Just a few odds and ends that UA-cam is missing. I'll post more as I think of them...
Charlie Chase wants his suit back! (from The Pip From Pittsburg - 1931) featuring Thelma Todd.
Charlie Chase (one of the greatest early film comedians) goes full "Gangster" when trying to get his suit back from a friend. It's one those ineffable filmed moments that will never be bested! Charlie Chase had more than a touch of genius about him.

Alan Bennett describes Hogarth's Marriage A-la-Mode (The National Gallery)
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 роки тому
Directing his pointed wit at the upper echelons of 18th-century British society, William Hogarth, a painter, printmaker, and social critic, mocked the politics and customs of his day. His series of satirical paintings and engravings, which still absorb viewers after nearly three centuries, record human vice and folly with a sharp eye and cutting intelligence. This accompanying DVD narrated by A...

I wish more ancient paintings would have excellent docent like this one. very enlightening. Thank you for sharing.
Virginia O’Brien has a great pair of lungs! 😮 👀
lovely programme, and I love VW as much as I love tea ❤
Lovely! ☕☕☕
The narration is genuinely informed without pretension or the need to be dramatic. It would serve many art channels a great deal of good to listen to what Bennett is doing here. *This* is what art audiences want, not some nerd putting on a voice filter and telling you how to feel about a painting based on color and tone, and anything more complicated than that is just a regurgitation of Wikipedia.
Well said.
Love this song ❤😂
AAHHhhhhh THIS is the source of that part of Demontomatodave's big Christmas medley. Wow, that is bizarre recognizing a tune and trying to figure out where I've heard it.
Circa 1986, I lived for this shit--and still do.

It's only now, for the first time, in this video, that I'm seeing the resemblance between Victoria Wood and Mel Giedroyc! In looks and in manner.

Every Halloween. No question!
Happy Halloween 🎃
She is so beautiful. The song is still relevant now in 2024. I remember my grandmother (born in 1919) saying the words to this song which was composed more than a decade before her birth .
Brilliant 😃☕👍...Thank you👍...Thank You Lord✝️ for The Tingles 🙏✝️❤️☕
This is how you know someone understood the assignment.❤
Awful woman near the end being vile and judgemental about various poets! Very english, that kind of dense, superior coformism.
Alan put it like this, "People ruin everything."
Could someone please name the Sanctus version in the opening please? Which choir? It's flawless
Cute movie
She was only 22 here
An amazing act. An amazing person.
@@topherUSA Agreed, I love Virginia!
Wow - what a unique and captivating performer! Reminds me of ContraPoints!
please don't compare queen Virginia to that dude
I love 💕💕 witchcraft and wizards
Imagine hiking through the wilderness and you find witches singing along to non-diagetic music 💀
Watching this documentary is a yearly tradition. Victoria Wood was so lovely ❤
I miss her. I am pleased that you can watch this documentary over and over...I am a re-watcher as well.

I love this , Star screen , stevee nix vibe love you always his son, I am centered and grounded a pon mother Earth 🌎 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Interesting in depth history of Tea, which we all love, or most of us anyway!
I love it.
Why is Bennett willfully mis pronouncing Hogarth's Marriage A-la-Mode and the word Bagnio ?
He's from The North.
@@topherUSA Still does not account for his wilful mispronunciation .
With his being from the North, I doubt it's willful, Fred. 🙄@@fredarcher7264
@@topherUSA I am from Manchester and I am aware of how to pronounce Marriage A-la-Mode , rather it is a case of an inverse intellectual snobbery on Bennet's behalf .
❤
By the way the scene was shoot in Marshall’s apartment in Venice Beach
Very good to know, Alessandro. I have seen the interior of Marshall's Venice flat - that's something!
3 minutes of pure bliss.
