Christchurch Tram No 1 running on the Christchurch Tourist Tramway
In early 2010 Christchurch No 1 left the Ferrymead Tramway for a short period of service on the Christchurch Tourist Tramway.
It is seen here leaving Cathedral Square and running along the first part of Worcester Boulevard finishing at the bridge over the Avon River.
The tram was written off in 1948. The Tramway Historical Society rebuilt the tram and it was recommissioned in 2001.

Kitson steam tram running on the Ferrymead Tramway

The steam tram was built in Leeds, England in 1881. It was never scrapped. It is shown here hauling two trailers of c1895 vintage and is passing Stephenson tram No 1 of the Christchurch Tramway Board.
I didn't know that a steam tram existed. This is very exciting, perhaps a longer version could be posted. Thank you.
They should put this back on its original route into Sumner, as a tourist attraction!!!
Probably one of the world's most comprehensive transport museums. Electric, steam and horse trams, trolley and diesel buses, steam, diesel and electric trains- all operating - cable cars (not actually operating, but potentially so) and a lot else. Plus it is one of the few attractions around Christchurch which is back in service already after the earthquake.
I wish I would get to see it!!!
SALUTE!
