Gravel Riding out to Avebury "this can only happen to me"
Good effort. I’ve done the canal route from bishops cannings to Bath and back a few times. What route did you take from Devizes back to Swindon, it looks like a decent gravel route.
Hi cheers, we headed out of Devizes passed the white horse and across to Avebury, along the ridgeway and into swindon, we have stayed on the canal before and gone along to Malborough which is was pretty good. 👍
Rob-Give us a new video, Funky Tshirt Rocks Bro
Which is why hawaiin shirts should be derigeur. How long can you park at the three trees? Are there charges?
I've parked there all day before, it's a pretty big carpark.
@@071972jonah 👍
Welcome back. You have been missed!
Thought you were going to lose the Garmin at one point! Good to see you back making videos. 👍
Very pleased to see you back! And get well soon Nath. Missed these vids. All the best from Oxford and happy trucking.
Cheers Ed 🤟🤟
Lucky you getting out the motor industry. 😉 I'm still stuck in it after all these years.
I don't envy you, I did 9 years and that was enough, Nath did around 20 😢😢
@@071972jonah what side off ot was you in. I've done around 20 and getting harder.
I was in inspection on new cars and Nath did abit of everything but finished up in training and repairs, for me it was just car car car car 🤯
@@071972jonah year right I feel the same. I'm on sales and wow that changed. Extremely jel you out lol well done to both.
It’s been a while! Nice to see you riding again!
Thanks, it's feels good getting out and about again. 👍
Great vid lads, will be planning similar route. That leg from Avebury up to Hackpen I have given up on, path too eroded and no fun. The road from Broad Hinton to and from Avebury is not too bad. I come up from the valley from Tockenham side, 20% hills that I make look easy. Not. I am finding Avebury as a starting point gives the most choice for all the long distance rides. Also avoids 20% hill climbs. There is a ridgeway route from Marlborough down to Lyme Regis which am looking at.
Many thanks, We have a video where we started at Avebury and headed to Stonehenge through Salisbury Plain which was a great ride, your right Avebury is a good starting point for different directional routes in the area 👍
Great to see you blokes back out on the trails. Good humour and good tunes too 👌🏼
Great video! 🙏🏻 Would love to try this route but the komoot link is not worming, still available to share it?
Please dont use those mudguards up on the ridgeway. They break/shatter with the shock on gravel downhill. I know from my own experience. 21 stitches in my face!!!!!
Good shout. We've binned them off now, they cause more damage then their worth. Wow 🤯 i survived not so much in your case, hope your well now 🤘
UA-cam's a funny place. Don't know why this only has 232 views at the time of commenting. Maybe the algorithm's eye of sauron will catch you guys at some point.
Cheers dude, UA-cam works in funny ways 😊🤙
Great video lads, looks like a lot of fun....kinda 😄 new to gravel riding and also Swindon based (just bought a Trek Checkpoint SL7) how do you set up your routes, are there any sites you can recommend or do you just use the Garmin feature?
Hi Steve, thanks, great to see your getting into gravel riding, I switch between komoot and os maps, komoot for finding great routes that people upload and os for routing myself, komoot can link straight to Garmin and os I upload the gpx files. 🤙
@@071972jonah excellent, i will take a look, that will be a big help thanks 🙂 keep up with the great vids 👍
Looks like an adventure! I love Bath! That was a deep puddle!
They have done alot of Victorian filming in Bath it has great architecture, weathers been a bit crap here lately we've had a couple of big storms pass by so getting out has been hard. 🤙
Nice video! Good to see you guys back on the bikes! Looks like an amazing day!
Hi, thanks, it was a cold day but great to be out locally 🤙
Rob the punisher! Great video guys, have ridden Reading to Bath-Bristol along the canal in summer, 100 miles!! Nath should love it, (quite flat) 👍
Cheers Martin. Haha Nath's a love to hate rider ha, hates it sometimes loves it most of the time 😊, I think I will challenge him to that one soon 🤙
Nice one fellas, I did a similar ride last Summer from Bristol TM to Swindon station. It was lovely and sunny which brought out the walkers in their hordes around Bradford and Caen Hill locks, I was thinking I’ll do this again in the Winter 🥶
Cheers Rob, yes we followed the cycle route from Bristol to Bath and then the canel to Marlborough and then along the old railway back to Swindon a few years back a great ride, we did it in the week so pretty quite and it was dryish,
Awesome! Maybe in the summer :)
Thanks Gary, Yeah would be a great summer ride, but can imagine the canel being busy with people at the weekend. 🤙
@@071972jonah I love a towpath, but yeah, they get very peopley!
Great effort both, always a challenge when the weather isn't on our side. I rang the missus once on a wintery Brecon loop, 7 hours into the ride, was at The White Hart pub at Talybont on Usk on way back to Brecon after riding the Gap and down to one dim light between me and my teenage daughter. We were soaked through and shivering but she said grab a plate of chips in the pub and then ride back as it was flat along the canal. The plate of chips and mug of tea was enough to get us back on course. It's all good stuff.
