Powerful Waves Crash against Beach Houses and Destroy Parking Lot | Raw Footage
Переглядів 261 тис.2 роки тому
On August 18th-20th a huge swell combined with high tides to create the perfect conditions to damage the Southern California Coastline. One particularly vulnerable area is Capistrano Beach where this footage was taken. Events like this are happening more frequently due to rising sea levels and coastal erosion and beachfront infrastructure is taking the hit. Link to a similar event on July 4th 2...
Beach House Wall Put to the Test A Year Later
Переглядів 39 тис.2 роки тому
Just about a year ago, a big swell combined with high tides which destroyed the wall and patio of the beach house. Since then, we have rebuilt the wall to be much sturdier and on June 22nd-25th it was put to the test by another large swell and extremely high tides. This video shows how the new wall handled this storm. Location is Dana Point, CA. Previous storm video: ua-cam.com/video/nNfsR7YKJH...

Massive Waves Destroy Beach House Wall and Patio (Raw Storm Footage)
Why do you have to type every word??????
Those huge waves are threatening to swallow those homes and if they're not already empty they will be soon as the water levels rize! These wealthy people built homes on the oceanfront while taking the view away from everyone else so they can own it and now the also own the big problems !
This is what money wasted looks like.
Where is this?
Read the description.
SOLO. JESUCRISTO QUE ES DIOS PUEDE. DECIRLE LA MAR 🌊 CALLA 😊
It just keeps coming in 😂😂 ah dah it’s the raging sea. 😂😂😂😂 too funny. I’m sorry.
Thank God they put up walls, boards and sand bags to STOP THE OCEAN. Are there any pictures or videos of "hurricane stopper paper" on roofs? We have "TORNADO-B-GONE" in the Midwest but it's not cheap and the Tin Man can't make it fast enough so some people will lose their homes unfortunately.
Ocean keep washing the beaches away
Next door dont care
And its gonna keep coming
I always get a kick watching stupid by the sea
If you build a house in the water,, ya gotta figure its gonna be wet. If you tell me each home has federal flood insurance,, I am going to be quite angry. Building anything on the beach, other than a summer home shack,,on stilts,, built with half a truck load of easily replaced materials,, and rebuilt every third or fourth year at strictly the shack owner's expense. But I see a long row of beach houses,, with mortgages, that means with insurance, with Fed flood insurance,,, my blood boils. I'm paying for that? Bunch of stupid people and I get stuck with the bill.
The houses were farther away when they were built. (No, I don't know how far.) Coastal erosion and rising sea levels have changed the distance.
@@zyxw2000 Coastal erosion has been going on for centuries. I can think of a lighthouse on Cape Cod,, has been moved back twice,, and each time hundreds of feet. There are areas of the English coast that a town or village location is now a mile out in the English Channel. That coasts erode and move inland is known. That sea level rise has accelerated this, yes, it likely has. I think my objections are with the national flood insurance,, fed operated, tax payer supported,,, that often covers these seashore multi million dollar properties. We pay for it.
@@Sailor376also I'm familiar with the lighthouse, saw it on a PBS NOVA show, and the English villages that have disappeared. I agree about the insurance.
Even if you sell one of that house for 500 dollar no one is gonna buy?
If they get slap by the wave as tall as the tsunami in Japan they would probably sleeping without waking up? My gosh!
They are the most brave people! They can sleep with that situation????? Wow!
Dumb ness still happens?
What was a house is now a house boat.
Unluckily you built there in the first place!
Beach front property is always a sitting duck for big seas, never mind storm surge and - if you live in a tectonically active zone - tsunami. Kinda like building a house on the big island of Hawaii on Kilauea's rift zone - at some point you are going to have an eruption. Just like that, at some point if you live on a beach front you can expect storm damage.
That would be a fun place to live. But I couldn’t afford the insurance. I’m 200 ft above sea level and and about 300 yards from shore. I’m guessing a tsunami can’t get me. 😆
What an idiot standing there !
Why would you build that close the mind boggles.Mother nature wins everytime.
Only idots buy homes located in roadside easmements ocenfront easements. Did you know the word "gullible" isnt listed in the dictionary?
What kind of neighbourhood is that full of imbeciles built their beach houses by the ocean where periodic high tides in action. And what kind of municipilaty aprroves them to do this stupidness?
Why do banks finance this
Is a HUGE problem if your backyard is a big @ss ocean.
So, what happened to the house if anyone knows
master of seawall building
Stupid they build basically on the beach.
I'm sure the multi-millionaire that owns it will ''just pull out a stack of 100's and it will be a- ok....
I can't feel sorry for these people
I can only imagine the amount of insurance they’re paying to live here. Incredible waste of money and materials just for the sake of a temporary oceanfront view.
What did this area look like 20 years ago?
More distance between the houses and sea, I guess. Calif coastlines are eroding badly.
Its funny that people think this is due to sea level rise. Its not. Unless 7 inches per 100 years means your house now cant make it. This is more about beach erosion. Its simply the sand moving away from the homes. This is common because the earth has no plans to stay put. When you live on the water, there are constant talks of how to stop the sand from leaving. Some areas lose all the sand unless its manually put back. Some places have no issues. Some places naturally sink, like venice is really a swamp. None of this is global sea level rise. This is why people use break waters and dredge the ocean to push sand back up in areas. Earthquakes can also cause the land to drop, and I am not sure if that is happening here in socal, but earthquakes are so common I would not be surprised. The fact that a sand coastline stays put at all is a miracle.
Where's the OFF switch for waves? Oh yeah...there isn't one! 😅
Hey, get a house a quarter mile east and 20 feet above sea level and be happy
Better in time
That's unfortunate and also very scary. Im at least glad the whole cliff didnt collapse with people. It would be tragic. Be safe.
Should FEMA be supporting these home owners?
showing more of the rich having problems and still no answers about all the people burned alive while the fire dept was protecting the rich's homes in Hawaii. I bet Pisspants Obiden makes an appearance here faster then he did in Ohio
there are times, when it's good to be poor....or at least smart enough not to build on cliffs created by landslides to begin with
I did not have to be a geologist to know the cliffs are not stable.
Absolute idiots allowing to build there, i believe in the 2 -3 rule where if the cliff is 30m high you must be 20m from the edge
Packet Change
The architects told them to trust the science.
Who would insure any of these houses?
Thank You for Your great footage/video ! What NO ONE mentions ever is that almost all of the Bluffs and Cliffs along California's Coast, North and South will continue to fall. The Main Reason is the Constant Pounding of the Surf/Waves , Constant Pounding 24 / 7 ever minute of every day. Which acts like millions of earthquakes per year, LOOSENING the sandy soil from the edges of the Bluffs/Cliffs all the way up the hillsides. eventually the soil is semi liquified like in any earthquake and gets so loose the bluff simply crumbles. Nothing can be done to prevent the soil loosening over time due to constant pounding. covering the soil really won't mitigate the soil loosening, it's not really "erosion".
Plus all the dams that curtail the replenishment of the beaches with sand.
You don't need to feel sorry for them. Your insurance payments will help subsidize their payouts.
Wow, I've never understood why people think they will beat God and nature!
