Warwick Thumb 5 Neck Stability
Thought I would share my experience between the solid wenge neck stiffness from the 90s era of production compared to the mid 00s multi piece ovankol necks. They latter seems to be less stiff.

An old but gold model from Warwick Germany. If you’re in the market for a solid bass, look for a used German model from the 90s. They are excellent build quality. #warwick #bassguitar

A short talking video about the Midtown Custom. A very cool guitar, but not as much as an ES-335 has I was hoping. Much more of a Les Paul. #gibson #lespaul #es335 #review #midtown
PRS Hardware Weight Comparison Vintage Locking McCarty Tuners & Paul's Bridge

2008 vs 2020 hardware. I recently picked up so new hardware for my abused SC245. Here are the differences: Adjustable bridge with brass saddles: 3.6 oz Non-Adjustable "Paul's Bridge" with brass inserts: 1.6 oz Non-Locking Vintage style tuners: 4.6 oz Locking Vintage style tuners: 5.0 oz For my SC245, I went with the lightweight Paul's Bridge and newer McCarty style tuners!
Les Paul Tuning Stability Tips and Tricks
Переглядів 14 тис.3 роки тому
While one of the most iconic guitars of all time, Les Pauls are not known to stay in tune very well. You can alleviate your tuning woes a little bit by: 1.) Filing your nut 2.) Filing your bridge saddles 3.) Locking your strings around the tuning peg 4.) Reducing the break angles as best you can with technics like top wrapping and winding the string over the previous wind rather than under
NUX Mighty Lite BT vs NUX Mighty Air Review
Переглядів 42 тис.4 роки тому
A comparison between the volume of the two practice amps. The Mighty Air is supposed to be rated at 10 watts but is much quieter than the 4 watt Mighty Lite. I may be doing something wrong in my app settings, but after setting both amps to noon on the app, saving it and the AB you see here, there is still a big difference in volume.

Ammoon Pockamp 80 Unbox and Review against Boss Katana Mini, Blackstar Fly3 and Vox AC2
I want to use nux nap5 stagefloor acoustic with this
i have this jeff beck in vintage white yer 2000 - 2001 whit the big neck, the last year of version I, its a great guitar, i got it whit out the lace sensor, and i put a seymour duncan custom shop set, the best strat i ever had.
Hi, after nearly one year and a half using it, i just had the same problem with it, not only it does that but its sucks out some of the gain when i pick the lower strings, the higher string i dont get the noise but it sustain less do you have any advice ?
The Air is totally non-sense. I have one, it's described as "for bass and guitar". It's totally unusable with bass :D speakers are TOO small, can't manage a bass (and guitar sound is poor anyway). The only plus is that it's wireless.
Great video ! Thanks a lot ! ✌️
It'd be nice to actually hear it...
Another stupid video all talk, no playing, you can not even hear what it sounds like....where is the guitar video?? WTF!
Thanks for this. I actually have had one of these since about 2009. It was sold then as a "Midtown Manhattan" and made in KY, then they stopped production almost immediately ( for reasons unknown. ) It was then re-introduced a few years later as the Midtown Custom. I like it mainly for its smaller body, closer to the 339, but for me it does the trick for a semi-hollow sound. I think the value can only go up. It's a keeper I think ...
I have one first generation (surf green, 2001, the last year they were made) and one second generation (olympic white). I love both of them, but the first generation is my favorite.
Nice , how much ?
One of my all time favourite basses. My local guitar shop had a blue one with the fat double-J pickup that I used to go in and play far too often.
I have a 93 with Wilkinson Roller nut.... My 5 way switch gives me the inner Gold and Middle gold and in the Bridge position ( Button in ) it gives the Rear most Bridge Gold... It's the jangliest Strat I have ever owned ( 20years now)
Becarfull there is the nux mighty light. With hardly no effects. And there is a nux mighty light mk11 that has all the effects
Why are you making a smacking sound when you start a sentence? I’m at halfway and you’re at like 14 times
Mine was buzzing insanely. I changed the batteries and it was fixed..
I agree with your reason not to keep it. Many like large collections, but I only want what I’m really going to use.
I have one. Jeff preferred the wilkenson nut and I do do too. Mines not heavy. I have had it for 34 years. Lots of pickup changes, settled on the original lace neck and middle with a super distortion in the bridge. This guitar started me on my quest for early strat pluses . I now have 6. My favorite guitar overall.
I have a 92 JB in Midnight Purple that I bought new. Always loved the baseball bat neck on it.
Where did you buy it? Are there still stocks around the Internet?
Reverb. Not easy to find these days
We have one in the shop! Great guitar! 🤘
Can not hear you! Turn up your volume!
I love HW-1, I’ve 2 Teles and a Strat. It’s a pity after 2006 they put the silly fat CBS headstock on the Strats. Only for that I’d buy more Strats.
