Surfprep electric sander stops running
Переглядів 912 роки тому
Just purchased this Surfprep sander new and have not been able to use it. when it runs it works really well. It will only operate for a minute or two before it stalls. I am applying just enough force to guide the sander. The vacuum attached is turned down to the lowest suction. It does this without being connected to the vacuum.

Yeah a few negatives here first of all if you don't want to scour your pan with something that will scratch the hell out of it then that's not advisable plus an industrial chemical cleaner could have a reaction with the aluminum which could be harmful and as another person here said not food grade so cannot recommend this video.

the dark stains on bare aluminum pots are not food residues, they are spots of aluminum oxide and are totally harmless. the oxide actually becomes a protective later, hard anodizing is just a process of accelerating the oxide layer buildup. if you keep scrubbing the pot back to bare aluminum you probably will start ingesting more aluminum in your diet...

Thanks ffor the idea. I used the same method but with PURPLE POWER degreaser. Brillo steel and some elbow grease. Like new again. Just remember to rinse out with soap and water to flush out any contaminants.

Apparently the active ingredient is lye. I find that with the help of the sharp side of a sponge it cleans quickly enough that items don't lose their shine. Later scrub with soap to polish it up and get the smell of detergent out. Silumin items polish well with a kitchen sponge, white aluminum not so much. I heard they restore decorative auto parts with dish soap.

OMG! Steel wool? Why? Stain doesn't hurt you and yes it looks bad but there is another way to clean it. Every time you hit it with the steel wool you make tiny scratches and in turn will attract more stain and it's a vicious cycle. Wear and tear of the metal will be accelerated. Try soap and venigar and don't make it too shiny it's just unnecessary but that's your call it's your cookware and you can do whatever you want.

NEVER, EVER use steel wool on an aluminum pot. Fragments of the steel will get stuck in the pores of the aluminum and begin to rust. Same goes with stainless steel.

Cleaning pans to Sisters of Mercy, brilliant. Anyway, back on topic I've been scouring (har har) videos on pot cleaning methods and recently got a nice shiny result on a huge aluminium stock pot using a super fine grit sponge pad and something called "Bar Keepers Friend" - stock pots take a lot of abuse after leaving them on the stove for several hours at a time. I start with medium fine grit (around 600) to get rid of the heat stains then super fine (around 2000+) to polish. My arm was fucked though and it took half a day. I think I need one of those round sanding attachments for the drill thinking about it.

Might be a bit late now but you could try boiling in a pan with water, baking soda and some vinegar. Then clean off and use pink stuff and a nylon scourer. Be prepared to put some work in. You can use a metal scourer if you're not too concerned about the finish, it'll come right off.

Yes, this is how my pressure canner looks, and I want to render some lard in it. Maybe the stained kettle would make the lard discolored too, and I like it to be snowy white. I think I'll try vinegar or citric acid, which I happen to have. I also have lemon juice, but that's more expensive. Maybe the citric acid would be expensive too, but I rarely use it for anything except to acidify tomatoes or salsa. I'll try the vinegar first.
