I was in a Youth Bible Study group I was forced to attend by my foster parents and the youth pastor liked to use me as an example that God punishes women who give birth out of wedlock as a way to scare all the teens in the room into not wanting to have sex and that's why I ended in foster care and all sots of rants about how the bible says that women cannot live without men telling them what to do because women are inferior . He would go on and on with bible versus proving his point. So, don't say it's not what you believe in because it is. It's in the bible. So, all your suggesting is sugar coating your beliefs rather than just doing what that youth pastor did - clearly show why I wanted nothing to do with religion. If you want to deal with foster youth, you need to completely disavow the parts of the bible that are offensive to foster youth.

I'm a former foster youth who suffered tremendous abuse by religious foster parents. The number one thing you need to understand is that every foster youth has religious freedom to say they do not want to attend church services or to attend the church services of their choice. If a foster youth does not want to attend your church and voices that decisions, they need to be allowed to leave. If the foster parent is forcing the child to attend, then that foster parents need to be reported and no longer allowed to foster. This abuse of foster youth by religious organization needs to end. The biggest change I would make to save children for the abuse I suffered is banning any church from having anything to do with foster youth. None of you will take any responsibility for the absolute cruelty and abuse inflected by religious foster parents and organization.
