I’m glad that KCS and the union are pushing to expand rosters. 23 players is just too small and the reserve player system is obviously inadequate. I hope it doesn’t take until 2031 and CBA negotiation for that to happen. Also hearing KCS’s feelings about the “We want a team” chant and her being as anxious for expansion as we all are .. like, obviously she has these feelings as a player leader but it’s wonderful to hear her express them in such an excited and human way!

I’m also a fan of her from her PHF days and I hope Schroeder gets some more attention from the Canadian National team, but it’s going to be tough to crack that team because Maschmeyer is right there with Schroeder and Desbiens is also. Desbiens is perhaps a tick behind those two these days but she has The Resume. So we have a situation where Schroeder may be the best goalie in the world but can’t even get starts on her own national team!

I don't agree that Söderberg is present tense struggling. It feels like she was cast by her original games she lost, and cannot shake that view. The save % is down for multiple top tier goalies this year, yet Söderberg's save % has gone up this year. She also does not get nearly enough games to develop a rhythm. Boston's offense does not create situations that help a goaltender (many one goal difference games, many OT games). Söderberg currently sits above an extremely competitive group including veterans Chuli, Campbell, and Hensley (who is supposed to be a 1A). Frankel's save % is .917, while Söderberg's is .912. All that said, in this league fractions of percents makes an enormous difference, especially when the team in front of you isn't a powerful offense. Right now, looking at the "backup" stats, there's only one with a higher save percent.
