2024 12 - Ghosties to Timber Beach Cave and Pool
The last day of 2024 was spent adventuring with my family! Perfect! We had a picture perfect afternoon visiting the tunnel, aqua pool and cathedral cave of Ghosties and Timber Beach. They're located in Catherine Hill Bay, Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia. We started at the northern end of Moonee Beach, hiking down the new elevated walkway, then heading south past a lovely lagoon, then through to Ghosties Beach. At the southern end you'll find the tunnel. I just love the colour of the rock layers.
From this point you should only continue if the conditions are correct and safe! It can be quite the death trap otherwise. While watching this video, just imagine what it would be like with waves rolling or smashing through.
I always ensure it is a very low tide and that the sea swell is also really calm. I leave 1 hour before low tide, to ensure it's still heading out and we therefore won't be caught off guard with it coming back in.
The tunnel takes you through to a cave, and then the headland.
It's a bit of a scramble over this and you need a bit of climbing confidence. The next stage is a rock platform. There is a stunning aqua pool at low tide that's great to swim in, although watch the very slippery gap heading to this.
Timber Beach itself is tiny and stunning. There are two caves heading west over sand. The second cave looks out through arches and pillars and I call it Cathedral Cave. If shallow and calm enough, you can see another water filled cave just past (east of) the pillar.
Ensure you head back before the tide starts to come in. Stay safe!

2024 12 Serendipity - Canyoning With My Family
Переглядів 71Місяць тому
I was so chuffed to be taking the kids on such a wonderfully exciting adventure! I just loved watching them overcome their fear, ride the adrenaline high, laugh, have fun and appreciate this most stunning scenery! This was our second attempt to show them Serendipity. We had previously camped at Cathedral Reserve, but cancelled Serendipity when the rainfall was more than 50mm. We did our plan B ...
2024 Queenstown NZ Part 9 - Cycling the Kawarau Gorge

This is the cycling trail from Arrowtown to Gibbston Valley. With stunning scenery of snow capped mountains, farmland and rocky gorges, there's enough for everyone. Add to that the beautiful Arrow River, a few suspension bridges, wineries and a tavern. Such a wonderful way to spend our last day in Queenstown, South Island New Zealand. This was a more leisurely 15km ride today. The wineries we s...

A short walk around the park and then we boarded the Earnslaw Steam Boat. It was a leisurely trip across the lake in this beautiful historical boat. You can wander around and see the workings up close, including the coal shovelling. Our destination was Walter Peak Farm. An absolutely stunning manor on the lakes edge. After a fabulous feed we wandered around to the shed for a close and personal ...
2024 Queenstown NZ Part 7 - Riding The Dunstan Trail

The Dunstan Trail is an incredible new biking and hiking trail in the South Island of New Zealand. we rode 44km from Cromwell to Clyde, down the Clutha River with stunning views the entire day! The trail sticks out from the side of a cliff in parts and has 2 main hills which I show you in detail. Obviously it's sped up, as there's no way I can ride that fast. I also couldn't have done it withou...
2024 Queenstown NZ Part 6 - Shotover Jet Boating
Переглядів 62Місяць тому
An absolutely stunning snowy day. It snowed right down to Queenstown! A fun day flying at top speed through a narrow rocky gorge on the Shotover River near Queenstown. This is a little different to the Dart River Jet Boat as you have rock walls flying past your face at high speed. It is adrenaline packed, informative and with stunning scenery. Afterwards, we head back to Arrowtown to have lunch...

Absolutely stunning Hooker Valley Hike! We drove 3very scenic hours each way to Aoraki, Mount Cook, South Island New Zealand. It is dubbed the most beautiful easy walk in New Zealand and it didn't disappoint. I had been snowing, so we were glad that Lindis Pass was still open, as it ended up closing the following day. It made for a very pretty drive through the mountains, and often reminded me ...

Not to let a rainy day hold us back, we went for a beautiful little stroll around Arrowtown and the small loop hike of Arrow River. It is such a quaint little, historical gold-rush era town. It is just a short 20 minute drive north of Queenstown in New Zealand's South Island. This was followed by a delicious pub meal at Pig Malones in Queenstown, and a lovely afternoon of cards with our fire an...

This is the second half of our perfect spring day out with Dart River Adventures. After Jet boating up the river from Glenorchy, we jump into our Funyaks (pre-inflated) and cruise on back down the river. It's pretty easy and relaxing with absolutely stunning scenery. A picnic lunch is provided, and then time to explore the little canyon up the side creek. The water colour there can be bright tu...

A beautiful spring day on the Dart River, Glenorchy, South Island, New Zealand. A tour with Dart River Adventures. Jet Boat up the river, then Funyak kayaking back (next clip). The snow was lower than usual and the sun was shining. This is the fun, easy way to get up a river. A large, open valley with many 'Lord of the Rings' locations along the way. Stunning!

