Hello and gratulation for nice running machine...we have the same, and it always runs not so fluent sometimes it get stuck at backturn... do you have some information were to oil or grease, looks like we messing a Spot or two. The "k" means it was manufactured in united kingdom, "w" signifies it was manufactured in the united states. So k and w only signify country of manufacture; in short, they are the same. for darning set stitch length to 0 stitches per inch, you can then move the material about as you see fit.
Yes, it's the same. Since it doesn't have a reverse it's difficult to darn without setting the machine up specifically for darning. For example, dropping the feed dogs and replacing the needle plate and using a jump foot and no back foot. But, using a dedicated darning machine is recommended.

I wouldn't go much heavier than 3 layers of 6 oz leather. I mostly used this machine for heavy canvas binding though.
Hi, I have a Singer 138W101 Double needle post bed. Looks very similar to yours but it is needle feed instead of wheel feed. I'm having trouble finding parts for this old machine, if you know where to get bobbins and the thread feed at the top of the machine? any help would be great.
