still can't get the Wolseley to run as smooth as yours though, I may try altering the float height. I just had a look at your latest vid, the disintegrating Landy fuel tank - bu**er , more expense eh ! Regards DC

Very nice, great work! I think those Stuart Turner pumps are far better than the Lister Domestic's you see everywhere.

Thanks, the Landy got more attention than the engine did.... never mind! I've averaged 14mpg so far which is quite good for one of them, don't drive it enough to make it a problem though. It is so much fun as you say, the reaction it gets makes it very rewarding to own! Take care, Phill.

Thanks Phil, had a look at your latest vid from Felbridge, Land Rover looks good, very much in keeping with the engines and the event, although I don't think I'd want your fuel bills as its a petrol Landy - this being offset by the fun factor of driving that big ol' wagon, keep up the good work.

That's looking very nice, always good to see quality workmanship like that. Look forward to seeing it running again. Phill.
