since when do we BATTLE freighters??? i thought we were saving the freighter from pirates.. lol

My save glitched the other day and changed my freighter skin (all the slots/stats the same), annoyed with this I went out to get a new one, stumbled across a pirate dreadnought, was S class first attempt, love it more than the old one :D

I found an A Class dreadnaught with 34 storage and 20 tech slots, and it was far superior to my S class freighter.

Good advice, knock out the warp drive engines first. I immediately pull back and go top-side and knock out all the lasers cannons from back to front. After the last laser is out, I turn around to dock on the dreadnaught to collect my 6.7 million units. Then I fly out, knock out the shield generators, and blow the dreadnaught to pieces to complete the mission. Sure, they surrendered, but they are pirates and would do the same thing to me. There's no faction hit for destroying a pirate dreadnaught after they've surrendered and paid out to be set free.

Damn I wish I would've seem this 2 Days ago. I was warping for a whole day trying to get a dreadnought with no Luck. Go figure after i gave up and got a basic Freighter I finally found one. So I guess its true!

Recently started playing again. 3 hours after purchasing my freighter I triggered this event and had no idea what to do. I started attacking the ship wherever I could. Next thing I know, the ship vanished. This video was helpful. Thanks

I have a conflict scanner. Fly to red pirate systems. Seven encounters with C class dreadnaughts and I got an S class. My previous freighter was an A class “star destroyer.”

What they also do not tell you: If you already have A class capital freighter you spent beefing up to 40 cargo slots, you'll throw away around twenty cargo slots in the process, which HURTS!

Why so much big deal ?? The 3h non-stop playing was retired, now you can get a freighter in first 2 min after you log-in ! More, the game now can "give" you a dreadnought fight each 3-4 minutes, I have 3 in a row in less than 5-10 min ! ( if you jump in the right systems). Just pay attention WHERE you jump ( level 3 conflict have better chances) and Pirate controlled systems have a much higher dropping chance. The ONLY hard thing is to get an S class, but you can keep and use perfectly an A class, is almost no difference. Now, pa attention: step 1 - disable the dreadnought engines FIRST ( if not, will warp away very fast) then pop the turrets 4 in the rear, one in the front - very easy to do, ignore all bla-bla about shields, go directly to gun turrets. If you want upgrades - aside of the 6,7 millions reward - WAIT until the dreadnought will destroy the civilian ship ! For some reason, if you defeat the Pirate BEFORE he kills the fighter, you will NOT get the upgrades ! After you get the message "pirate victorious" then pop last turret, board the dreadnought and is done - you get the creds AND the upgrades.

Dang I'm tempted to watch this video but I won't - - I played NMS 4 years ago and watched all the how too videos and it ruined the game for me, by the time I quit I even had a game editor installed (still do) and I could have everything I wanted - wheres the fun in that beyond 5 minutes - so - 4 years later I'm back in game with a new survival save, some stuff I remember but most stuff I've forgotten so I'm just gonna try and figure things out on my own - it's more fun and adventurous without cheating my way through it this time, let's see how long I can hold out, I'm 50 hrs in - tried to fight a sentinel capital ship last night but had to run away with half my ships systems crippled (that was exciting) - I'll have to try again when I get a better ship with better upgrades - I wasn't sure what to do so I focused on all the smaller ships coming after me, bad idea, I'll have to figure it out through trial and error - the adventure continues

6 runs and all I found were C class ships, some worth 90 mil.

ah, as someone with a freighter who constantly warps into galaxy with a dreadnought battle, i just assumed that was just the experience, However as i didnt read any notes around the pirate update i totally did not know i could commandeer one for myself. lol. time to go dreadnought hunting. lol

This is next on my to-do list once I get my Interceptor upgraded, thanks for saving me a heap of time, because I was NOT going to bother with a regular freighter. Love how it looks, reminds me of the Leviathan in the Avengers movies (big thing Hulk took down in the first Avengers, and Antman booped in the final Endgame fight).

Bruh..... I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I've been trying to do this for week. Caught this video this morning and gave it a shot. Picked up the first freighter I saw. 1 warp later and my first dreadnaught appeared. Took me 4 reloads and I got an s-class. All of this in about 20 minutes. I can not thumbs up this video enough.

I have an S class normal dreadnought. Now I want an S class Pirate Dreadnought. 😮

I'm on my liquitidator expedition save and been hunting for Pirate Dreadnaught for hours for one until without one spawning than I gave up when I found a Capital Sentinel S-class, you can't leave that one and reload the save. Than the Pirate Dreadnaught spawn after a few hours of reloading battle I got myself an S-class. Interrestingly it seems the 5 hours window is gone any freighters battle drop every 5 jump now! Wondering if that is the new standard. Thanks for that video shame I've found it only now 🙂

Even if you don't get an s class delreadnaught you can take whatever one you get and you still get a new one for free as well.. so I'd take an a class no problem, then when i get an s class it will just replace the one you have, snd you can just copy the layout over even. But thanks for confirming what i suspected about needing a freighter first.

tbf, I spend 5 hours on a single-player Nexus mission. fairly often. -which usually ends in me having to abandon the mission due to game-breaking glitches. So if I can spend that amount of time and get a good freighter out of it, it would be time better spent.

I dislike HG for having a 3 hour and 5 jump need per play session to get a fight. Their game crashes fairly often and that restarts play session. I can see if it’s every 3 or so hours of in game play time per save sure, but they run it off play session (must be actively playing the game for 3 hours continuously to get a battle to start)

Makes sense. I mean, why would a pirate dreadnought bother attacking anything less than a freighter. They're after the cargo, and a freighter has more cargo than any smaller ships.

I don't beleve that I an dumb or inwxperenced having played now for well over 5 years, but as I already had my freighter when I got mine on my main save It never occured to me that it was nessessary so after jumping about 20 or more times and turning down many freighters I decided to search to find out the reason. It was as you said after claiming an ordinary one I got my first instance (of course it had to be a C class). I am still searching. Thank's for the video I wish that I had seen i sooner.

You need to own a freighter first before you can get a pirate dreadnought. There, save you 10 minutes.

So how you get the fight, I have a freighter and I have the scanner, iv jumped for about 5 hours now, I have 123 hours in the game, so why can’t I find the pirate ship?

Great tip !! This was the one issue I was facing when hunting for a dreadnought. Didn’t own a freighter and could never trigger the event. Once I finally picked up a normal freighter, the event finally triggered in a outlaw system
