I like the part where the concrete blew out and dropped 2 inches
So just backfill the hole with dirt or concrete around the cast one?
Are these supposed to come with the pre drilled holes? I ordered mine with brackets and received the brackets but not holes in the columns.
What's the advantage over filling a sonno tube with concrete and mounting a post to that? I'm legitimately curious because this seems more complex and expensive for the same result.
Basically the same thing just more expensive
Reading though?
Very good thank
Тоже об этом подумал.
Too much money.
How must you set the posts into the ground? Do you pour concrete around them, pack them in gravel or just pack dirt around them?
uh.... anyone want to tell him that 8 times 8 is 64 not 56?
Not the most convincing way to start off a video
Can you use these on the gulf coast? Zone 2 wind zone?
Just wish you'd make them for thefencing market.
Какие размеры у это кронштейна?
Точно не уверен, но на мой взгляд этот кронштейн подойдёт под брус 100×150мм. В инчах (дюймах) это 4"×6"
Northeast Indiana. 🙂
WHY FILL THE GRADE BEAM WITH CONCRETE???
Very few questions getting answered on their own channel. Does anyone know if the entire building can use these brackets? Im leaning towards a footer pad pour and thia would be cheaper than framing exterior walls like a typical home build.
Cost ?
But what is the point in using these?. You still have to dig a hole for it. and it won't be as strong if you just back fill with dirt and pack in the dirt. Unless you use concrete and at the point it's a waste of money You could just pour your own footer and insert your brackets.
What about connections of post to a dimensional lumber framed wall on a walkout basement?
Question: Perma Column specifications say the concrete portion of the column should be between 8” to 12” above finished grade, but in this demonstration they are much higher. What am I missing?
Likely for demonstration purposes, ease of filming, site specific filming restrictions, etc.
Nice! -- QUESTION -- But how is it attached to the "cookie" or bell housing to prevent up-lift. I don't understand, is this simply back-filled with no connection to the concrete "cookie" or any bell shaped structure to stop up-lift??
Won’t the concrete wick moisture up to the cop portion made of wood?
can these perma columns be used in florida for residential post frame construction.
How do you level the posts ?! Or does it not matter and you cut the tops off at level?
You don't need to put a pad at the bottom... you don't need anything in virgin soil Since it's been compacted over a million years time
hello! you mention here a composite footing pad and in your instructions it mentions a concrete pad that the perma column sits on but it doesn't mention fixing it to it. is this not necessary? i'm in a area with frost and i have seen you can add uplift anchors but doesn't frost heave potential move the footing and the perm column if they are not fixed together in some way? thanks
Can you just back fill and compact rather then doing the concrete next to the foam?
That's what I would say. Backfill with gravel. That slab should float and there are no horizontal forces to make it go anywhere.
❤️❤️❤️
Does the trench that was dug for the insulation have to be backfilled with concrerete? Our existing building has in ground wood columns with the insulation in between and was installed after building was installed down 24".
I may not understand the complete concept of how PermaColumns function but it seems that too much focus is paid how each column is built rather than how they are actually applied to an intended building… Again, I may be mistaken but it seems that a PermaColumn unit (or individual piece) is placed on the ‘inside’ of the intended wall…? The outside framing protects it from exposure to wind or other environmental stress…? Popular applications seem to be dedicated to farm type buildings, although a more residential look could be achieved by applying inside framing, to achieve that more traditional (and insulated) results… Also, if what I’m saying makes sense - it would be practical to create framing kits or plans for small cabins, and more traditional small homes. The model homes in your catalogs appear to be almost too futuristic or foreign…Having said this, I like your products, they’re appealing and have the capability to become more popular…
So you’re setting untreated wood directly on concrete??🤨….demo boy needs educated.
Nah. I’ll concrete my holes.
While that might be convenient and quick, I think I would much rather pour the footers and have a much larger bearing surface than those skinny precast units.
What size drill bit? I still need to pick up the nails.
So how does this work if you are building on a sloped site that has brought in fill?
What kind of brackets are these? I need some
What do you fill the hole with once you get it level and square?
@DrDoge No, I'm pretty sure it's meant for you to fill that hole with concrete.
Happy thoughts and prayers
Can these be used if the pole building has living quarters?
Check out RR Buildings channel. They have built several.
If you want to redo this video properly I'll help you
would this application eliminate the need to put the perma columns deeper below the frostline since your insulating around the whole outside perimeter? Sort of the same way a frost protected shallow foundation slab
A floating slab/building MAY be cheaper
We twist the end of the rebar to grab better in the concrete. Helping when upward forces attempt to lift. Any chance of company doing this rather than being done on site??
CPS brackets are this way from the factory.
the 6x6 permacollumn is not insulated though? I bet you will get thermal bridging there and possible condensation issues?
that looks cool, but the insulation value of that cement pole is not that great. Why not use simpson strong tie connectors instead? the moment base connectors look very solid.
I have a 6" slab, would this product work being that it's only 6" thick?
Why not just establish elevations and pour the column/post in the ground with concrete?
The problem with these is they're almost impossible to find!!
Approximately how much (on average) time should I wait to let the concrete set up, and how long is too long?
No checking the heights? No checking the plum no checking the straightness of it you just throw it in there and go For Broke why don't you make a little longer video and explain some shit to us
Watch RR Buildings, they do it right!
Why are you using wood boards at the bottom, when there are so many different composite boards on the market ?
What is different between put wood into ground instead of this shit?????
