Maynard does not want the attention he does not want to be the main focus of the fans , he wants the music he and his bands make to be the focus. So in short 80% of the comments I read are what's ironic because its exactly what Maynard doesn't want.

I live in the high desert as well, in southern colorado. there are many small vineyards down thru here, northern new mexico and northern arizona, producing many varieties. I've seen everything from shiraz, to merlots grown in this region. We operate north americas oldest tilapia fish farm, colorado gators, and I have looked at growing the vine here, just a bit too cold. maynard seems to be in an ideal location.

Obvious from some comments people just don't understand that a genius doesn't have to be charismatic or want to pretend to be something they are not just to please people. I respect Maynard because I enjoy the depth of his music - the fact he has a passion for his vineyard as well doesn't make him an idiot or less of a person. Einstein t loved sailing and did that often but never even learned to swim - It doesn't take away the fact that he was a genius.
