Brandon Sanderson fans can be a little intense.
In all seriousness, this is just for laughs. I'm most of the way through The Way of Kings and I am enjoying it a lot. I've already read the first three Mistborn books too and those were a lot of fun. MY girlfriend (a Brando Sando fan) assures me that the fan base has a sense of humor so I hope that's true.
Anyway, thanks for watching, ya'll.

That was a great transition!
Yessss! Join the cult!
The irony is that I'm one of the few people that hates Mistborn's first trilogy. It's not that it's badly written, it's that I ultraloathe the ending.
Great review . The Japanese cover is cool. The English cover really put me off buying the thing , but then again , I could always take the cover off. IT LOOKS CRAP. So I am happy you said that. I have read all Murakami. Oh no ! I THOUGHT Norweigian wood , Kafka on the shore and Colorful whatshisface....were his worst.......the latter for it's lame and unbelievable plot with a 2D limp wet protaganist In my opinion the only strong character in Norweigian Wood was the piano teacher....The reason I disliked KAFKA ON THE SHORE was the pervy thex with mother type vibe...I thought IQ84 was brilliant. Definitely My favorite book. I enjoyed Killing Commentadore and Dance Dance Dance. The Wind up Bird chronicals I found reminiscent of KOBO Abe's masterpiece WOMAN IN THE DUNES AS for non fiction The RUNNING BOOK was cool , however, I think his book on music was a gargantuan heap of verbal mastabatory pretentious turd. Good review.
Murakami is my current obsession. WBC was my first read of his. Currently reading Killing Commendatore!
Great review! Most of what you're saying is also what my sentiments are when reading Haruki Murakami.
This is the first of the videos with 1k views I randomly get recommended which I liked! So keep up the good work!! :)
very adorable pug but not relatable
I don't agree with the Kindle thing but I agree with having many but still getting more
I've only read Skyward, which i thiught was great. Everyone i know is reading Mistborm rn for some reason so I gotta get on that. Falling for the cult mentality 😂
based
Bears are hot
Maybe if they stop giving all his books five stars I would respect them more.
So you don't like the books because other people really like them? Get off your low horse, nobody here craves your validation. If people like a book enough, they should give it five stars. If people don't like it, they shouldn't give them 5 stars. Nobody cares who you respect or do not respect, people like the books they like.
couldnt imagine not respecting someone as an author because they have fans jesus some people rlly need to get outside a bit more
The comment worked.
Journey before destination
That’s what I keep hearing!
Life before death!
Just finished City today as well. Loved it so much! First Murakami novel with a thoroughly well-rounded, full thematic arch-achieved ending in my view. Sometimes Murakami is "about the journey not the destination". With City the destination is there and its gorgeous. 👏
Who cares. She should docs the videos that use her music.
Thanks for the engagement!

