Hi there. I was there at the same time but graduated just after you started. C-4-3 Cycle 42-85. Would you mind sharing the name of the company who made the year book? I’d like to find one from my class. We graduated the day the Hurricane hit NJ 9/27/85. Thank you!
The only information is a copyright @ Leonard's Studio and Printed by Walsworth Publishing Co. , Marceline, Mo. If no leads found with info you may try to find one for sale on ebay or a military site. Good Luck!
Hey I was Charlie 2 3 Aug 85 ft dix drill Sgt shell drill Sgt kuner or kooner..great memories no stress card bull crap back then..honor to train with you!
I also graduated the day hurricane Gloria hit New Jersey! I was in 4th platoon, C-4-3
@@staceymorgensen6943 Did you get a yearbook? I have been looking and haven’t found one yet. I have a feeling the normal process was disrupted by the hurricane. I’ve seen photos from other classes before and after our time. I was really hoping to see a C-4-3 group photo.
@@BigDaadee I did get a yearbook. It's been so long ago that I don't remember exactly how I got it. I do remember spending graduation day in the barracks with wall lockers up against the windows and listening to the radio. And drill sergeant Martinez gave me my certificate and said," congratulations, you graduated basic training."
loved Germany , took it for 4 years in High school , never used it until I went there 12 years later (forgot everything at first but came back in bits and pieces) most I used was Kann Ich Noch Ein Bier Haben Bitte! 🤗🍻🍺
I moved off post and surrounded myself with the German people and culture. Ich mochte eine bier, bitte. Prost! I still sing the "Eine Prosit" song at our annual German/American Festival. I took German I & German II at an accredited college in on post but immersing myself with German friends was really helpful. Although you know what they say, "If you don't use it, you lose it."
Outstanding! almost right out of High School 1987 (I should have joined the Army) I did time at the local Airline at Cape May County Airport NJ , started cleaning aircraft to loading baggage and fueling to Mech II and was going to be sent to A&P school then they went Chapter 11😫 ----- glad you included McGruff! in your video because I went into Law Enforcement after the airport and did 20 years of that.... I Love looking at the old pics, I miss the gorgeous Ladies of the 80's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Met a few guys in Shops Platoon that joined the Army after the big airlines went under. In fact, much like yourself, my Mom worked her way from cleaning fuselages to working on flight instruments for Eastern Airlines until they went under. McGruff photo bombed the picture I was taking of my German neighbors, Herr & Frau Swatzer that came to the miltary celebration to welcome us home after from the Gulf War. Thanks for protecting the peace here at home. Glad you enjoyed the video.
@@LRH143 we were Allegheny Commuter then Eastern Express when they folded ( I have logged flight time in the Twin Otter from here to Bader Field Atlantic City with a night landing between the lit the casinos)then North Wildwood Police then Cape May County Sheriff's Department (My brother played McGruff for the events)
Thank you for sharing this! I did my basic training at Ft. Dix - 23 Aug-24 Oct 1984 / Cycle 47-84 / A-4-5 (Also, all female platoon). I was 25 when I went through (I'm now 62). Never thought to take photos then, so your photos bring back memories for me. My only regret is that I didn't stay in contact with any of the women I went through with. Life just has a way of taking over. Watching your video brought a smile to my face. Take care.
Also, I did my AIT Training in Ft Jackson, SC a year later (split entry).
I'm glad it brought a smile to your face. I too, lost contact with my basic mates. I was hoping that this video may provide a reconnection with them. Thanks for your reply.
My name is Elena Ellinwood and I was there around May -July 1984 if anyone remembers me I would like to Say hello .
I WAS THERE. 1988 to 1991. Lori its me Fred Blank 44 E. Worked in the machine shop with you.
Hi, Fred Blank. It's been a long time. You'll have to forgive me, my memory... (I won't use your name as a pun, but it crossed my mind) sucks. But I never forget a face. I think I still have some Desert Storm Dust in my brain. Yep, don't know if you recall but SPC Smith, Curtis, SPC Laws, SPC Griffith and I from shops were gifted a fee trip to Saudi for Christmas of 1990. And I mostly forgot about the ones we left in Geib. If I saw your face I'm sure my I'd remember ya.
@@LRH143 I left for Ft Story Virginia the week you left for Saudia Arabia. I was in the Shop with Glenn McCain. Thanks for the pictures it brought back some memories
Why are they not wearing helmets? They are wearing hats instead
We wore kevlar helmets during the war. The wearing of the desert boonie hats were issued a month after the war had ended for our flight home. Not everyone in the Army is infantry on the frontline. Our unit was 100 miles behind the front line repairing apache helicopters.
