Too close to the Channel Tunnel terminal for comfort, this picturesque church dates from the twelfth century, and displays a good plain chancel arch. The north aisle is an addition of the thirteenth or fourteenth century and from the outside its cat-slide roof and the eccentric cupola on the tower are an artist's delight. Inside there are several curiosities - a series of three aumbries behind the high altar, a sixteenth-century pulpit made from parts of the former rood screen and a hagioscope from north chapel to chancel. The underfloor heating, one of the few medieval heating systems to survive in England, is similar to the Roman hypocaust systems, although it is no longer in use. On the south wall of the nave are a set of medieval brasses removed from the floor and a good collection of marble tablets to the Brockman and Drake-Brockman families, including one signed by John Bacon the younger in 1799.

www.kentchurches.info/church.asp?p=Paddlesworth 2 A two-cell Norman church with a good high chancel arch with typical cushion capitals. The church was much restored in the nineteenth century. A small aumbry, thirteenth-century piscina and a good nineteenth-century altar add much to our enjoyment of this isolated building. A small hagioscope leads from the south-east corner of the nave into the ...

www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/st-johns-commandery/history/ The community of St John’s Commandery, also known as Swingfield Preceptory, was originally established for sisters of the order, who were devoted to prayer and nursing the sick. However, in 1180 all the English sisters were assembled into one community, at Buckland in Somerset. Swingfield then became a male establishment, tho...

kentchurches.info/church.asp?p=Swingfield This church is built in flint and rubble construction and the west tower has a remarkably wide stair turret. As one enters through the south porch one can see the remains of two mass dials made redundant by the construction of the porch itself. By the pulpit is a most unusual feature - the south-east window of the nave has had its sill cut away to provi...

kentchurches.info/church.asp?p=Acrise An atmospheric church hidden away in the undergrowth of the `big house`. The large round headed windows are seventeenth century, and are filled with dark nineteenth century glass. The extraordinary chancel arch dates from the thirteenth century, but incorporates earlier deeply cut mouldings, assembled to create a unique and atmospheric piece. The manorial p...

kentchurches.info/church.asp?p=Elham The church stands in the village square removed from the main road. The flint rubble construction and severe restoration of the exterior does not look welcoming, but the interior is most appealing with plenty of light flooding through the clerestory windows. kentchurches.info/church.asp?p=Sellindge An idiosyncratic church that gives more questions than answers. Of Norman origin, it was first enlarged in the thirteenth century by the addition of a memorable north chapel. Following this the north aisle was either added or rebuilt, and the lot remodelled about a hundred years later. This tells us when the odd half-arch at the east end of the north ais...

It is a simple two cell Norman church of flint but one which, despite Clarke’s ambitious rebuilding in the nineteenth century, has much to offer. Very nice church in an awesome looking environment. Are these churches still in use on Sundays?
I assume many of them are still used, some are on a weekly rota with churches within the parish group (edit) + Morning prayer every Wednesday.
Good job

This was to be the last long walk with my father, from along the coastline ending up at Minster Abbey. This was 60 years ago, and I am amazed at how much the area has been developed. I have a photograph of my father standing at the arched entrance. Thank you for reviving the memories.

Nice.
You're backing off just as you hit it at 7000rpms. Understandable its got 83.5kw for a 675cc and its your first time ride on it- its a street version of the F3 race engine, frame is the same also and it handles superbly. My bike has 33,000km's I have looked after it good, no dramas or issues. I did put a Shorai lithium battery in after the factory one died, its never a problem for charge now. Its only fault is the cush drive design- BDS in german do a replacement thats the best fix(the f4 superbike design). See it all on the mv forums.
Stock is snactchy as fook.
