reverse trike
Переглядів 2833 місяці тому
I did a little welding this morning on somw items...just enough to give me the ability to do the backyard bounce test. Initial thoughts...nope. not good. Too much drop, too soft, no control over rebound or compression... So I closed the internal valves, they were all the way open. I tightened up the shock spring, as loose as it can be. I adjusted the push rods for the ground clearance. Sooo muc...
SU3 fuel tank roughed in.
Переглядів 1745 місяців тому
worked on the fuel tank. A bit heavy but it is the steel I had and not sure of everything. I still want to do a fiberglass version but I am actually liking this.... a lot. Welded inside and outside. ot holds a solid 5 gal and could easily squeeze another 1/2. I think I'm going ro try the factory fuel pump for the VStrom1000 before I go aftermarket. I will also be cleaning the inside, putting in...
the start of the PSHOOT3R....(modified Peel50)

I have been debating on if I should post this or or not... Mainly due to those with negative comments...like: You dont have a guard on your grinder I am aware and I almost lost a finger a few. years ago... I get it and choose not too. You set your grinder on the table while the disc is still spinning. YUP...That is my choice, I'm good with it and aware Your welds could be better and why did you...
P-Shooter 1.25"
Переглядів 50Рік тому
So I spent time this morning doing the chassis out of 1.25" square. Possibly went overboard with the top triangulation but the extra weight wont really be noticed. Not worried. Still open to thoughts and input. Also started working on an idea for a couple different swingarms so I can use a small single cyl shifter in this as well.... Pardon all the messenger dings. Talking to a few people.
the P-Shooter

My Peel50 upgrade I call P-Shooter. Some people are asking about lack of triangulation in chassis and my ideas on the body. this should help to address some of those.
Peel 50cc redo, now Peel 150cc.
Переглядів 58Рік тому
Peel 50cc redo. Peel 150cc. 4" wider and 4" longer. no door, flip top, engine moved to the back and wide stance with 12" DOT tires and wheels. chassis is not done, more triangulation needed as well as a few areas to complete. but to do thst, more steel is needed. enjoy, have a laugh. more to come.
Peel P50, an angry little guy.

My version of a Peel P50 with a GY6 conversion, slammed on air ride, 1 wa" DOTs, dual arm suspension, flip forward top and the most complex frame ever on any Peel. haahhaahahahahhaha. chassis not finalized or completed yet. just an angry little guy.

a shock tower pointed at your face. Pass.
@@bitslicesales7223 it's a short shock and even if it bottoms out it wont even hit the steering wheel.... When driving vehicles like this, certain risks have to ge acknowledged and accepted. Oh...no one said this will be the final place or design. But thanks.
Like it.

What about the progress on the other trike?
@@jasonosburn6700 still have them, still pushing to finish them as well
Is that the sound it will make cruzen down the road?
No they are Russian jet fighters try to find the this new invention to destroy it!
@@darrellstephen3085 needed something in the background besides the shop fans. Hahahhha
How well does that work side to side? Or is it like a sway bar?
@@darrellstephen3085 The thing is a RT does not have the same characteristics as a 4 wheelers. You dont get the lifts and weight changes that a 4 wheeler has. Making it unique. A triangle is one of the strongest shapes known, not the square or rectangle that can be warped in a 3D environment. This eliminates the need for a stiff swaybar (essentially the same thing as a monoshock) or really stiff shocks on each side. There are more positive reasons for this....but I am no expert. I try and make mistakes...I post them for others to learn from. As I hope I do too. If this doesn't work... I can easily go to a standard shock on each side... and I still might. But for now... here I am, trying. Check out the Sportcycle. It was successful on the track. Unfortunately the Yahoo groups has gone away loosing all the track videos and the daily driving videos.

Do both sides of the front axle only spring together? But that's not really suitable for bad roads, is it? Better for cornering stability, of course...
@@suzukilj50 I have seen this a few times. Some more complex and some simple like this. Not originally designed for everyday use or bad roads. But a RT doesn't have the same body roll as a 4 wheeler so you lose some independence from side to side but gain no body roll and improved handling....or so it says. I'm going to try it and see what happens. I can always drop back and return to conventional 2 shocks, one per side. Thanks !!!!! We shall see
@@toddwright8746 This is probably always a compromise between cornering stability and suspension comfort. My Hudson was so low with the original shock absorbers from the previous owner that they were at the end stop and the suspension travel was only the rubber stops. It drove well on smooth roads in curves. However, on potholes, bumps or steps you would be shaken around violently and you would get blows all the way to your back. That was rubbish. The suspension stayed that low, but I now have rebound shock absorbers and the strongest stabilizer that was available on the R5....and shock absorbers that I can now adjust. Only in combination with compression and rebound, but at least...
@@suzukilj50 riding the bumpstops is no fun.... at least here I will have the shock engagement. I can see that I may have too step back and give more thought. But this has been done before and i have been wanting to try.... now is the chance.... Thanks
Looking good!

