Could AI Save my Analog Photographs from my Russian Leica? (Fed 5)
Not long ago I got some taste to do something out of ordinary and shoot some film with my Analog camera Fed 5. It is an old Russian Rangefinder that was produced in CCCP to compete with German Leicas at the time. After shooting a roll of Black & White Film Ilford Delta ISO 400. I gave my film to develop. After few weeks my prints arrived but to my disappointment something was not right at all. I started my investigation and after finding the reason why photographs ended that way, I tried to turn this failure into interesting episode about how creative AI tools inside Photoshop helped me save this pictures. If you are interested in the results watch this video.

excellent Tommy, yes try some paint!
Do you think s thin layer of acrylic paint would work?
@@TommyNordpole Use fabric paint, it's going to be a lot more flexible than acrylic... which is probably necessary for repairing a shutter.
Hi :) do you know if it is possible to add more film simulation recepies to the camera?
@@annalu963 I don’t think so, Fujifilm really guard their simulations from the newer models. But you can use something like FujiXWeekly,or search online and try to make your own simulations/recipes close to style you like and register it under C1 and C2. ✌️
Hey, what about the vback button focus possibility? Į tried to set it up on ael/afl button, but had no luck. When I press the button, the focus box on the screen goes green, but the focus stays where it was.
I need to check it out, I will give you answer as soon as I find out!
Good work!
@@abrahamyuantsur8528 Thank you! ✌️😊
Tried a new angle with the X10. Switched to C1 mode, selected spot metering , and took some night photos. Excellent. Spot metering keeps the bright lights from blowing out
Where is the option to select spot metering? I thought the x10 don’t have option to change light metering.
Hallo Tommy, when you press the AE Button on the left side of the camera you'll find the possibility to switch to spot metering, best regards Erwin
@ OMG 😀 thank you so much! I learned a new thing today! I thought that camera dont have that option! 📸😃
Hello Tommy, this is another great video about the x10 with lots of great pictures. The x10 was my first Fuji x. In 2014, I was able to trade it in mint condition from an older lady for a Canon Powershot sx240. She found operating the x10 too complicated. That was the beginning of my passion for Fuji x cameras. Shortly afterwards I was able to purchase an x-m1 cheaply, and then, when changing models, a brand new X-Pro1 for 400 euros. This was followed by two more models, an x-20 for 50 euros and an x-e2 with the 18-55 kit lens for 380 euros. I enjoy using all cameras, the x10 and the X-Pro1 still look like new. I like to use 5 Fuji lenses and a number of old manual glasses. I will never sell the x10 and the Pro. I just love them, the x10 has a perfect working macro mode. It's a very nice little camera wich I still love to use. I'm living in Germany, almost 70 years old. All the Best to you, keep on going this way
@@Rennbiker55 Thanks for sharing your Fujifilm story! I like this little camera so much that I already secured myself a copy of it in a mint condition for time when my first x10 retire. I bought also x100v but its a mix of feelings with that camera, probably gonna sell it. Every time I come back to x10 I know that it have everything that I need and even more. Some more videos with x10 definitely will be posted here from time to time. Thank you and happy shooting✌️😊📸
I also have a x100t, getting not really warm with it. I primarily use the x10 in 6 MP mode and DR 400 to get the best benefit out of the exr sensor, the x20 has already a x-trans sensor of the second generation. My very first fujis were the F11, F20, F30 and F70. Many greetings from Germany, Erwin

a lot of previous digital cameras has better colors straight out of camera.

Was lucky enough to find one in excellent condition 15 minutes down the road from me for $300. I was unaware at how cool of a toy this is! It happened to be the cheapest used Fujifilm camera I could find so I bought it unaware of the hype around it.
@@nocchie24 Great! I wish you many happy moments with it! It a camera that keeps on giving! :)
I love my Fujifilm x10 and got it for a really great price last year. Today on MPB in the US it goes for close to $6-700. So not such a cheap camera here anyway. I live in Guatemala and found one in Excellent condition for $250. I have a good collection of cameras but find that I reach for the x10 most often. I do use the EXR mode a lot and love it! Thanks for the informative video, I've learned some new things I did not know. Cheers and Blessings to you, Tommy!
Thank you so much! I also prefer my x10 than any camera on my shelf. Bought this one for around ~300$ and another one brand new for ~350$ but it was like 1-2 years ago in the beginning of this Fuji-hype. Would love to get one more so I can retire this one, and have one spare for my old days. Cheers! Happy shooting! 📸😊
Hi Fuji X10 lovers...my settings ..M4:3 ( 6Mp) .jpeg fine. Astia..color -1. sharpnes +1. highlight and shadow tint -1.. noise -2...Fn button iso setting. The lens is most sharp at F4...except a 28 mm its F2.8..and 112 its F5 ...in high contrast i use EXR Dr 1600.
@@janbroekema Nice! Thanks for sharing this! ❤️✌️
For IR I use iso 3200 and auto mode
Try infrared. Add a R72 opaque filter ( you’ll need a 49 mm adapter) put the camera on b/w mode and fire away. Stunning images. No need to “convert” camera.

