Yeah my last pick ups from Gamestop was rough to, word of advice if you get any discs where it looks like it went through the resurface machine to long and feels like scotch tape just return them, i had a few and one of the games Grand Theft Auto Vice City stories by the time i got to testing it was already past the return period. King Kong is an amazing game i love it - if you want good condition CIB i recommend checking out Lukie games

I picked up a copy of the silent hill collection too. I believe they printed this with an early version of the games that had some frame rate issues. Didn't really notice any issues myself when I did a playthrough

The new Switch will hopefully drive the old switch games down for a short period of 5 to 10 years. It might be the last chance to get games that run directly from the storage medium for cheap. Like 1 to 5 bucks cheap for gold no one is interested in. That's how it used to be... It happened with ps1, even though ps2 was backward compatible. Over saturation of the market is an advantage for consumers that won't exist in the future without physical games releasing for mass retail.

Alan Wake is one of my favorite games! This is a good time a year to play it too. And the cutscenes still look really good on the 360

Great pick ups here my man. Ive been on the look out for Prey, also heard great things. Looking for games at physical stores is so much more fun than just going online, feels like a treasure hunt. Im also fiending for steel books too, strange because i remember hating them when i was younger lol. Looking forward to more vids.

Having to base value on condition requires actual knowledge and would require a level of expertise GameStop can’t afford in employees. They’d need $100-$250k/yr level employees at every store. This would require much higher prices than what they charge now. Basically if you want the best you’ll have to pay for it and GameStop will never be the best. Amazon represents the best and also the real market value. The level of condition necessary to charge $20-$80 on average (real game prices,) with free returns for any reason while outselling eBay 10:1 at 2x the price shows people are willing to pay real money for games, but do want convenience & top level quality. Retro games right now are massively underpriced across the board and I suspect within 5 years the average 6th gen game on back will be in that $20-$50 range vs the $5-$15 range they are now. Amazon is already 50-100% over PriceCharting and outselling eBay by 10:1. So everything today is worth approx 2x PriceCharting I can only ever see those prices going up forever from here

If gamestop does this right that can be set the market for retro games because they have so many locations. But with there track record they might not

As a collector I just move wherever the market is. I'll go to gamestop this week, I'll move to specialized shops if that's where the games are, I'll jump over to FB market place.... whatever. A plus for Gamestop is that they do have sales and deals more often.

It’s so strange the market for these boxes nowadays is so expensive and considered rare, vintage, collectable when its not really considered vintage sue to it needs to be 40 more years pass to be considered vintage and as kids when these came out no one cared about them and they didn’t imagine these would be collectable items 😅. I’m ecstatic to know they are sought after by people now and paying good money because I still have all my NES, SNES and N64 boxes in storage and they are fairly in mint condition most of them since I had them in drawers, closet and bookshelf as a kid and didn’t touch or mishandle them as a kid. Even the manuals which I kept them inside. I have a conflicted feel on them though because now a part of me wants to keep them because I know people want and collect them, but a part of me wants them available for others who are looking for them and I can make money. During my moves I can’t believe I even considered maybe getting rid of them. But nope I kept them in storage containers along with my games. Now I have all my games in game room with the new custom game cases that are being made like “custom game cases” and “Stone Age gamer”. And my original boxes in storage and I haven’t gone to that storage in over 3 years 🫣