I think we all have those rides where it test us. Stop, take a break and it seems to work out, we do laugh about it after and we all agree sometimes there's no shame in asking for help. I was training for Ironman Wales a few years back and I was a 100 miles in on a training ride and got a flat on a tubeless setup and couldn't fit it so got rescued by the mrs, I was tired at that point so she was a sight for sore eyes when she pulled up.
I'm pretty local to lots of your routes, are you able to share the GPX for this?
Ye no worries I can add a link to the description in abit 👍
I've just added a link to the ride Dave.🤘
Really enjoyed that guy's. We've all gone through puddles and found a Deep spot. Doesn't stop it from being funny though! thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jason, it was pretty funny a the time 🤣
Sweet! Looks like a fun ride. I commute from Bradford to Bath to work each morning on that route. It's grim at the moment but proper nice when the weather picks up! Looks forward to your next adventure.
Cheers, we've done Bristol to Marlborough along the canel, I think your section is probably the best part 🤙
@@071972jonah I've only made it as far as Devizes going to other way. Can't seem to get past the 6x brewery, odd that!
🤣🤣🤣👍
Nice work guys, especially in those downpours. That hole / ditch hidden in the puddle was like something out of a cartoon! 😂 Kudos
Cheers, its was a epic ride, we did laugh at the time, fair play to Nath I thought he was going over the bars 🤭
Looks like a good ride, any chance of the route please
Yeah no worries I'll get a link over to you 🤙

Thanks for that, I will give it a try when it’s dry and warmer
My stomping ground...Great vid.
Cheers Gary, you never know what the Ridgeway will throw at you on the day, it changes every day 🤙
I’ve been to Stone Henge but never with my bike! I would love to ride in that area!
We have the Salisbury Plains which is a training ground for the army, when their not training they allow you to cross through as long as you stay on the trails, it has some great gravel.
Wow! Looks like a tough ride!
It was in places but the views were totally worth it
Well done! Great video! I always enjoy watching!
First time to hit you chaps up. It was a pleasure to watch and I could feel the pain, done that loop many times and in winter it's brutal, worse when snow or rain. The drone footage means I got another expense to explain to the wife, yeah I want one. Keep it going men, subbed.
Cheers dude, we really do love Wales, dont think we've had a bad ride there, we will return in the summer, I bet snow is a brutal ride around those parts, think the drone gives everyone a better perspective of where we get to ride, thanks again dude 🤙
Another great video! Good to see Nath back in the saddle. Awesome drone footage, as well.
Cheers Jeff, Nath said he really enjoyed it but only a few days later when his body recovered 😁
Nice video. Great route I've done it myself, you missed a good stretch of gravel just after pontsticill reservoir, there are actually another couple of really good gravel roads up that way! You'll have to go back 🤣
Cheers dude, oh we're definitely going back, when Nath has recovered and the weather warms up a bit 😁. We followed a komoot route round, but we saw loads of trails going off in all directions, but we have to be careful for Nath he might need air lifting out if he collapses 🤣🤣🤙
Poor Nath… 😂👍
He did feel it for a couple of days 🤣
Looks awesome! Would you be able to share the route please?
Ye no worries I've added a link in the description
@@071972jonah Fantastic, thanks!
The komoot link doesn't appear to be working any more. Can you share again? Thanks for the video.
Another epic ride and some spectacular drone footage 👍
Cheers Paul, was a epic ride 🤙
Great video. Looks like a beautiful area. What stem cap is that? Doesn't look like the futureshock 2.0 cap.
Thanks dude, I removed the future shock, it didnt last long I had a machined piece of aluminium with the same dimensions works well and I just drop the psi I haven't missed the 10mm of travel really, 🤙
@@071972jonah Nice! Going to do the same with mine.
Ridden many times on an MTB. Brave tackling Waun Fach on a gravel bike! 👍 Are you now flying solo or is Nath just taking a break?
Hi Martin, ye it was challenging but fun, Nath finds it hard to find the time at the moment with family commitments but I'm sure he'll be back soon 🤙
@@071972jonah good news. Keep up the good work. Love your adventures, & tunage! 🤘
Cheers Martin 🤙
Dude, awesome video and adventure again. Relatively new to your channel and gravel riding. How do you plan your routes and do you post them on komoot/strava?
Hi Adey, thanks for your comment, I do like to do abit of hiking so I scout out afew places from time to time, but mostly I use OS maps and save to my Garmin on gpx files they give alot of map details but things can change when you out on the trail but that's the adventure 😊 I do keep all my routes on gpx file if people ask and have a FB account I send them over, glad to see your getting into gravel bikes, their great for getting out and seeing the world. 🤘
Another awesome episode!
Cheers Jeff 🤘🤘
Another solo ride. Loved the drone footage and, of course, the tunes 😉👍
Ye, Nath put a few pounds on over xmas 🤣

Very nice. Planning the KAW myself for next year.
Thanks, It is a epic ride, your love it, some great trails 👍
This looks brilliant. I want to head over there tomorrow and find some (possibly wet now) gravel myself. Do you have a route for this ride at all guy's? Great video 👌