Well done. Thanks
I fixed my Les Paul Custom tuning problem by playing my reliable Stratocaster. Rock solid and stable. I got fed up. As much as I hate to sell my Les Paul Custom, that will happen in 2024. I just don't have the patience for it going out of tune. It has been on display and in it's case throughout the year. Beautiful but, frustrating. I tried all the things in these youtube videos and even installed a string butler. A bit better here and there but, still goes out with a couple of bends and some hard playing. I can't use it performing. The Stratocaster stays in tune even if I put it in the case for 3 days, comes out in tune.
I bought a new LP standard and it had tuning stability issues. I took it to a guitar store for a set up 3 times and it was never right. G and B string always going out of tune. After about 6 months, I finally sent it to Gibson and they set it up to their specs and sent it back. FIXED IT!!!! It sounds and plays so much better it's almost like a different guitar. I almost sold it but it is now my favorite to play.
Great, enjoy!@@mr.h5788
I have RG2770FV with that bridge. Hate it. 😂
Really? What don’t you like about about it? Mine always returns to pitch and feels really smooth
@@ryanleeashbaugh9390 block sticks to the stopper. So I always feel like before I can dive it sticks to the stopper on the back. The arm on mine wiggles a bit and that's annoying too. Tightening the thumbwheel around it does nothing for me. I may need to replace it. Idk.
I have one from 1998, in Surf Green. I like it a lot even if it is quite an heavy baby at around 4,2 kg 😅.
Early JBs were also available in sea foam green and purple I believe.
Mine is a 1996 Surf Green model. I found you may need a clean boost to bring the gain up to match other guitars.
Sweet guitar, I have a 93 Ultra mines differs as you mentioned with the wilkinson nut, freatboard is ebony, pickups are red dually, gold middle and blue neck. Trem setter is another difference. The dually has a 3 way switch and the 5 way position 3 is neck and bridge, in conbination with the 3 way gives you a lot of different tones. TBX is same just the last pot. It's my number one
Thank you guy, a very correct review, now everything has become clear about this combo, its pitfalls. I don’t need a drum machine and effects in a combo, but a non-switchable noise gate is evil!
I try topwrapping my Les Paul Standard 50s n yet the tailpiece ends up being tilted forward. Can’t get the tailpiece posts as low as yours. How is it possible?
That happened also to me on a stock LP Tribute I had. The problem is that there is play in the studs. The solution is either cut some washers in half and fill the gap or upgrade to something like a Fabre tailpiece and studs.
@@ryanleeashbaugh9390 I appreciate your response. So I might need to upgrade to a tailpiece which has a locking system like tonepros’ right? But tilted tailpiece basically wouldn’t mess with anything else except for the looks right? lol
Hi Ryan, How does the looper with the Mighty Amp work exactly? Can you create a loop with just the clean guitar tone or can you also add effects like distortion or delay/reverb? The looper appears to record only the clean guitar, and any adjustments made on the amplifier affect the playback sound, is that correct? So I can't record first loop with clean sound and simultaneously play solo with the distortion effect? The Mighty Air doesn't have an effects loop, so is there no way to connect it differently than through the input? I would appreciate your response as I was also considering getting such a setup but I'm not sure how the looper can work with this amp to be able to use different guitar effects. hmm 🙂
The only way to get drive over the clean playback is to use your guitar’s volume control to clean up/dirty your signal. Audio taper pots are the best for this
I bought the Mighty Air after being happy with the Might Lite, but weirdly enough the Might Air doesn't sound nearly as good as the Lite. No matter any settings or app settings. Sounds hollow or something.
As someone about to get one for practice, I appreciate your comment.
@@hyrumjensen4712 you won't regret it!
Very true, I had mighty air before and then sold it as I preferred Fly3. And later I bought Mighty lite II, I sold my Fly 3. For me, Mughty lite ii>Fly3>Mighty air. I also have to say that I also bought positive grid Spark Mini. It was same quality with Mighty lite ii with very different sound if you compare each amp models. I also sold Spark mini. I liked Mighty lite ii better.
Neck/FB is WENGE, not ovango. It's cool AF to move your hand on.
How is it compared to the Vox Mini5 Rhythm . ??
Haven’t owned that one but was considering it
Buy Mighty lite bt ii, far much better than Box rhythm. Mini 5. I owned 3 watt and 5 watt version. Nux is far far much better.
I tried to buy a Keisel guitar.. It is apparently obvious that Keisel looks at some folks as insignificant unless you have a huge band. I have emailed this organization more than once and zero response. So now, I will buy and Ibanez prestige or J custom. Either way Ibanez will be cheaper and the quality will be there if not better than a KEISEL.... Well there's my ideal of why I will send my money outside this country.
