    my issue is that my brake lights are on all the time, and when i hit the pedal they go off..but then come on again at random. Then im also suddenly getting this Stabiltrak crap at the same time and my car is shutting down. Im told Stabilitrak may kick off since the car thinks im on the brakes all the time and this will also affect cruise control but i dont have any codes other than a bad CAT and ive had that for a year. Im gonna go swap it soon and hope it helps

    @0:54, you said the system pulls air from the intake air hose into bank2 engine valve cover, I thought it was the other way around. The blowback air is coming from bank2 valve cover to the intake hose that get pull back through the throttle body and that is why oil is accumulate in the intake hose between the throttle body and the mass airflow sensor. So at idle, if I am correct, air is suck in from the intake hose through the bank2 PCV valve, but when the car is accelerating, oil is getting blown back to the intake hose. I thought that hose was only for blow back air/oil that connect to bnk2 to the intake hose.

    Hey, On my traverse, the OCC (oil cat can) is attached to the PCV valve hose coming from the engine bank2 to the air intake hose(A LOT OF OIL IS COMING FROM THAT HOSE INTO THE INTAKE HOSE, AND THEN SUCK BACK INTO THE ENGINE MESSING UP THE THROTTLE BODY) So. I will need a second OCC to connect to the breeder hose bank1 side to the top of the manifold, yes?

    I don't think that you should have blocked the air flow to the throttle body intake boot by installing the smaller one backwards. Even if a little oil gets blown that way, the catch can will catch the oil and keep it out of the boot.

      His installation of the second catch-can is spot on. His interpetation of the system is correct. I have done the same setup, I do slowly catch oil in the clean air side.

  • @johnlove5310

    Did u ever noticed back flow from top of intake to your catch can. I have mine set up just as u. Took out catch can and noticed out to intake was wet in tube. Put another one in between the catch can and intake and got oil in it. But now the tube between both catch cans is dry. So which I'm thinking 🤔 is I'm getting oil back from intake headed back to bank 1 valve cover. So is this when higher throttle and what would happen if we put check valve there to keep from flowing back? Thank u.

    • @Pooks838
      @Pooks838 3 роки тому

      No, what I think is actually happening is the gases that are flowing inside the tube are cooling off quickly, and therefore condensing in liquid form. I have gotten much more accumulation inside my catch can during these winter months then during the summer. The steel wool that is inside the catch can helps condense the gases and extract the vaporized oil before it passes into the intake. Amazing, because I'm emptying the damn thing once every two weeks now LOL. It seems to be mostly water vapor but there is a little bit of oil mixed in with it. Hey, better that then be all over the valves! Oh, and by the way, I replaced the little catch can with the same large black one on the left. The small one broke.

    • @johnlove5310
      @johnlove5310 3 роки тому

      @@Pooks838 I Yes I was told it's condensation caused in the winter months. U mentioned at full to throttle it goes back words threw the system. Is it possible it's going backwards threw there also that's why they have the orfic tube. I thinking of putting a one way valve but don't now if it will affect motor.

    • @Pooks838
      @Pooks838 3 роки тому

      @@johnlove5310 I tried the one-way valve thing but took it off immediately. I noticed oil seeping out from the valve cover gaskets and around the spark plug holes (ignition coils) after installation. What was happening it was over pressurizing the system at high rpm and leaking out. I got rid of that thing ASAP before it damaged the seals! Bad idea haha. The pressure is relieved like I said by pushing back up into the intake. This flow is condensed in the catch can before the intake as described in the video.

    Hi do you recomend drill hols in PCV Valve Breather or just install new PCV Valve Breather?

    • @Pooks838
      @Pooks838 3 роки тому

      Hey thanks for the question. This is not a PCV valve, it is a metering device. The holes are precisely drilled to allow a certain amount of vacuum to pass under specific conditions. Yes, it does clog, but a simple blast with brake cleaner will clean it out. It should be good for several thousand miles after that. I strongly advise against drilling this device.

    I have a CTS where the engine is not transverse. The PCV port is on Bank 1 going to the center of the intake, (past the throttle body). On Bank 2, there is just a hole in the valve cover connecting to the air duct before the throttle body. I have installed 2 of the same black catch cans, one for each side. Are you saying that the one on Bank 1 should be plumbed in reverse? OUT to the valve cover port, IN to the air duct? Thank you for the information.

  • @brucebalfour8042
    @brucebalfour8042 3 роки тому

    Please clarify as my understanding is that bank 1 on the back side of motor vents crap directly into the top of intake manifold...BAD as this is the dirtiest side and the front bank empties directly in front of the throttle body. You are suggesting that air is drawn and runs to your 1st catch can . NO CLEAN AIR is used in the pvc system. The second can is redundant in my understanding of the system. Flow is one way from crankcase back to intakes. Positive pressure is created by blow-by in the cylinders and is then routed and vented back in to the engine intake and is the reason that the intake valves on direct injection engines become crusted and destroyed. I am planning on combining both banks into single line in on catch can and out side back to front on throttle body.

    • @Pooks838
      @Pooks838 3 роки тому

      Thanks for commenting. When idling, intake vacuum is high. In this throttle condition, the primary flow of gasses is from front to back. Blowby gasses along with clean (metered) air is drawn before the throttle body (and after the MAF sensor), through the front valve cover, through the crankcase, and out the back and up to the intake. Yes, dirty air flows directly into the intake manifold during this running condition. This is why I inserted the black catch can on that line. Remember, vacuum is higher after the throttle plate than before. That is why the hose on the front valve cover is connected before the throttle body. Gasses will flow in the direction I describe because of this. Under heavy acceleration, the pressure in the crankcase overwhelms the vacuum capacity of the intake. Gasses still flow somewhat from the rear of the motor into the intake but they also start to REVERSE flow to front valve cover to before the throttle body. This is why you have oil spray all over your throttle body. Hence the reason of the little catch can that I installed on the front valve cover. You can prove this method of operation because if you pull the vacuum line off your throttle body while the engine is idling you will feel suction going into the valve cover from the front of the engine.

    • @bretthaas164
      @bretthaas164 2 місяці тому

      Agreed- NO ‘CLEAN’ AIR enters the PCV system. If it is entering there is a vacuum leak, which the MAF is *not* metering/measuring- bad! I like your point of a single return to and in front of throttle body, easier flex piping. Thanks for the tip!
