my card is making a fucking annoying crackling noise. I've checked a million times now that the fan cables aren't touching any fans, but I think the sound is coming off the backplate vibrating.
To anyone worrying about noise, get an MSI or Asus 970, the Gigabyte g1 has best performance but the MSI is quiet and performs all around the best for the sound it creates. I was about to buy a Gigabyte one, too bad they aren't quieter in general (pushing aside fan speeds and junk). It's disappointing that it is as loud as it is, but has the absolute best design out there. It would have looked beautiful in my case.
***** you can play all games on very high or ultra without any heating problems at all.. just set the fan speed to lowest % in fan speed with the OC GURU
MrHellemo I easily modified the bios to add a 0DB mode so the fans don't even spin at idle (took 10 minutes and because there's a dual bios theres very little risk). Even on the stock bios i found the GPU was ever so slightly louder than my noctua fans, and barely noticeable 1 meter away from me on my desk. This card is not loud whatsoever.
Y Buka The gigabyte G1 gaming GTX 970. Later I can take a video for you if you like. I am currently running furmark with max fan RPM at 1200 for you. EDIT: after running the furmark burn-in test on my GPU for over 1 hour and limiting the fan speed to 1250rpm my GPU stood right at 79 degrees Celsius the whole time. It did, however downclock from my 1500MHz overclock to 1400ish.
Just wondering, what power supply are you using? I have bought 2 GTX 970 as well from Gigabyte but I have yet to install it :) and nice rig you got there!

My Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming is completely silent, even under the full load. Trust me. ;)

NCKKOx download msi afterburner and set the fan speed to something lower than what its at currently
i have mine at 1550 rpm (idle fanspeed) at all time.. it's super quiet
