Wow looks like a big project but fun I need to do that to mine I have a 84 wellcraft with a mercruiser 140 19ft are you going with the same motor or different motor
I just started kayak fishing at Cabrillo and caught a 30incher recently.. Question..where do you put your fish? Too many seals roaming around and would hate to get pulled down by one.. any tips? Great catches by the way..
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm asking because I don't have peddles. I have to paddle which can be a huge difference from peddling. just curious how far out I need to go. Any approximation like 1-3 miles or is that overkill?
GREAT WHITE OR MAKO??... If it came straight at you like a crazy bat from hell it's a Mako. If it just seemed pissed off/annoyed and appeared to want to eat you, it's a White.
From the top to the bottom Scotty Orca mounted on a Scottty mount bracket 241L mounted on yak attack mighty mounts mounted on a yak attack gear trac. If you gear the gear trac get the longest one that you can fit on your kayak
Where do you get your live bait? Or do you catch it from the kayak on a sabiki? Do you launch from cabrillo marina? Dont know much about kayak fishing. Looks cool. Thanks. Is halibut your main target in the harbor?
Nice. I figured they were nice rods to be able to handle those kinds of fish while being light. I'm the guy who spent a little time with you guys at the Redondo dock this past Saturday.
Hey Jorge, I have always enjoyed your videos man. I have FINALLY pulled the trigger on a kayak (a decent one anyway ) and wanted to get my sea legs by fishing in the harbor first. I have wanted to fish Cabrillo for a long time and wanted to know what times of year can you fish Cabrillo. Of course halibut is the preferred target. Thanks for your help.
Congrats on the purchase!! There are halibut there year round, I've landed them almost every month of the year. If/when you go make an effort to catch your own bait, you'll find greenbacks and Spanish macs both inside and just outside of the mouth near the lighthouse. you can buy bait at the bait barge but before it's typically smaller than what you'll catch on your own you may end up with a lot of bycatch. Pay close attention to the forecast and keeps your head on a swivel, the winds can get nasty and always blow away from the launch, it usually starts picking up around 11am. you'll also need to watch out for boaters and ships that go through that area, it's heavily traveled by both private boaters and overseas container ships. good luck!!
it handles very well. I've landed YT in the 20lb class, white seabass and halibut in the 40lb and the occasional black seabass on this rod. I worry more about my knots or line breaking before the rod does.
it handles well, I've landed many yellows, some white seabass and even a few black seabass on this rod. I usually worry about my knots breaking before the rod.
that's a monster catch! come back and post more videos please!
Saludos amigo. Que carnada usaste para atrapar el HALIBUT ?
Watching with interest, BigMike, Skipjack Yachts
What's up with the update any progress?
those tiny flaps xD
Happened across this nearly a decade later. Hope you are doing well my friend. Sincerely, The Big Goof Himself!
What’s your usual depth you are fishing in cabrillo?
It varies on the area that I fish. Some areas could be as shallow as 20' and others could be in the 40' - 50' depth.
So much potential. It's a shame they never made another one.
No chance on seeing the update on this project? Would love to see it,thank you..great job on getting it gutted out👍🏾
Sooo true
Sometimes they fall flat on the water and die
That background music 👹
Awesome video! If you’re still making videos, any other halibut tying setups would be appreciated!
Great place to kayak. www.paddlingcalifornia.com/Cabrillo_Beach.html Nice job on the video Jorge.
Nice halibut! Do you still kayak fish at cabrillo?
Peter Tran, I haven’t fished there in a while but I do plan on fishing there again this summer.
How is the project coming along?
visuals 1134 it’s on hold for the moment, I just sold my house so I need to wait until I find another.
Did you part this project
That's awesome!! Brave man. Can't wait to see it done and flying on the water. Cheers!
There is no way in heck, I could even think about doing that! I would like to keep seeing the progress. Good job bro.

Ernesto Herrera with the exception of some modifications that I’ll be doing to the deck the engine and out drive will remain the same.
@@jorluivil ok keep is posted on the project
Dam would be better with out porn music
Live bait??
carlos ramos yes, 99.99% of the time I’m using live bait, it’s either greenbacks, Spanish macs or live squid if it’s in the area.
Jorge Villegas thanks for your help I'm may try cabrillo this weekend
carlos ramos is you have a Sabiki rod try to make your own bait, Cabrillo holds some decent size halibut, my personal best is from cabrillo
Jorge Villegas I was hoping to buy live bait at the barge but now I may just use a sabiki rig for small mackerel
Mannn mojara
nice song
And as you see, the world is not flat 😂
Hopefully it did not die, they are rlly sensitive and could almost die from anything :V
Molas do that to clean themselves off or if it gets too cold they get sun heat

What rig did u use
Derwin Medina drop shot with a stinger hook
What rig and bait ?
Derwin Medina I don’t remember exactly, I believe it was a drop shot with either a greenback or Spanish mac
Nice catch! How many miles off shore would you say and depth of water?
Anthony I don’t recall how far offshore it was but I believe it was in 50-60feet if water

Anthony you shouldn’t have to go any further that, Santa Monica bay is huuuuge so it may take multiple trips to find fish.
Thanks. Do you launch out of Marina (Del Rey)?
Haha, the slow motion when you beat him and almost dropped your pole. Good catch man.
Are u guys hiring right now? I live in Huntington Park.
I like palomar knots too, but a 16-twist improved clinched knot with 65lb braid isn't going anywhere.
GREAT WHITE OR MAKO??... If it came straight at you like a crazy bat from hell it's a Mako. If it just seemed pissed off/annoyed and appeared to want to eat you, it's a White.
You don't fish in San Pedro any longer? No more videos?
What's the name of your kayak
Scandrian productions. It's a Hobie Pro Angler 14(PA14)
Cool , I want to buy one but I don't know much about them . This one looks Spacey . Do you wash it Everytime you take it out of the salt water?
Scandrian productions. Do you live in the US?
Yeah I live in East Los Angeles California
I was hoping to get one that isn't so easily tipped over
I went to the same place and I caught a 7 pound halibut
Welcome to the communists states of America!!!! Now what
we were waiting for a 1600 kg mola :v
What Scotty mounts are you using in this video?? Thanks
