Search and rescue organization in Vancouver, BC.
The Adam Project
We would like to introduce you to our friend and fellow North Shore Rescue team member, Adam, a 7-year-old boy from Ireland.
Adam LOVES firefighters and police officers, and Adam's uncle, a member of the fire brigade in Ireland, has spent the past few months reaching out worldwide to fire, police and rescue teams.
Why has Adam’s uncle been doing this? He’s been asking first responders to show Adam support, as Adam, a sweet little boy, has terminal cancer.
North Shore Rescue obviously wanted to respond to this call for support and provide Adam with a really unique experience, to be part of the NSR team as the team goes out on a rescue call.
Watch the video Mike Danks, NSR Team Leader, and Peg Leg Films have put together for Adam.
We hope this video helps create global awareness of the impact cancer is having on lives young and old. We also hope that after watching this video, you’ll support Mike Danks, who along with other North Shore first responders, is raising money locally for Cops for Cancer. They’ve set an ambitious goal of raising over $50K, and they need our help.
You can make a donation by following this link: support.cancer.ca/site/TR/CopsforCancer/COPS_NW_odd_?team_id=488231&pg=team&fr_id=28330
We also know Adam would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below, and we will make sure he gets your well wishes.
Thank you!

In the video you can see the two metal drain pipes that the cache is made from - they are on metal frames and are normally 15 feet off the ground. There is a lot of snow up there right now.

Swift Water Awareness Training GoPro Hero4 Time Lapse
For the curious here: This video shows the rescue of my uncle. He used to climb the Grouse Grind, rain or shine every day before work. In 2009 he had a major industrial accident that left him with anoxic brain injuries. He only survied 23 hours with 13 broken ribs, both lungs collapsed and punctured because he was in "Olympic level cardiovascular health". One of the driving goals of his recovery was to go back to Grouse and fo the grind again. Well he did. His times went from under an hour before to under 3 hours after, but he got back to the Grind. At this point, in 2015, he had been doing the Grind again solo for over a year (with the blessing of his physiotherapist) despite not having any vestibular balance. He would fall over if he closed his eyes, and so he used hiking poles to feel the ground and stay vertical. On this particular day he unfortunately tripped and fell. It was at a point where they had 'guard' ropes to keep people on the path. Well he fell over it anyway and tumbled nearly 200' down the almost vertical embankment. Fortunately people saw him go over and there were off duty Firemen close by.... And the result was this video. In the end he earned 2-3 broken ribs and a broken back. If you are ever breaking your back, try to do it where he did... Right below where the spinal cord exits. It's a real pain in the @$$ but you get to walk away and tell the story with a bit of a smile. He just passed here 8 years after this video was taken. He was able to live on to go peacefully and more naturally because of the selfless service that North Shore Search and Rescue members give our community. Thanks again @NSR
You can see there snow on Lynn peak from the road lol. I did it at the beginning of October 2 years ago and it was cold at the top. You need to be prepared.
I have no idea how I found this, but good heli stuff
Totally prepared hiker. For the summer.
Now this is something special: kudos NSR!
Thanks for being so amazing.
Wow. This was so special. Thanks Mike and North Shore Rescue for doing this. What a great idea!
well done!!!
I have no idea how this didn't pass 1M views. Great composure by the pilot
I wonder ...this guy must be carrying a locating device? No way to see thru the thick trees.
Wow. Goosebumps just watching. Great job.
🙏🙏
Unbelievable work guys!
Is this between unnecessary peaks?
Wow!
Amazing we here strongly support more funding for this and other rescue teams People can email or write the Feds and tell them you support more resources for SAR
Why is he only wearing a short and t shirt?
So sorry for your loss. A brother in SAR.. RIP
what helikopter is that
AS350
Great job boys. How people end up in these positions blows my mind. Hanes is a tough route, why they don't stay on trail is beyond me.
very frustrating. trip plan? 10 essentials? thx to all the SAR volunteers.
your comment is confusing..."very frustrating. trip plan?" what do you mean?
We saw the helicopter as we made our way to Crown from Hanes Valley. Then on the way back down from Crown, two members of our group accidentally made the same mistake this hiker did; however, I stopped them before they got too far off trail. It's very easy to lose the trail in that spot even with the markings.
What you all do is exceptional. Thank you!
You guys are tops!
Nice job!
Go Talon Go!!!! Good job pal, especially with the illusions. 5*
GREAT VIDEO ON MY CHANNEL CAN SEE A DOG missing person PAGING IN MONTE
Why do you have to cache gear?
nsr has many caches in the area this can save space in copter and have hard to pack and store equipt. available for quick pickup . believe it or not a couple of he caches have been robbed in the last few years I do hope who ever did it does not sleep well at night thankyou
absolutely amazing
That is impressive.
Great video, glad you guys do such a great job.
whoever put a negative = thumbs down for this video - Hmmm doest have a clue!!
NSR, I am a random person who found your channel b/c I like helicopters & rescue vids. Love your stuff, but it would be even better with some background, or narrative about what is going on! Even just a few words in the video description would help <g> Thanks!
A few words added
thank you NSSAR and all who assisted in getting my uncle back off the mountain. He is no stranger to the Grind, having done it thousands of times over the past 15 years, it is one of the things in life that he lives for and is alive because of.
was your uncle Al?
@@xplodemoto nope, it was Rick. He just passed last month, peacefully. Thanks to these fine folks he lived another 8 years and went of more natural causes.
lame title for the clip!
Thank you for all that you guys do. Your work is greatly appreciated!
So very grateful for all your hard work North Shore Rescue...
NSR was tasked to search for a missing 29 year old female hiker who had become separated from her husband while attempting to hike Coliseum Mountain. Search crews located her at 1:30am however were not able to access her location due to steep terrain. A HETS crew was called in to long line her out from her position above a 100 foot cliff in the morning.
We're they try g to get to Coles I'm via the Needles?
condolences to the family and team.
fire the batterie man
how was the lead hets? on this mission?
The attendant without the cam... Where did he get the helmet? Been looking for them in Canada for a while now.
JrSAR101 We get them from Carleton Rescue. They are great SAR helmets. carletonrescue.com/
Thanks... I deal with Carleton from time to time. I'm on Cranbrook SAR.
+North Shore Rescue are you allowed to have concealed carry in this job
No they aren't. This is Canada. Why the fuck would SAR techs carry guns?
Keep up the amazing work!
Fantastic flying, no other words for it, the pilot deserves an award for his determination to get the job done, which he did perfectly.
I learn paragliding as hobby but i want fly a helicoper as a job i am 13 years old and love it to fly.
You go for it little man! There's very good money in doing what you love...
Probably best way to get hours and experience is in the military/coast guard. Lots of skills to learn.
Nice to see the crew move towards the helicopter during the hover entrance and get away from the edge of the disk.
Amazing!!!
Amazing skill....
