A day out in Guernsey? Sure why not! Who doesn't enjoy a trip to the Channel Islands? A chance to fly a new airline and to experience an small boutique airline's sole jet aircraft before it was retired after 10 years of service to the people of Guernsey a few months after filming this Vlog, that sounds like a good enough reason to make an "Extreme Day Trip" out of this, plus there was a golden ...

Mmmmmm…raw vueling burger 🍔
I was not impressed by this! But I am giving Vueling a second chance this year, hope they don't blow it! 🤣
No way I got a shout out! Cheers Tyler! I think I heard that in all the wonderful on deck, welcome to the world of ferries 😂
I had to give you a shout out Steve, your Rosslare to Santander Ferry vlog gave me the idea to do this vlog! 😄 It's not our first Ferry vlog, but it's our first time putting them against something else!
I agree with you. I would do the train between Dublin and Belfast and vice-versa. I enjoy train travel over a coach. I would find it a pain with the coach doing the stops at Dublin Airport T1 and T2, especially if it is heavy traffic. The price you paid for your train ticket is very reasonable. I did Dublin to Galway return on the train and I enjoyed the experience and the ticket was good value, unlike our trains in mainland Britain where we pay a fortune if its not an advance fare. A great video, keep it up.
Thanks for the comment, it's nice to compare options for these various city to city travel methods, glad you enjoyed the Vlog, more of these types of videos are coming, plus we got a handful of others in a dedicated playlist! 😃👌
@southernairs as I'm reading your reply to my comment, I'm actually on a Scottish Citylink Coach going from Inverness to my home city of Glasgow. It is pitch dark outside and the coach got held up before Aviemore. A car collision on the A9. These are also the reasons I prefer the train but the coach is free for me within Scotland and all local buses and I can also take the bus for free to Carlisle or Berwick on Tweed if travelling on a local bus from Scottish Borders or Dumfries and Galloway like Carlisle to Dumfries bus or Edinburgh or Galashiels to Carlisle or Berwick on Tweed buses.
@@markm-1976 My thoughts exactly, train beats the traffic & most times gets you into the city centre, but the coach is so cheap and often you can get them at odd hours where as trains, not so much...
I took the bus from Dublin Airport to Belfast last year and it was absolutely packed, really hot and tbh really rather smelly. Not an experience I'll repeat if I can avoid it. The Enterprise train is a much better experience. I was back in Belfast this week and had a look around the new Central Station and was quite impressed. Massive improvement.
I quite like the new station, though its a shame to see the former train station and bus station looking like a shell of their former selves. But onwards and progress I guess, the new place is pretty nice and puts most major London hubs to shame...
Great comparison and agree with the outcome. Love the intro btw :)
Thanks Steve! Glad you enjoyed the vlog!
I believe it was the B.A 747-400 i must had been on, when i flew from LHR to LAX back in 1987., was with my mother in business class upper deck✈. Enjoyed your video tour of The Queen of the Skies👍
Glad you liked it! 1987 would have been a Boeing 747-100 or 747-200 as the 747-400 didn't enter service until 1989, that still sounds like an amazing flight experience regardless! Glad you enjoyed the vlog, we got a few 747 videos on the channel! 😄
Awesome budget airlines in Asia flight reviews there SouthernAirs🛫👍
Thank you!
nice content mate. keep going 💪🏼💪🏼
Thank you! We've already been filming vlogs for 2025! 😄😄
Be lovely to see it flying
Hopefully in our lifetime it'll grace the skies over Britain again!
This was lovely to watch, thank you for sharing the journey and showing first class😊 I'll be making that journey myself soon. It sort of felt like a pre run through 😁
Glad we could help! 😃 Hope your journey goes off well! 😄
Ive done the journey between Bournemouth and Southampton on Xcountry std class. Nothing to shout home about. I also went to the Alice Cooper gig too, but I live in Birmingham. I went st class from Birmingham to Edinburgh 1st class on 1st class Xcountry too. Again nothing to shout about. Each way they only gave us one sandwich each and a few soft drinks. This was quite disappointing given the length of the journey. Thankfully they were complimentary tickets. You can't use the Avanti lounge with 1st class tickets from xcountry. I remember emailing Avanti to ask, and they said yes, but got to the lounge and they said no. That was frustrating.
