In 2 Kings 5:1-5; there is a story of how a maid recommended her boss (Naaman) who was leprosy to go to her prophet (Elisha) who lived in her home town.
If she was despised and wasn’t well treated, she may not be able to supply such information needed for Naaman’s miracle.
As we probably wrap us this series, having seen the benefit of being kind to people in previous podcast; The question now is this, how can we ensure to treat people right?
Of course there are people who by reason of their exposure to certain cultures , books, and teachings have been able to exhibit this.
However one spiritual principle we shared today which will help us treat people right is the ministry of intercession.
The Scriptures urges us in 1 Timothy 2:1-3 to pray for all men because this is well pleasing to the Lord.
You see when you are unselfish in your private prayers, you will be selfless in public. Interceding for others opens up your spirit to show kindness to people .
When you pray for people it has a way of destroying every selfishness in you.
When you learn to intercede for people
Around you; your boss in the office, cook, maid, gateman,, neighbors, fellow believers, landlord/landlady,
It will really open you up to treat them right; overlook their flaws and walk in love towards them.
Don’t just pay your staffs, pray for them;
Don’t just pay your cook, pray for her/him;
Don’t just pay your driver, pray for him;
Dot just be a house wife; pray for your husband & kids
Don’t just be a husband and a financial provider at home; pray for them
Don’t just be a sibling; pray for your siblings.
Life is beyond money. When God’s kingdom begins to influence all areas of your life; this is heaven on earth;
God will use your relationship networks to impact people for His glory.
When we pray for peope it sharpens our discernment to know how to offer help to those people and escape the deceptive ones
As we pray for people , God’s love will well up in our spirit and begin to manifest to others. You’ll go beyond how people are and still treat them right
Like one pastor puts it; You may not reap WHERE you sow, but you’ll definitely reap WHAT you sow.
This means, Your loving acts of kindness may not come from the same people but God will surely reward you through other ways.
If you want to kept sowing seeds of kindness and reap the rewards in future, then you must keep sowing seeds of intercession by praying for others.