If You have any questions about Fujifilm X10 You can ask it here.
@@717kiwi Good idea! This camera is really capable even in 2024! I struggle a little to use it in the night time. Whats your favourite settings for that time?
@@TommyNordpole that was kind of my question to you, whats your set up for low light/night shooting? I usually stick to aperture priority for day time, and adjust the fstop depending on the lighting scenarios. For low light I usually just stick it in program mode with iso auto1600. Any tips for low light here? Also I'm practicing back button focusing at the minute, as I tend to get sharper shots this way.
@@717kiwi If you want to photograph some city scapes you can use a small tripod of sorts. Then you can use aperture priority, and go down with ISO even to 100. Camera gonna take 5-30sec of exposure but you should end up wit nice and clean images :) Or try some of the night modes that this camera offers. To shoot handheld I have no solution for this, maybe EXR mode…
@@TommyNordpole yeah, I actually tried the exr mode before and it worked out pretty well. thanks for the reply!

Hey ! I really love your videos. I also have a x10 but mine usually struggles with the ligh and even with low iso and with fast shutter speed my captured image seems to be overexposed any tips for that?
Thank you! On a bright sunny day try in M Mode Iso 100 (not some auto iso mode), Shutter speed 1/2000 or 1/3000 and F 4 or F 5.6 or higher. But If you already did that, go to settings and Check if Your highlight tone and Shadow tone is set to 0. And If you use half automatic modes mahe sure your exposure dial (top right on the camera) is set to 0. And also If for example you use A mode the automatic shutter speed goes up only to like 1/1500. Try it and let me know what you found out :)
@@TommyNordpole tried it but the result is still persistent maybe I got a defective product.anyway thanks for taking the time to reply back .
@@eastovbar723 Unfortunatly this cameras are quite old at this moment. Try to set it to f11 or f16 and look into the lens and see if the aperture blades are closing when you take a shot. I heard some have problem with sticky aperture and stays wide open even when you close it down. Good luck! :)
@@TommyNordpole when I record video the exposure seem to be fine but when I click a pick between video shots it just overexposed the image maybe a firmware update will fix this. I'm currently in version 1.3.
Interesting viewpoint, thanks! What I dislike about the camera the most is the lack of exposure preview in full manual mode. The image preview doesn’t show your real exposure until you’ve pressed the shutter button and took the photo. This is really a missed opportunity to be a “real” camera. Even stranger because it does work in half auto modes (preselected aperture or shutter speed). Really strange decision by Fuji. Almost a bug imo.
@@ambrosiusbarbeier9516 You are right about that, It feels like a bug, it would be to good to have everything perfect in such a little gem! Still, there is more good about this camera than bad! ✌️😊
I always enjoy your x10 vids. I'm curious, I have a xiaomi 14 ultra n use it for street n art photos. it can take some great shots but I'm wondering, would the x10 produce better quality shots given it's small sensor size? the xiaomi has a 50mp 1 inch Sony sensor, & leica omicron lenses (albeit fkn tiny ones haha). is it the larger lense on the x10 makes the difference?
@@pidgeo202 Smartphones this days are probably much much better in terms of quality than the x10. I have some Iphone SE that can create similar almost the same results as the x10. But for me it was never about quality, more about the creative control, getting away from modern gear and focusing purely on photography. Your Xiaomi probably takes amazing images if you love to photograph with it do it! ✌️😊
When I bought the XT1 and a bunch of lenses, I sold my X10. I regret I did that!! I miss having a small point and shoot that can create Fuji images. Please people, keep your X10. Don't do what I did. Share it with your loved ones if you don't shoot with it anymore.
XT1 its not the worst choice, but I can understand what you feel. when I bought x100v I realised how ok I am with my x10. Never gonna sell it and I even bought a second copy in mint condition :) Thankfully this cameras are not that expensive, just hard to find! Cheers! ✌☺

@@backnunAndy Exactly they have bigger capacities and usually are newer and better holding the power 😊
