In the past, tenors sang Mozart's music with full-bodied voices. It is truly exciting to hear how his compositions sounded when performed by well-developed voices. Let’s listen to some demonstrations of how tenors executed intricate coloratura passages in full voice, maintaining a strong sense of legato. Good coloratura singing involves agility, flexibility, and precision in executing rapid not...

Ghena Dimitrova astounds listeners with the depth and richness of her low notes🔥🎶

Ghena Dimitrova astounds listeners with the depth and richness of her low notes (at almost 60 years old). Ironically, today this kind of singing might be considered vulgar and ugly. One major factor contributing to the decline of great operatic singing is the changing landscape of musical education. Without passionate teachers who provide proper training and guidance, aspiring opera singers may...

Acting is necessary for singers in the first place because having a total understanding of what their piece means and acting consequently helps them to find the perfect way to deliver the singing.

Speaking of the greats in the past, some voices are perfect but just don't move me. Some singers may have faults but they give me emotion being great actors and giving great interpretations. Today I feel that the level is quite low, regarding both tecnics and acting.

Joan Sutherland was not the worlds greatest actress, but she never failed to thrill. Teresa Stratas, though not at that level vocally, is a great actress who has never failed to move me to tears. I'm incredibly grateful to have experienced both artists. To have a Callas or a Corelli (who have both amazing acting and singing techniques) is a rare phenomena that gives all artists something to strive for.

I’ve always thought that the best singers are the best actors. Without the voice being lined up, the motions they do onstage don’t really matter. It doesn’t convey the meaning unless the voice is right first. Then once the voice is set up, the acting is easier, because they can put the emotion into their voices, and then the movements they do have more meaning.

Acting is totally necessary. Not only is good singing good for transmitting the feeling of what you're singing, but the acting, the body language is also extremely important.

Yes! Yes! And yes again! Lol! Acting is incredibly important in opera because it's such a complex art form. Unfortunately, nowadays, we often see a lack of both great acting and singing.😅

I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if all the great references to real singing just vanished one day. It seems like there’s zero motivation to help people shake off their ignorance and apathy, especially when it comes to boycotting the awful stuff they’re calling art these days. That’s their biggest fear, they don’t want people to wake up.

I have to confess something…I study opera myself, but every time I hear these incredible voices, I can’t help but feel a bit embarrassed. It really puts into perspective just how small and insignificant I am compared to these giants. I guess acknowledging our limits shows that we have a functional brain and some common sense. Can you imagine if today’s celebrities felt the same way?🙈

These kinds of sounds come occasionally in many lifetimes. Moreover, one gets the feeling that they’re not just singing their best, its like they are living these characters or may have even personally experienced some of the emotions that they are singing about. That makes this experience ever so much more real and raw.

Substandard technique is the norm in opera. Most singers only develop 2 resonanators in thier vocal production. It varies but most just do the woofy moany mouth position with a nasal buzz. These are only two out of 5 resonators that should ge working in tandem. Most of the better voices are using at least 3. People trained post war up until the early 1990's still aimed for all five. Ni we barely get more than 2. Not to mention warbly and woofy voices hace more acceptabce today than they used to.
