love the video. as far as beefing up the xrail, Do you thing inserting a piece of maple inside of the rail would stiffen it enough.

Do you know, that the Amana v-bit costs here in my country ? 69.93 Euro's thats 75.36 Dollars In America its $27.72 I'd call that "GRIFTING" Oh and by the way the 1/8th bit is 2.7 times the American price. So thanks very much But I go to aliexpress or some other cheap brand I can buy 50 of those

Great in depth tutorial video!! I Recently purchased the Shapeoko 5 Pro 4x4 (great machine & I absolutely love it btw) & have been wondering how everyone keeps getting different colors on their signs/projects & knew nothing about vinyl & using vinyl. Truly thank you for showing this! ** Love the sign 🪧 too btw ** 👍

Does that z axis upgrade have ball screws?

  • @fordman3079

Wait, you did all that. The clamps, the shims, just to adjust 1/4 of a 64th in 12in? On a 30 in work area. What in the world are you carving out of wood? 4 1000ths? That's serious ocd man. 😂 Im no machinist, but my dad was a millwright. I have his starret indicators. But I hardly know how to use them. You only squared the Z. I use a pencil in the collect and the 3,4,5 method to square my X axis. Can you show us how to square the X with your tool and indicator? Or try to explain it here. Im looking for an easier and more reliable way to square my machine. Reading a tape is too subjective and is too prone to error. Especially measuring the corners of a work area that has no place to secure the tape end and spans over 54in. Thanks. Good content

On your comments about the Amana V bits, you made a statement that you only get one use out of the insert. Are you saying that after every V carve, you have to replace the V bit blade insert? Do they really go dull that fast or is there more to this statement? Thanks, keep up the good informational videos.

I may have Mia spoken in the inserted bits, they stay sharp for quite a while. I may have replaced them once since owning them. Great bits especially the 90deg v-bit. Thanks for watching.

MEANWHILE STAY @ feedrate!!!! and there's nothing wrong running it 70 FR IF THATS ALL YOUR hobbyist machine can do?? instead of tearing through everything!!!!I strongly say run your machine at the rate that it best moves!!? Your title states “How to” implying that anyone can do this. Well genius not everyone has a 100 thousand dollar wood cutter. So in reality you can’t hand make anything.

  • @timmorton2424

I pass a heat gun over the oramask and press it in with a credit card or roller before making my cut. Seems to provide better adhesion to the wood.

Best decision we made. You're going to love it. It's awesome using a machine that actually works like we all hoped the Xcarve would have, but just didn't. The good thing is the xcarve was a good first machine. Good luck friend!

Looks great, but why not just carve the entire thing and then paint the areas since they’re not touching edges? Also, I suggest using a hairdryer to speed up the acrylic paint drying.
