Naomi Aldred- Salesforce in South East Asia and her role in the d/Deaf and HoH community
In today's episode, Ben Duncombe is joined by Naomi Aldred, Managing Director @ Accenture and Head of Salesforce Business Group for Southeast Asia.
Naomi talks through her early career, and how she found her way into sales and then into the Salesforce ecosystem. She discusses leadership styles, how the Salesforce market has evolved and the increased need for cross-cloud expertise, what she does in her current role, the people she leads, the countries they cover, and how doing business differs from country to country.
Naomi then shares insight on becoming an active member of the d/Deaf and hard of hearing (HoH) community and talks through her approach to sharing her journey online. She explains some incredibly difficult decisions she has had to make along the way as well as the triumphs, and how we can all lean into being supportive friends and colleagues.
Finally, she talks about Deaf4Devs, an amazing initiative Naomi has launched at Accenture that is creating opportunities for the d/Deaf and hard of hearing (HoH) community.

don't start/learn development as a Salesforce developer .... start in web, app, or closer to hardware (C++) so you learn fundamentals and you have transferrable skills across domains INSTEAD of being locked into a Salesforce code-monkey role (increasingly becoming more and more just flows)
knowing flows (rediculously easy for any developer to learn) is 100% a requirement now because many companies are starting to prefer as much of their logic as possible in Flows since it enables Admins to participate/manage over time (heck even BAs)

Interesting conversation. I've had some interviews recently, and those have been interesting, especially when it comes to the interview with the hiring managers. Some of those folks don't know what they're talking about either and that can also be frustrating for the candidate because someone who's a hiring manager, who doesn't know Salesforce all that well, is going to be the one making the hiring decisions. (that will make for an interesting hire to say the least,)