Thanks for the information! I like XCountry on the BOH-SOU route in First as they do the snacks which you don't get on SWR by comparison. The standard product seems good enough for places I can't travel to by flying.
@southernairs yeah that's fair enough. Thought I'd give you a heads up about the longer journies to manage expectations. You are lucky to get a XCountry train on time too. More often than not they're crammed to the brim and late. I use it between Birmingham and Cardiff fairly regularly.
5:37 Not sure Wen will thank you for that comment, Tyler! 😂 Looks like an interesting museum, though.
Its a nice small collection! I recommend visiting it for somewhere different! 😄
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The guy on the front desk gave you a free breakfast because he was too embarrassed to charge 6 quid for it! 😂 You do still occasionally come across Premier Inns with those holes in the desk from when they had a 21" telly bolted to them.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised 🤣😂
Great Video Man had a blast look forward to doing it again on the 25th
Let's Go Raiders! 😁
Hi guys happy new year from texas.🎊🎆💐🥳
Have a happy new year too! 😄🍻
This was a lovely watch, thank you for sharing 😊
It's a pleasure to share our adventures! Glad you enjoyed this! 😄😃
Haha brilliant :D
Glad to finally get this out!
Makes sense to avoid the crowds but it makes the place seem deserted. Good decorations though.
It sure made vlogging this a lot easier! Its not a big and fancy market like some of the ones in London or other major cities, but its a nice little one for a town like Bournemouth... Maybe I'll cover Southampton's next year?
Merry Christmas to all the SouthernAirs! !!!
Thank you Steve! Hope you & Alicja have a great Christmas & New Year!
Great trip report. I haven’t been on a Voyager since Virgin were running the West Coast line. I had an entire STD carriage to myself from Oxenholme all the way up to Edinburgh. 😊
Sounds like a solid free upgrade when you get train cabin to yourself! I quite enjoy Cross Country, Might use them for a trip in 2025!
Another beautiful trip. Finnair really is a wonderful experience from start to finish. Even the safety video is relaxing 😊
Having flown Finnair a number of times in the previous decade, they're one of my favourites and an airline I would encourage people to try if they have a chance to!
Oh this one makes me so jealous!!!
It took a long time to get a long-haul business class flight, lots of saving on the Air Miles... Couldn't pass up the chance to make a proper vlog about it as well! 😃
Terrible station even worse carrier
I had no issues on the journey's I've taken with them. Bournemouth defineatly is far from the best train station, much prefer Southampton!
@southernairs unfortunately I have had the misfortune to get stuck on The bristol to Manchester run you book seats but they never hold then due to trains dangerously overbooked and over crowded every bloody time don't even talk about the home leg unless you board at the source you o ow your standing all the way
These were developed by my uncle. The system was meant to connect more of the airport terminals, but Heathrow Airport Corporation apparently decided to get better tax or tariff benefits with buses and rail. It was also meant to be installed in Cardiff as part of the redevelopment but was cancelled after a change in the local government.
Thanks for sharing the information! Why am I not surprised they changed their minds...
Really interesting comparison, hope you enjoyed the gig (and went home a slightly more direct route!)
The gig was amazing Steve, Alice Cooper puts on a fantastic show! The trip home can be found on the Cross Country vlog from a few weeks ago! 😄
This is hall 2 ?
X c are going to start a service from Cardiff to Edinburgh from next month 7 hours on a voyager
Nice! Thanks for the information- I think I can see a new travel vlog coming up from that!
I remember these coming into service as Virgin Voyagers back when I went to Brockenhurst College. Used to sometimes hop on them between Brock and Bournemouth. That in train entertainment used to play Virgin FM!
Nice, thanks for the information on the entertainment port on the seat. It was a comfortable ride on both trips in both classes!
The intro, haha I know this feeling :) Brilliant trip report!
Thanks Steve! Challenges of being a travel vlogger, am I right?
An airline I've long wanted to try! (even though I'd struggle pronouncing the name) Brilliant stuff!