I was hoping to watch ur combat videos.
*i was there from March 1986 to March 1988 - 3rd platoon, D co "Dogs of War" 1st batallion "Regulars By God"/6th infantry (mechanized) - i remember the smell of manure all over Storck Barracks during the summer - at Fort Campbell with 2nd platoon, C co "Hard Core Charlie" 3rd "Battle Force"/327 infantry (AASLT) of 1st infantry brigade (AASLT) of the 101st Abn Div (AASLT)* - 11:44 pm Pacific Standard Time on Saturday, 23 January 2021
My all time favorite memories of our Starling family and the the good ole days that only a Starling could appreciate!
My first duty station, 97 to 99. Love Gieb!
Lord do I miss this place!!
Lovely video. It brings back many memories.
I remember Lori. She will not remember me though.
Great piece of nostalgia. '87-89 2-3 AVN
2-3 Avn right here!
I loved the two years I was stationed on Giebelstadt!! I was stationed there from March 1995 to March 1997 with Cco 7/158 AVN. I worked in the only dining facility on base!
i was there from 84-86 Cbtry 6/52 ada
I served there from 87-89 with HHB 8/43 Patriot Unit.
I served from 88-91 with the Aviation Bde, it is kind of nostalgic and also sad to see what's become of the base. I think I even saw my old apart in town in video, but we worked hard, played even harder and accomplished our mission. Marne Medic!
Was there from 1988 to 1991, where my daughter was born in Wurzburg. Lived in Giebelstadt. Husband was at the Weather Station. Loved it there and many great memories of Gasthouses and Volksmarches.
1982 thru 1985. Was is 3rd Recon Co. 3rd ABC... Started in the Ghetto, old qounset (?) huts by old bowling alley. Then we were moved to HQ building in summer '83. Remember the town very well. Also loved Ochsenfurt and Wuerzburg. I go back to what was East Germany every year. And yet have only returned to Wuerzburg twice since 87...
Wow, what memories. Long time since I thought about everyone who was there; T. Smith, Jacobs, Carothers, D. Smith, Plate, Lynch and Vigeon. Thanks for posting.
Lori, don't know if you remember me or not (D. Kopp), we got to Gieb about the same time, might have been in Eustis the same time too. When did you go back through Gieb?
The airbase is still active, as a private airfield now. The barracks are piece by piece sold to private commerce, so the base is alive again. The roads have been cleaned and the whole place is coming back to life, but different. But the best times have been from 2007 to 2009, when the US-Army has left, the whole place was closed down, except for the Glider Club, which was running flight operations for 3 years.
Jeez! The dump must have really improved after I left winter of 1975! It was an incredibly depressing place! Guard duty with no ammo except for CV Park, guard duty, piss tests, guard duty, piss tests, guard duty...did I mention we had to go to work in the morning after guard duty? The place sucked the wad! Of course I was spoiled coming to Gieb straight from the 14th Aviation Battalion at Fort Sill Oklahoma where there was no guard duty nor piss tests. Anybody wanna chat about either? I was in C Battery and worked in the hanger generator shop (52B20) in 1975. daviddaveinternational@gmail.com
The guard duty started after some crispies decided to burn a track unit. That and as a response to the killing of the athletes from Israel at the Olympics... Super numerate, I should know 72-73-74.
@frank kras I was there also at that time B battery Vulcan, Delta Dawn...Boo boo; what did you do there and what barracks?
I was there 1975 and a 52B20 generator mechanic in the hanger. I was C Battery in the "Ghetto" then moved to HHC where my CO, Captain Richard D. Allen busted me for two Article 15's, supposedly from shit while in C Battery. Went from E-3 to E-none. I was innocent but didn't fight the charges. Went to JAG where a captain lawyer told me to just sign the damn things otherwise I might have ended up making gravel out of boulders at Leavenworth. I still managed an Honorable Discharge with full benefits. Got booted out with only 5 months to go of my 3 years. Dale King wasn't so lucky. daviddaveinternational@gmail.com
It has grown a little since the base was closed down. It is still a quiet and pretty city. I was stationed their in early 80s with the Echo company support battalion. We later moved to Kitzigen.
Proud to have American Warriors like yourself. I served USMC aviation 77-81. I also built over 350 AH-64A's 85-89. Thank You.
I was there B-1-3 Left in 1981
Thanks for your service ... you have my admiration and best wishes. God Be With You!
@philfailla1 yeah, thank god for the vig. his sense of humor made life in the army a lot of fun.
