I discovered this band whole trying to look for any music sung in indigenous languages like Cree. So this was an awesome discovery. The music holds up damn well. I wish the lyrics were available tho. Its such a beautiful language.

This is the video that sent me straight to the music shop in Summerside, P.E.I., to ask if they had a Kashtin album. “Kashtin? Never heard of it, but I’ll look.” Left the shop with half their stock (1 of their 2 copies). I almost wore it out. It played all day at the house and in the car anytime I was driving. Recently had the pleasure of hearing Maten, a band of which Florent Volant’s son is a member, playing in my Happy Valley-Goose Bay venue. The evening’s performance closed with “Tshinanu” taking me back 30 years to the days when those songs featured prominently in my life.

This is one of the first CD's I had for Christmas, in the late 80's, shortly after I bought my first ever CD player. Tipatshimun was the most-played song of their CD back on the radio station I was listening to. I still have the CD in my collection, although I listen to the MP3 file I made off the CD.
