Area 27, Radical SR3 1340, official qualifying spec +20 litres extra fuel, got P1.
The gearbox was not downshifting consistently (TPS misadjustment), so I got distracted and blew braking zones in a couple of turns (T8 and T12) and braked a hair earlier in T3, T6 and T14 to be sure I get the shifting done in time. Otherwise, a fairly clean lap, good enough for the pole position start.

Tried Sebring, loved it. Had a great teacher. Still a lot to learn on this track, and I was not committing fully in high-speed corners, but I was happy that I could hang behind this fast local on Hoosiers for a bit. And yes, I see blue flags and feel the TPC-modified monster turbo on my bumper for the last couple of turns, but it was my only chance of a clean lap and I knew they would not mind....

Daily driver 911 Turbo S, OEM P Zero tires with 10K and a track day on them, modded exhaust, but you cannot hear it here (sorry for the sound). My second time at this track, but a long time since the first one. This was the first session I drove it with stability and traction control off. Stability control was too intrusive, and the car was much faster and better handling with it off.

Had two laps with low to mid 1:35s on predictive and ran into traffic once (yellow lotus lifting in T11 in front of me) and made a mistake in T9 and T1 another time. Managed 1:36.3, which is slightly slower than PB. Need to work on my consistency and patience. I'll get it next time. Porsche GT3 991.1

991.2 911 Turbo S with an upgraded exhaust. Crappy OEM P Zero tires with stock alignment were not up to the task, but the car dealt with the 110F heat very well otherwise. My first time at this track, so a lot of room for improvement. Loved it, despite the heat!

What a day - set a new PB of 1:36.6 on lap 3, with two passes, only to beat it on the following lap with another PB of 1:36.32. The tantalizing part is that I overshot T11 on lap 4, losing over a second (sliding time plus lower speed on the following straight). Best rolling time from T10 exit of lap 3 to the same point on lap 4 is 1:35.2 flat. So it's proven - 991.1 is a low 1:35 second car. Th...

just think, the viper you were chasing held the record for a lap at the time that was about 9 seconds faster than what you posted.
I’m probably preaching to the choir but M3 points into the turn earlier also his lines just seem less swoopy.
It seem like the the only reason this guy kept up, was do too the McLaren was so fast that the McLaren had to break a lot hard and sooner than this guy, but at the same time to guy was trying so hard to keep up that he was pushing it so hard that he was about to lose it a couple of times. Pushing the envelope cause that McLaren was totally disappearing on the straight away, go job though
Given how McLaren flies away like a spaceship on straights, and yet you're on their rear bumper in every other corner, I wouldn't call them "insanely fast". I'm sure with that level of downforce they should be able to carry high-70s mph in T6, but every lap they slow you down to ~70.

the mclaren lines are super weird and incoherent.
I think his line after mother's turn (T5) is due to avoiding the sound check. Laguna has strict noise requirements and it is likely his car is loud enough stock that he needs to put more distance between him and the soundbooth (which is on the right) to avoid getting flagged off the track
@Max - What type of external mic and mounting location are you using? I keep blowing out the mic I have with exhaust DB, and wondering what you are using. Your sound doesn't cut out at max revs and sounds great.
I do not remember and I can't really look up unfortunately. But it's a rather inexpensive lavalier microphone. I just got the one with the highest peak dB rating I could find for under $100. Another trick is that I placed the mic inside the rear bumper suspended by its wire, so the actual microphone is not touching anything. I moved the same mic set up to 991.2 RS and it clips in the RS, unfortunately.
can I ask what app and device you are using to track the data? (including throttle/brake and rev, etc.)
AIM Smartycam HD 2.1 The image quality is not great but it's fully automatic and very easy to use.

Nothing special - AIM Solo HD2.0 with one of their preset overlays. I do not like how low-fidelity the camera is compared to most current action cameras - sometimes it's even hard to see brake markers. But it beats other options in simplicity.

It's inside the rear bumper, wired through the rear wall (there is a hole) and tucked in from the above through one of the vents under the rear deck lid. It's a good position for sound but my mic is cheap so it's clipping a little (the sound is too loud for it to capture fully).

I’ve been lucky enough to drive my friend’s 2016 GT3 quite a bit on the street and track. I also own a GT3 .2 Which I primarily track. From a sound standpoint both cars sound identical. Yours is different.... not disagreeing with you when you say car is stock but car sure sounds like it has headers or a exhaust system either it sounds amazing ! Great lap times ! I’m in chalk #53 hope to see you April 5 at Laguna ti learn your fast lines !

Thanks! My Solo DL refused to work, so I can only go off the video. Looks like I got to 2:20-2:21 or so. I don't know if that's any good, but it was such a scorching day that no one would do any good times, I think. I was just happy to keep up with those two RS, given I have not been to this track before and was on absolutely no good tires (my least favorite part of the car, even regular Pilot Super Sports are way better).
Windows down mandatory??
No, you can do what you want. I tried windows up, but my AC would shut off after 4-5 laps. GT3 did not do that, but Turbo probably decided to save itself rather than me, so I ran windows down but cooled seats on, and that was cool enough. The buffeting was annoying but not nearly as bad as in my 991.1 GT3 before I installed the anti-buffeting thingys on it.
I was using my sport Chrono, but since in the novice group we were restricted by the pace car and no passing until the last session. In the last session I did 2:38 but only got 2 hot laps in, a Cayman had major mechanical problems and shut down the last session. I was driving the 991.2 C2 graphite blue.
great footage, awesome driving! looks like a ton of fun. i hope you dont mind i have some feedback i think may help (though take it with a grain of salt, im no expert): -turn 2 seems like you can get back on the power a little earlier here, when you exit the turn i feel like theres a little bit more space to track out to the right which tells me you can get on the power earlier -turn 4 i think you here you can get on the power earlier too granted you must have the car pointed in the right direction -turn 8/8a corkscrew - i think you take this a bit wide... granted i know this is a scary turn and it's done pretty much blind i think you can tighten this up and you will see a nice increase in speed as you wont track out so far to the left which will let you carry more speed through turn 9 im in socal so the drive is quite far but i cant wait to make my way up to laguna seca later this year! cheers

When Randy broke the production lap record, he pulled 2.0 G's coming off the corkscrew, in stock tires of course. That is insane. I noticed the GT3 1.4 G's coming off the cork. Was it stock tires?

Gears are calculated by AIM Smartycam - not very accurately, as you can see. 90dB sound limit.
