The Oar board could be mounted on a plywood board in the garage with shorter oars and used for exercise. resistance could come through either bands on the end of oars or weights. This would increase revenue for the company. When it is not used on the water it could still benefit you.

You would get more power and speed if you used your legs as well by flexing after them arms are extended. I understand that speed is not usually a factor in backing the boat, but using the legs as well would provide load on the muscles that are not used to row normally. These included the hamstrings and hip flexors in the legs, abdominals in the core, and pectorals and triceps in the upper body.