Thanks Steve, its a bit of a hassle to pronounce if you aren't familiar with it! - Tyler
@@steve-marsh I think it's pronounced a similar way to how you Scots say the name of Oor Wully but the second part is weeny.
The travel lodge do the meal and desert for 15 and breakfast for 10 so just the drink less. Comparing with a travellodge that does no hot meals seems inbalanced as most do. If you compare a travelodge and Premier in do both compare and price travellodge is often cheaper
Hopefully we'll get to cover a Travelodge with a full working restaurant/bar in the near future, see what our thoughts are on it... - Tyler
Great video 😊
Thanks Mark, get well soon!
A good day out. I've flown over there on that plane myself a few times over the years. The registration G-NSEY makes it one of the few planes you see with a private plate!
It's a shame its now retired and gone to new owners in Africa, the locals all seemed to enjoy this Embraer on the Gatwick run! - Tyler
Auntie Barb from Rochdale says Hi to Matt and Zuz. Nice to meet you. Valhalla ❤️
I live 15 mins from Lcy and walk along the other side to the gym in the summer. What were the prices.
I did mention toward the end that the BA Cityflyer flight was about £80 vs the Caledonian Sleeper at £240.
Epic trip well compiled! Tyler, how was the jet lag to and from this trip?
Jetlag was handled easily with my plan to arrive in Sydney late in the evening their time and go straight to my hotel! Thank you Steve! -Tyler
Don't know about the Jet lag but he kept forgetting time zones! He kept calling me at 5am UK time to show me hotel rooms 😂
@@matthewbanjomanwalker Whoopsie! 😆
It takes me a while but I finally got round to watching this epic smackdown! Fantastic stuff!
Thank you Steve, your recent vlogs from Denmark & Iceland have been incredible and fun to watch! - Tyler!
i remember years ago i travelled on National Express Service 596 Glenrothes to London it took 10 hours. thats when i used to go and see a friend every year in Alton Hampshire
Despite some of the long journeys, I do find National Express more cheaper and reliable than the trains for cross country adventures. - Tyler
we went to the London Transport Museum a few years ago and its was good had a go at the bve tube train simulator🙂
Its a nice museum, glad I went back to visit it as I hadn't been since I was a child! 😃
Same here
The Sleeper is definitely worth it if you take it to Fort William with a cabin with a shower. There are some good deals out there.
We'll keep our eyes peeled if another chance lifts its head out of the Loch!
I keep thinking of trying the Caledonian Sleeper but in practice it’s just too expensive compared to flying and leaving so late at night isn’t really ideal. Other vloggers I’ve watched have ended up hanging around Euston or Waverley for ages, which doesn’t appeal. Not sure why they can’t let you board earlier. Didn’t think much to that breakfast either. Glad you liked it but it didn’t look particularly appetising and far from the dining experience of any half decent hotel. For an extra quid I’d have waited til Euston and gone across the road to the Premier Inn and had breakfast there instead! It’s a shame because the idea of the sleeper train sounds great but the cost really puts me off (I’m too old to sleep in a seat!)
Its definitely worth doing at least once, I think once you've done it- then there's no real drive to go a second time. I did personally think the breakfast should come included with the suites though, paying the extra £8 was a bit of a joke.
@ perhaps the fact we talk about doing it once for the experience is the most damning indictment of the service. You should be able to see it as a genuine alternative to getting a red eye flight between London and Edinburgh but when it costs £250 and has such an inconveniently late boarding time it’s easy to see why EasyJet doesn’t consider it to off genuine competition to their product. Which is a shame because it could be so much better.
@@awild10 I don't think there's a demand for UK "red-eye" flights given the short distance and that most airports have restrictions on night flights- especially London Heathrow and London City!
@@southernairs BA used to do early flights from Gatwick to Glasgow and Edinburgh that could get you up to Scotland in enough time to be on site for 9am but they disappeared during Covid and have yet to return. Shame really because they were always busy so clearly popular. The Easyjet morning flight is a bit later so you don't get up to Scotland until about 10.
What a wonderful way to travel, should be a bucket list experience for everyone going on the Caledonian Sleeper
It was a fun experience! Very pricey, but worth ticking off if its something you are into!
