    Did you have layer shifts while tuning speeds and acceleration? If so, how did you solve it?

    • @masterjansens
      @masterjansens 9 місяців тому

      If your steppers are skipping steps, it probably means you are trying to accelerate them too quickly. In my case, this printer is limited by the flow rate of the hot end, not the motors.

    Impressive! Nice flying too. I bet if you stuck some bigger motors on there it might help with the propwash and bobbles and probably be a little more punchy too. The canopy is so tall though that the pendulum effect from it might make eliminating the propwash altogether a little difficult.

    • @masterjansens
      @masterjansens Рік тому

      Good point about the weight distribution! Interestingly, with the under-slung battery, the CG is still slightly bellow the hight of the props (i.e still theoretically naturally stable when flying upright). While lower CG might mean better prop-wash performance, I wonder if having the CG closer to the props improves handling in other scenarios. I could imagine it makes the drone more responsive to flips and rolls for example.

    • @flipfpv
      @flipfpv Рік тому

      @@masterjansens Yep, that’s what I've always heard too, is that you want the CG as close to the propline as possible for the best handling. Makes sense. My friend has an Ummagawd Remix, which was specifically designed with that goal in mind, and he says he can definitely tell the difference in the handling vs his other quads. I wonder with your canopy being pretty tall if the distance of the weight from the CG would actually make it feel like there's more weight due to the leverage, especially during fast rolls/flips, etc?

    • @masterjansens
      @masterjansens Рік тому

      @@flipfpv I will keep my eyes (or fingers) out for it next time I fly! I think that because the whole top part is really light, it isn’t to bad. The canopy is mostly that big just to protect all the stuff from impact.

  • @flipfpv
    @flipfpv Рік тому

    Nice, but 6g on that scale is a massive amount of extra weight. How does it fly? I did something similar (but with the 1s version) initially, but it ended up being a pig in the air. High throttle just to get off the ground. Instead, I went back to the drawing board, ditched the external vtx and just upgraded to a grounded antenna and it did wonders. I hate the cost, but gnb27 connectors are a better alternative for weight and batteries with these already installed are quite available where I am. These mods and an alternative canopy like yours got me to .4g under original fly weight.