Do you model your projects before you build them? Just curious. Because I noticed there are guys who can just build on the fly. Cool build, btw.
First.... thank you. Now I do both. I build on the fly and design in 3D. BUT.... I have found that 3D in the model doesnt always work in real life. So if I model it... I will usually sit in a position with wood propped up....document a few key things and put those limitations into 3D. And work around them... then play in the real world with it. So I can do both and I use both together to get my desired results. Thanks again
Your making your own T-Rex love those reverse trikes
If I may... not a TRex. I am not a fan of them happy for what they have done to keep RTs alive but not a fan. The old Morgans and some others I love. RTs are kinda my thing.. Thank you!!!!!!
@toddwright8746 oh okay sorry I just assumed you were modeling a TRex I never heard of the Morgans before they look interesting.
@@justinconway4913 your good. No worries. And thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.
Great work Todd!

Loving the progress.. good to see you back at it
Will you be able to interchange all three wheels, in case Milady gets a flat?
Unfortunately the offset of the rear compared to the front make them different....if I had thought about that ... Haa. Where were you when ?!?!?! Haahahahhah
Love it.
Thank you sir
Not bad at all.

Good to see you back working on the chassis in square tube
Thanks man... much appreciated. Hard to get much in with 60+ at work, the h ok use and still moving from NewMexico back to Tennessee..... Thanks
Todd, basically.... 1. Do not give a rats rear what naysayers say.!! Keep posting. 2. You do YOU. If you want to do this build in the middle of the freeway during rush hour traffic, who am I to tell you different. 3. A wire Flux core welder is great for setups. Heavy tack welds and such. But do a bend test on some tubing you are using to see if the welds crack. But always listen to #1 above. 4. When in doubt, add a gusset to an angle weld. 5. Your shop is too neat and clean, you're making mine look bad. 6. Looking forward to you posting over on the Trike forums too.
Great info... thanks. I beat a piece of square tube that was only welded along 1 side... bent it as well... it just bent. No break.... Thanks man !!!!
Hi Todd, Nice to see you back 👍you fluxcore welder seems to work pretty good.
I was shocked.... and impressed. Seems to be doo, penetration is good... love this little machine.... And thanks !!!!!!
@@toddwright8746 Where is the SU3 ? After all the work you have done on it
@@Carter0steph I have all supplies to start a composite fuel cell. That has been a huge delay for me.
To make rounded corners and such, use a condom filled with moist sand and pound into the shape you want. Then after the resin kicks off and is set, pop the condom and blow out the sand.
I've used chicken wire mesh and newspaper in 'Paper Mache' using liquid starch to form the compound corners and such. Then wax it up good and spray PVA. Easier and cheaper then Robert Q Riley's foam under glass.
I have done this before as well. The old tshirt way keeps it backed and I dont have to remove anything. Just let it all adhere. If I want later I can use spray foam to fill this piece and add a little more flotation. Haahhaahhaa...
Fancy camera or getting to see how it's done. I am going to vote see it as it happens.
Nice start. A Burgman 400 would be my pick for power over a 150cc GY6. What welder and wire diameter you using? I am using a 220 Volt Lincoln Weldpack SP-155 with a large spool of 0.023" wire and 25/75 gas.
Anything much bigger than a 150/200 would require a different front end/tires/wheels...these are good for about 40/50. But that is the design stage as well. Also as small as it is, 40/50 is going to feel like it is flying and this was not meant for highway speeds. Welding is 110v .030 gasless. All I currently have... thanks man !!!
@@toddwright8746 I have an OLD Harborfreight 110V Flux Core welder that I use for tack welding. Paid $10 for it at a thrift store 20+ years ago. Nice thing with no gas is you can weld in hard to get into areas and not have the Nossel blocking the view.