I don’t have a band at all and they took my order, no issue.
@@ryanleeashbaugh9390 it's not about a order..... it's 💯 about the technology of parts and they cannot or refuse to answer..... Fujigen tech reps. [Parent company of ibanez] have answered all of my questions and they are not even American. Sure there are videos out there concerning some questions I have and they have been answered. The only thing I can deduct is they are too busy to be bothered. I am a tone master and if questions concerning this subject matter is based solely on clean sounds and without add on pedals or amp types. It seem a comparison of this issue is needed to complete a highly technical task. I also understand wood types as well, gives off a different tones. What I was doing was comparing apples to apples. Like body type, woods, all the way down to the exact strings. Like comparing an RG prestige versus Keisel custom C series. Both spec'd out the same. Keisel can lose a huge market without this context. Ibanez [Fujigen] they understand this better than anyone. Remember fujigen built fender guitars better than fender themselves. They also built les Paul's better than Gibson a few years back. Look up an History or Coolz [dignity] .... these guitars are very sought out and it is in a les Paul style.
James all you do is call the number and talk to a sales person it's pretty basic stuff. Sounds like you are the problem.
phase III would they weigh the same?
It is just because the wireless is close to a battery. Just put it on a 9v adapter, or use a piece of cable with input jack and extend the length from wireless unit to your looper for like 20 cm.
The long horn sure looks a bit wonky, but once you put it on and experience zero headstock dive, you are not going back. I always cringe when I see the tiny straight Corvette horns. .😜
I used to think the same thing, but now the only model I would ever look for is the Fortress One. I also cringe at this little baby horns on corvettes 😂
I was thinking of refinishing one of those 70s special just like this one in Pelham blue but not changing the bridge. I decided to just get the 2019 pelham blue p-90 and leave the 70s alone for now. None of my SGs neck dive, they all have light weight tuners which is essential to not neck diving. You might need your nut cut better or new nut if your having tuning problems.
Keep posting, thx for the video, love warwicks
Kiesel guitars are awesome. I've got one and have one one the way. I'm not a fan of the Hipshot trems though :(
If I get another Tele I’m hoping it’s one of these. The two tone sunburst gives off some Richie Kotzen vibes.
Fix your sound output!
????
Les Paul, the man, was not a fan of the design. Personally, I love them.
I can confirm all you said especially about the neck profile (I share your preference - I have quite large hands). I was trying to descibe the sound of a Midtown Custom to someone who hadn't heard one but knew I had a Les Paul and a 335. He understood what I meant when I said the Midtown is 80% Les Paul "growl" and 20% 335 "Bark". There was a time a few years ago that they could be found for about £500 here in the U.K. and at that price it was easier to take a chance on one. The prices have gone up a lot recently to nearly £2k for a nice one and that money gives plenty of options though still a lot less that a 335.
Whats up with neck compared to a standard?
@@shckltnebay My comparison from personal experience is that my Midtown Custom has a slimmer neck than my Les Paul Standard. My LP has a chunky '50s type neck. The Midtown has a more modern profile. It's one of things that modern players seem to prefer slim necks or so we are told. I prefer a thicker neck but few guitars actually cause me a problem by being too thin. My Gretsch G7593 can give me cramp after 30 minutes but that's about it.
@@roypalfrey5694 Ive got someone offering to Trade with me for a LP standard which to me has too wide a neck.
Sick bass, i have a masterman 5 and it's just a workhorse/beast of a bass, i had warwick get me a new neck since the one i bought was warped, so the body is old but the neck itself was produced in 2019, same woods and all too, so i somewhat got a one of a kind since the neck is brand new
Thanks for posting your thoughts, lots of thinking from my side about all this. My personal position is that I have a limited time to play and I want to use it to play and dig the instrument(s) and possibly get better! On the other hand, it's also 100% true that different instruments evoke different feelings (and sounds), so the more the better (if you have time to play all of them...). Conclusion? sorry, I am still too far to get to a fair conclusion, and as I spent enough time on youtube, I'm gonna go to play now :-) .
The gain is different in algorithm. You can use the compressor volume in Mighty Air to get more gain and more volume. Or you can use the equalizer for get more volume for all frequences.
I get it. I’m a strataholic since 11 yrs old. I’ve had lots. I’ve delved into others, nothing else satisfied. I’m currently doing what you’ve just done and sold/selling lots of gear having picked out what I want to keep. That’s STILL 3 Strats, 2 Les Paul’s, 2 Amps and 5 pedals. Whether you’re wealthy or not, gear acquisition syndrome is a pain in the butt, and the wallet. Gear videos on yootoob don’t help. I’ve beaten it like you and I’m concentrating on battling with the Les Paul’s to play them better. Good luck 👍
I agree. They are fantastic guitars.
Wise words.