Listen to the album again. It’s your preconceived notions that is making you feel this way. Most the album is about love
There’s some of that in there for sure. I’m not criticizing him, I just think the album is clearly a new direction and I want to know what inspired that.
Doesn't this guy speak English?
Great update!
Thanks man! I’m gonna check out the album right now!
Loved 1Q84, Kafka. Liked Colorless Tsukuru, Dance. Disliked Wind-up Bird, too many weird tangents. Also What I talk about is pretty interesting. Need to get this latest one
Yeah, Dalinar, a cool guy, totally didn't do anything bad with a "Thrill". He just won every battle through diplomacy. 🤞
“Honor is dead, sir. But I’ll see what I can do.” Kaladin the 🐐
I have this one on my bookshelf but I have to finish 1Q84 first
It’s a fantastic series, book 5 comes out in December
Going straight from 1Q84 to WOK is a heroic page count adventure. Good luck 🫡
thanks for reviewing this book! The thing that stood out to me the most about your review was how you described yourself changing as a person since you first read Murakami till now and how your reading taste has evolved. I definitely feel the same way. The nostalgic 80's vibes Murakami enfolds you in were cute when I was younger, and now it can just feel... dated, in a way that more feels like "oh, the author doesn't want to interact with anything in the 2000's" rather than just "hey, I need to revisit this central thing that happened to me in college and college just happened to be in the 80's for me." I bought South of the Border, West of a Sun as a gift for my fiance last year, one of my favorite reads as a teenager, and before I gave it to him, I reread it... and didn't give it to him! I love how you describe the quiet, trance-like meditation he brings as one of the unique qualities of him as an author. Thanks again.
so real i havent finished a book in like 347 years so nice to find someone to relate, also, love the set up love the bookshelves!!
Thank you!! I like my little corner lol
I always need to pick up a flimsy little pamphlet of a book after I finish a stormlight book
I feel so good finishing a pamphlet. Look at me go.
The Galaxy and the Ground within is a great read! I think it’s my second favorite after Long Way. I hope you get to it and enjoy it! ❤
Can’t wait!
The Expanse kicks ass. I’ve read Leviathan Wakes twice and am currently about to start book 4. Love this series! Also, if you like sci-fi I suggest the Murderbot Diaries, they’re super short but fun and excellent sci-fi. So maybe something you’d enjoy but also get that sense of accomplishment of finishing a book. I’m a slow reader, there were years where I didn’t finish a book. This has been my best reading year and honestly it’s because of audiobooks. I use Hoopla and Libby, which I gained access to through my local library. Just having the audiobook to read along with or listen to while I work has helped out a lot.
Adding Murderbot to my list! Libby is great. I like audiobooks but only when I’m on a walk or if my mind is particularly clear. Usually it’s too busy in there to pay proper attention.
MATT. DAMON.
Sandon Branderson is good too. Check him out
Omg I love that guy
Genuine question here. How is the Way of Kings prose compared to mistborn? I've been trying the get into Sanderson but mistborn reads like absolute crap to me. It sucks because I heard so much good stuff and I simply can't just enjoy the book because his writing style just sits there being in the way. I'm wondering if his 'epic fantasy' is a better point for me to enter? Or am I just going to spend the whole time feeling like I'm listening to a guy from the Midwest... Oh edit: I've struggled finishing books lately too and I completely just straight up inhaled Children of Time. Best sci fi of our generation. Yes including the expanse.
I think Way of Kings is much more well written. It’s definitely not flashy but I remember reading the first couple chapters and immediately noticing a difference. I think generally his style is pretty plain but it’s a step up with WOK.
Andy Weir is who brought the joy of reading back to me. Those books are incredibly nerdy without being pretentious (cough cough three body problem). The martian is still my favourite book, but project hail mary is a close second. As for recommendations: The bird that drinks tears is heavily underapreciated and more people should read it. Edit: Andy Weir is wacky AF!
Who’s the author on that one? Also I love Three Body Problem lol.
@@vellichor_venturesI like it too, but it was a bit much sometimes. Author is Lee Young-do
u have a comfortable voice to listen to. subscribed. and refreshingly down to earth w a booktuber w a job and a slightly more realistic reading pace 😂
Aww thank you!! I try to keep it real. I don’t have time to read as much as some people do but I still like to share.
it took me two tried to finish Way of Kings. not because it wasnt interesting, but bc the library demanded it back 😂 but SHOGUN, omg thats a hell of a.... something, thats for sure. i gave up. i couldnt get i to it even tho i loved the show
Shogun I’m enjoying but it’s definitely a fun read in terms of “this hasn’t aged well”
I'm currently on Persepolis Rising (Expanse #7) and I'm telling you, its an amazing series. You're gonna love it!
I feel like I’m gonna love it.
Need to grow up and read some J G Ballard brother. William S Burroughs, maybe some PKD if you’re scared idk. Jk do what you want. Props on the video quality. I enjoyed watchin.
I like PKD! I don’t think anyone needs to grow up with their reading taste - there’s plenty of really wells written, sophisticated books in all genres. Always an advocate for expanding your tastes though.
To offer an alternate perspective from the guy below, I though Children of Time was absolutely spellbinding. I loved it.
Rui Hachimura😂
Reading Children of Time as we speak
It so good.
I agree with your girlfriend and I said the same thing you did. Just finished it today
Still love shallan though
Dark Matter and Swan Song are great. Hail Mary is really really good. Cool dialogue. It will be a refreshing breeze following any Brando Sando
I’ve got Dark Matter on audiobook right now. Enjoying it but also the main guy is kind of an idiot the first few chapters.
BooK rec that could lead to many good discussions: To Your Scattered Bodies Go by Philip Jose Farmer
Love the cover! Added to my list
I am happy for you but we wanna listen about the book not about your youtube journey my man
Then don’t subscribe my guy

For some random fiction my favorite author is Mario Vargas Llosa. I especially love his book called In Praise of the Stepmother. Its kind of a you hate it or you love it book. I really love how he uses in this book stories made up for certain art pieces in order to provide another layer of meaning to the main story. Another amazing literary fiction i read is The Weekend by Charlotte Wood which is a story of a senior friendgroup after one of their friend dies and book explores how friendship dynamics change after someone passes. Its a very raw and somewhat melancolic book with a strong ending. Both of these books are quite short I think. Around 200 pages. I would recommend Marie Aubert too but im not sure her books got ever translated to english. 😓
Added both to my list!
I am hearing a lot of titles, what do we think about After Dark???? 🤔 Thank you for doing this review!! I look forward to reading the new book!
I like After Dark! It’s fun to read in one sitting
