I hear nothing but good things about Arambo. Thank you for your valued opinion it certainly matches what others are saying. I have seen videos of the market there and the drum circles on the beach. It does look to have a good vibe. Thanks for watching the video it is much appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Pravin, it is much appreciated. If you had to pick one beach as the best in North Goa which would you say? I have heard beaches are wonderful in Kerala, what do you think of those. Would they be best in India? I'm keen to learn more.
@DodgersTrips Goa is victim of over tourism. It was heaven before 20 yrs. It has lost its serenity. Once an ardent fan of Goa, I have visited Goa in July this year and decided that this is going to be my last visit. If you want to see prestine beaches, you can visit neighbouring Sindhudurg district. Kunkeshwar beach is my personal favourite but going there and staying as foreigner is difficult. As far as Kerala is concerned, Varkala beach is my personal favourite, especially cliff.
I've been reading about the fall in international visitors and how Thailand and Vietnam are getting the traffic now. Seen some reports of locals who are not so keen on tourists as the impact they have is not matched by enough benefits. Thank you for those suggestions, it's always good when somebody better informed can recommend places. I will certainly take time to look those up.
Well water is not stagnant, underground water also has currents and it moves through the soil, this is not visible to the naked eye.

Great to hear your opinion. Why do you say it is the worst and which would be your top beach in North Goa? I have heard good things about Morjim and Arambol.
Wallace Hartley was born in my town Bonny Colne upon a hill , he's laid to rest in Colne cemetery.....
Thanks so much for adding this extra info. I've seen one or two YT videos showing his grave and telling the story of his funeral. I find anything to do with Titanic fascinating and when you add in that Wallace was a northerner then I always like to learn more about him. Thanks for watching the video.
2-300 rupees max for that henna tattoo..i paid the other day in calangute 2 thousand for a real tattoo that is about 5 inch sq..i am really happy with the result.in the uk it would of been more than 5 times the price
I thought maybe 400 would have been a fair price but for you to say 2-300 shows how much we were taken advntage of. I'm interested to hear about your genuine tattoo and how much you paid. Again on Calungute beach road a guy wanted 13000 INR for four grandchildrens' names which were to be only small on an arm. As soon as I challenged this he dropped to 3000 INR. I couldn't trust him so didn't bother. Its good to know you're happy with yours.

I've not heard of Ashvem I will have to look it up. I have heard some good things about Arambol & Morjim. I'm also looking forward to South Goa.

First day at the beach. I think a lesson was learned. I think maybe 400 INR tops would have been fair price.

Hi James, Yes this is my first visit to Goa. Second time to India. The intention was to spend time in noth north & south Goa. Do you know Goa well and have you been to Candolim yourself. I didn't really know too much about the place before booking the accommodations. I had seen videos of Arambol, Baga and Palolem before the trip but not much else. Its an interesting thought. Like London you either love or hate the place. I enjoy the history so I find Paris a fascinating place to visit. When you look at the nationalities that most commonly visit Paris, USA is third on the list and the rest are made up of European neighbours. Avoid Baga & Calangute lot of scam happens in that place. Worst crowd. Anjuna, vagator, morjim,arambol good place to hang around. All this place are close to Candolim.

What a brilliant bit of info that is. I don't think I've ever seen in any book. Ian Barrie has always fascinated me. I know he was a late-comer to the Firm and disappeared after doing his time but it's his silence that is intriguing compared to many of the other associates. Probably went back to Scotland and changed his name.
Baga and Calangute are best avoided.

Calangute is nearest to Candolim I know and is bigger. What are the reasons why you advise giving those places a miss?