A wonderful, fun week in Queenstown with our friends. Full of adventure during a beautiful sunny and snowy September week. This first part shows how steep and beautiful it is to land at Queenstown Airport, our wonderful accommodation, a wander through the village and dinner at The Cow. Our kids recommended this restaurant and it was fabulous Italian with homemade garlic bread. No bookings, firs...
2024 8 Out of a Bog or Two

This is a couple of months after our Outback Trip, but some fun footage to end with. Our friends, bogged in a paddock. Their winch cable broke and they had to camp in the bog overnight. We arrived the following morning to pull them out and then got bogged ourselves having to self winch out. We then used the sand treads to make a mini bridge in the lower exit for our friends. A bit of fun for th...
2024 Outback Day 23- Mount Kaputar to Newcastle

A rainy day pack up, flooding dirt roads, kangaroos and country towns! Well that's a wrap for our 2024 Outback Australia trip. It absolutely pours overnight! It was a slow and careful descent of Mount Kaputar in the wet. I had to hop out and move some rocks off the road that had come down overnight. Next we turned south to by-pass Narrabri, along the last of our dirt driving. This was a bit of ...

Back onto tar today, but excited to hike at Mount Kaputar! We drove along the Killaroi Highway through cotton, wheat and canola fields. Through Burren Junction and Narrabri to the north side of Mount Kaputar. We did the 1.4km out and back, easy Sawn Rocks walking track to see some incredible volcanic organ pipes. Then we drove up Mount Kaputar itself. It's a steep, narrow, windy road that's hal...

Staying at the Opal Big 4 Caravan Park. We rode our bikes through opal fields to the south of Lightning Ridge. Col had more punctures. We explored Chambers of the Black Hand opal mine and sculpture tunnels. Caught up on some washing back at camp. Had a wonderful soak in the Artesian Pools across the road from the caravan park, with mineral waters of 36-40 degrees to fix our aches and pains. We ...

2024 Outback Day 6 - Silverton to Corner Country
Used to go to Moonie decades ago, Ghostie, down to Yondaio and the baby blowhole, I think it's all private property now, bought by developers like the ones who ruined Catho. Nice to see it all again, I'm to old for all that rock hopping nowadays.
Great video mate. Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!
That was great! Thanks! The last time that I was in Birdsville was in 1988. What amazes me about the Australian outback is that it’s a living desert. I went for a walk and stood on a dune, just West of town. There were animal tracks everywhere! Not a dead desert, but totally alive. I’ve just retired and will be there again, soon!
Thank you! Yes it’s such a special place. I can’t wait to return 😊
Nice Video! Keep going with the good stuff!
Thanks, will do!

You’re welcome, thanks for your kind words. I hope you get there soon
Really enjoying this trip, love the wide open spaces . Definitely on my bucket list next time I go back , thank you for taking time to share, take care,
So green! greetings from Broken Hill NSW
Very green! The view from Mundi Mundi was a bit different to 1991 when I was last there!
Pretty good, looks like you are having fun. We just sold our camper trailer due to the amount of work involved in setting up, so I do like the other vehicle with the pop-up bed, a whole lot less hassle. Gives me an idea that I might like one the same. Cheers.
@@rodneywatson7855 yes we have so many more travel options not towing. And super easy to set up. Just press a button. We made it ourselves. Added the extra axle to both give it extra support and legally carry up to 4.5 Tonnes. If you watch the next video in the series, we test it on Big Red 😊
Thank you for taking us along , watching from a much greener Ireland !
@@DarrenOkeeffe-t3q you’re welcome. Thanks for your kind comments. You probably noticed that one in our group is Irish and one Welsh. We loved showing them the Australian Outback!
look like need 4wd? if no 4wd, where is the best parking spot? how long is the walk in total? thank you for sharing as thinking to go sometimes soon.
2WD would be fine until the turn off from ZigZag track. It looks to be about 4km along the fire trail (each way) added to the hike I did. Alternatively find it on AllTrails and do the longer bush hike. It is 17.5km loop walk from Bell. It might need to be an overnighter in that case and you would need to be good at navigating as it's easy to get lost amongst the pagodas.
@@cherylparkes7908 ok thank you. we suppose to went there 2 weeks ago but its been cancelled so far as too cold. hopefully I can go there soon. zigzag track at Newnes Plateau? will make sure read more details. thank you very much
Good evening~that's perfect shots. ciao-;)

Very nice. Fantastic place. Thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍

This is incredible and must be a hard grade hike . The way you filmed it , I felt like I was with you . Thank you for this video .
Glad you enjoyed it!
excellent Cheryl, thanks for editing footage and posting ✌
My pleasure
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Cheryl, I was looking for the camp cave on the weekend and couldn't work out how to get there from the crater, I found the canyon.
walk south along the western wall of the crater, then go down what looks like a big rock slippery dip on your right (and the canyon is to your left)
This looks like a great outdoor experience. Beautiful scenery and nice filming Cheryl!
Thank you Mario!
