    A Picasso painting! That's exactly how I see people's faces. I glad to hear it's a recognised condition.

      The person may get anxiety or panic from seeing the photo, as it’s resembles the type of scary distortions they had seen and experienced

      But do they see normal faces, MORE distortion, or...? (Good question)

    You probably already know but someone did an experiment where they attatched elecrodes to the patient and when they gave them a charge the patient said the faces distorted.

    Most people are very accurate in estimating/perceiving their egocentric distance to objects/persons within a range up to 20 meters, e.g. person #1 is 4 meters away from me, person #2 is 10 meters away from me etc. But when ist comes to gauging/estimating exocentric distances (also called depth intervals or relative distance, h.e. the distance between objects/persons irrespective of the observer) there is a huge underestimation. My question is: Is this misperception of relative distance caused by the size constancy effect? I can imagine, that this effect "distorts" the relative sizes of familiar objects, which is an important depth cue to perceive relative distance.

    I was born completely blind. I have no visual memories whatsoever, not even memories of light, or any kind of site in any kind of way. Throughout my life, I was told that I see with my hands. I am also a bit of a connoisseur of cannabis. Owing to some other ailments, I use cannabis which is legal in my country. I notice that for the kind of cannabis, that sparks creative visions and so forth, the closed eye visuals cited people describe to me when I’m that when I’m using that particular kind or I’m that high, I don’t hear verbal language or sound. I am very aware of the space around me and the inner space especially. Textures and shapes often pass through my hands or sometimes I find I am examining a skyscraper as if I was on top of it with my hands. Sometimes my senses blend together, which is called synesthesia. so the emotion love might be followed by a sensation like free hands, fluffy hands petting the tar out of me. But like I say, since cannabis does affect the visual cortex, I’m guessing it’s shapes and textures that replace the structures and colours that people see when they do psychedelics or when they dream or anything like that. it doesn’t make sense to me. That language would be processed to the visual cortex since we already also have an auditory cortex. I’m just saying that the patterns and things that I see and I use that word in scare quotes, they’re tactile objects with clearly defined textures and shapes. Objects that I feel as if I am touching as in a vivid daydream. So the information that I’m aware of when I’m stoned is non-visual. It’s tactile. So I’m guessing a completely blind starved a visual information visual cortex would be used to recognize tactile shapes, and shapes and texture would be the closest thing we have to color.

    I had this Prosopometamorphopsia thing twice last week but it was when i was on the internet looking at the photos. So i didn’t care much, even though i’ve got scared a bit with the faces with one eyebrow upper than the other one and stopped looking at it. I hope it doesn’t ruin my life, i’m allready bipolar.

    Whatever stem cell therapies are being investigated for people with AMD and RP, also should be investigated for people with advanced and proliferated diabetic retinopathy, particularly if it was caused by growth hormone treatment, such as in my case, as the GH therapy was prescribed by an endocrinologist. Sorry if I sound childish, dumb retarded and/or stupid!

    What do you think of the use of sensory substitution for restoring forms of functional vision?

  • @Nathanaelelliott
    @Nathanaelelliott 2 роки тому

    I thought this was normal most my life. I experience something like this but a bit different. As an example if I were watching some talking head on tv their face is mostly "normal" but their nose may be larger and a lot of times their nose and one eye are slightly out of place as if you took a photograph of their face and cut out the nose and eye and enlarged them slightly as well as move them closer to the other eye. Closest example I've seen is a Picasso painting but not as extreme. Very similar though.
